Here's a great, totally unknown score by MIke Batt, for the 1978 adventure film "Caravans". Terrific work from a composer who very, very infrequently writes filmmusic. Think Miklos Rozsa by way of Thomas Newman. Great stuff! Enjoy.
My parents used to play this when I was a young kid, on the stereo my dad had built in his twenties. It has always been and will always be one of my favourite melodies. Never fails to make some tears fall down my cheek. Now playing it again on this same stereo remembering him. May we chose wisely what we do with the time given to us
Brings back great times watching films on a Sunday afternoon on BBC as a child, this is one film/music score I remember. Very happy and contented times😃😃
My mum got the Barbara Dickson "Caravan" single, to which this was the B-side, when I was 8 and absolutely fell in love with it, and I remember many afternoons after school sitting by the record player listening to this over and over again. Now, 38 years later, it's still one of my absolute favourite pieces of music, and a reminder that sometimes the B-side is much, much better than the A-side.
hermoso tema que nostalgia de esa epoca donde los temas musicales de las peliculas eran inolvidables, y memorables filmes que no volveran, que actores.
I love this. Reminds me so much of my Grandmother. She had the soundtrack on casette tape. Unfortunately she is no longer with us. Thans very much for posting, mate.
This has been the soundtrack of the “One Thousand and One Nights” dark ride in “Phantasialand”, a theme park in North Rhine-Westphalia. The ride was opened in 1970 and existed until 2009. I was there as a kid just a few times in the 80s, but this melody always stuck in my head. Great song, great theme ride. German wiki article about the ride: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gondelbahn_1001_Nacht
I loved that ride so much! The part where you could hear the song was so short but it made a deep impression on me as a kid. My heart broke when they demolished the ride. I'm so happy youtube exists.
Fantastic music and a awesome film with Christopher lee wonderful performance in the film.My moroccan holiday played loads of this type of wonderful music.
I've always thought that if they ever made a feature film based on Mike Grell's THE WARLORD, that this should be the main title theme. (Anybody who ever read that comic knows what I mean.)
Not totally unknown! I saw the movie, bought the OST on LP, taped some of the bands before I gave away my LPs, and I now have the CD on order. It may arrive by Halloween or later, since it's coming from Germany!
I cannot understand why Mike Batt isn't rated higher. He has written some fantastic pieces.Forget the bloody wombles listen to Barbra Dixson Surrender to the Sun.My all time heart breaker
bloke372 what do you mean ‘forget the wombles’ if you listen to the Wembley songs they are all very well written by Mike and played by an orchestra. Great real music for any one to listen to and sing along even us big kids.
Grosses Kino, brilliante Besetzung wie Antony Kino und weitere, grosse Gefühle, eine wunderschöne Lady in der Ferne mit einer grossen Leidenschaft, Trauer
I first screened this movie for Village/Roadshow back in the late 70s.....the movie was so so...but the music was terrific and after all these I am pleased to find the soundtrack ...in all those years I had never forgotten the wonderful main theme....
I'm 10 years old, sitting with my family in Radio City Music Hall (when they still showed movies there) in 1978 watching this movie. Even at that age, this music stuck with me. Sweet and full of longing with a middle eastern feel. I love it still.
Enfin je l ai trouvé. J adore cette musique qui a berce mon enfance parmi les premiers films qu on a vu avec notre père allah il rahmou qui nous a fais découvrir de beaux films الله ارحمك يا بابا
