In this week's episode of Podcast P, we’re back recording from the Smoove's Hair Gallery Barbershop in Las Vegas, where we’re joined by Brooklyn Nets forward Mikal Bridges. During our conversation, we revisit his Draft day experience of being traded away from his hometown team and why he was surprised by the speed of play in Summer League. Mikal also sheds light on his big trade to the Nets for Kevin Durant, and discusses his growth from 3 and D player to the leader of a team. Then Mikal gets honest about Ben Simmons, sharing updates about his health, why Ben has been such a great teammate, and why he has faith in Ben next season. Finally, Mikal and PG explain what it means to play for Team USA, and end things off with a Starting 5: Rising Stars.

I've noticed that several NBA legends/greats have had those type failures that end up making them great. For Lebron, it was the 2011 finals, for Jordan, it was the fact that he got cut from his highschool basketball team, for PG, it was the 2020 semi finals and etc, there are so many examples. Seeing those guys come back after those kind of failures is fucking awesome.

Mikal was a star even in Phoenix and like PG mentioned he was the heart and soul of our team but I think what really allowed him to lead Brooklyn was his long college career. The Sixers drafting, and then trading Mikal was still one of the dumbest, most disrespectful things I've ever seen a team do to a player and a fanbase. Sixers fans were ecstatic we picked a local kid, who played right down the road at Nova, and was a winner at a position of need. Plus his cousin is the most knowledgeable sports show host in Philly when it comes to anything basketball related, and his mom worked FOR THE TEAM. I will just never understand the logic behind the move, but I'm glad Bridges is crushing right now.

Bro Philly drafted Markelle, turned on him saying he was lying about a motorcycle accident, when he actually had TOS, turned on Ben Simmons who gave them 2 *ALL NBA* seasons and the most success they had in years and honestly they nearly turned on Joel many times and I wouldnt be surprised if they did soon, because thats legitimately the worst fan base in the nba. They would have found a reason to hate on Mikal and push him out of there
@matthewrutters6842

@futurehofer1864 did you ever stop to think that Fultz got TOS because of an undisclosed accident that would have been in breach of his contract? You want me to believe he magically woke up one day with TOS? Got it sleeping on the wrong side of the bed? Or maybe he got it playing basketball, because it's such a common injury in the sport. Gtfoh

The Nets team has lots of talent on both sides of the ball. Bridges, Claxton, Simmons can all lock up your favorite player. Cam Thomas if given minutes can go nuclear from the field, Bridges can score, Claxton has more to his game than just catching lobs, Cam J showed he could average close to 20 if given the chance too. An aggressive Ben changes the entire dynamic of the team, and Dinwiddie can give you a solid 17 a night too.

Y’all gotta stop saying he don’t need to shoot
@zamorant6826
@zamorant6826 10 месяцев назад
@taj3618 it's not that he don't need to of course he needs to be aggressive and improve his game. It's the fact that what's needed from him in Brooklyn is different from what philly needed from him. He doesn't have to become a "shooter" overnight on this team. They need him to be the ben before the meltdown in 2021. He does that with this team and they could be a playoff team. If he shoots it that's even better. But the ben who put pressure on the rim. Defended Highest level and was and ELITE playmaker will really benefit this Brooklyn team.

Stop saying he don’t need to shoot in a league full of shooters

@@jakariwright1170 he don't need to become a shooter overnight. BK needs him to do what he does best, They need him to get back to attacking the rim with force and create for all the shooters on that team. Stop taking that statement literally. Of course he needs to shoot for his individual improvement. But for this team there's no pressure for him to just change his game completely n start shooting jumpers.philly needed that bk don't n that's better for him honestly. I think he will find confidence in his shot in this situation.

@@zamorant6826 he’s going to be useless in the playoffs in Brooklyn just like he was in Philly if he continues to not shoot. Anytime he’s in the game his man is gonna stand paint or double the ball handler. It’ll hinder the offense especially in the playoffs

@@fuckkaric was it Brandon miller who said PG’s the goat? Guess he was onto something. But seriously, PG is a complete player. As is Brooklyn Bridges.
