I have some doubts about the age limit of 35. First, why must TGV have a relationship with PR? TGV is a benefit for students who successfully graduate, not for PR. OK, even if they think TGV is related to PR, why do students need to claim their GTE to say they are only genuine to study in Australia rather than seek further stay? Second, even if the logic is "CORRECT" in the "current problem" for the 485 visa, it mentions 45 is the maximum for PR, right? Why isn't the new 485 age limit reduced to 45 rather than 35? Don't you think this approach is too good to solve the problem? Why not reduce the age limit directly to 25, which seems even better for handling inflation or housing problems? Third, if the strategy is implemented, who will be fool enough to study PhD when he is already 31 years old? No matter how successful his PhD study is, he can not even get a 485 visa when he graduates as a PhD student at 35 years old! Four, is this 35 age limit suspected of age discrimination? Because no matter how good a student's English is, no matter how good his grades are, he will be sentenced to "Death" as long as he turns 35 years old when he graduates.

The most extreme thing is the reduction of the age to 485, who does a PhD under 34 years old. Will the college lobby let this go?

Doctors will close practices if NHI is implemented South African doctors and specialists have announced that they would rather close their practices than work under the government's National Health Insurance, do you need more doctors? One thing this government can do is setting up clear boundary between temporary visa and permanent visa, so that temporary visa without permanent pathway will not have permanent pathway, by defining eligible temporary visa leading to PR. Despite no new details are present for those pathways, I feel those temporary working visa would be tied to PR quota each program year, directly limiting the number of people able to come to Australia. Good riddance of 476 which has seen few visa grants in the past few years. Also government really need to make PR pathway in regional area much easier, such as no work requirement, lower points test bar to a point that almost any recent graduate can apply. We already have 491 provisional PR towards 191, just expand it.

Thank for your update-to-date video. Could you explain more on page 54-55, it seems that there are still 189 and 190 (maybe 491 as well) but on a newly developed point-base system. Am i wrong ?

I always resort to you when I have a doubt, and get a very accurate ans. Your replied were valuable when I applief for my student visa. Now, I am 35+ and just completed my masters degree.. I am eligible for 5yrs 485 visa at the moment. I will apply in January. Being 35 will I be able to get 485 if I apply for it in early january?

For existing 485 visa holders, who haven't applied for the visa extension, is it too late? Feel like 2 years are lost with this change, with no change in the background in terms of actually providing easier pathways, but rather just saying a lot of removals now

Do you know why you are confused? Because you are clog with too many existing visas. They thought they can replace the whole thing by simplifying it with just the few new visa pathways. Notice that they never mentioned how to fit in the new strategy into the existing system. I bet they will need another year to figure that out....

Most international phd students are doing low level research. It’s mostly domestic students doing the real academic work in prestigious positions.

My student Visa is expiring on 31st May 2024 (PhD in Finance). I will be around 34 years by that time and have already secured a full time job with 132k base salary.I was not fitting into any ANZSCO skill properly for the PR eventually.
