Mike Johnson is such a joy to watch and learn from because he is truly happy showing people ideas on the drums. When he sees that students or a group of people learned something, he is so overwhelmed with joy! A++ lesson!!! THANKS FOR THE UPLOAD!
and yes, u can use any grip u whant, also there are variations with grips arround the kit from germanic to american and to french and backwards....But, the free stroke can be made only with power grip, and the power grip can be arranged only from german position....
seriously777 It's all done with subdivisions of the pulse with accents. Quarter note click track, play 16th notes on top. You accent different 16th notes to create the polyrhythm.
Man I live in San Jose Ca when I get some more bucks together I plan on maybe if there is room for me spending a week up in modesto. Spend some up there with mike thats a dream. Maybe one day God bless!!!
I get that. That's the easy part. But when he said something about having a click track in his ear and changing tempos using this polyrhythmic method all I could imagine was having that same original click in my ear while playing to a new tempo. That sounds confusing...to hear one thing while playing another.
i'm not sure, but i would say No, because every 6th triplet would just land on every other quarter note (1, 3). also, think about how slow it would be if you accent every 5th 16th note, which means you would need to speed it up to get back to the original beat. i say, in my humble opinion, you should play every 2nd 8th note triplet. So accents would be ONE and A two AND a THREE and A four AND a etc... i took a shot at this but please correct me if i'm wrong, if anyone knows.
Mike needs to upgrade the ghost note pro idea by using metal drum sticks and connecting that bar to an electrical source that will give you a nice jolt if you hit it. Then you'll learn very quickly to keep your sticks down low. LOL
LOL I enjoy Djent dont get me wrong and I enjoy a lot of the music. But Honestly I have no clue why so many kids go crazy over it haha. Im not sick of the praise its just a question that came to mind lol!
If you knew anything about Mike, he clearly states that he is a teacher at heart. He was never happy playing in bands or recording. He's highly respected by drummers like Benny Greb and Florian Alexandru-Zorn. You totally rob from Art Blakey, Papa Jones and Buddy Rich, Where's your originality??
well, first of all, american grip uses only 45 % of muscles......german grip, correct german grip uses 100 % of muscles.....Have u heard something about moller technique???Find on utube Dom Famularo lessons....enjoy
something wrong with his grip.......its american.......american grip is bad grip....Where's free stroke????Thumbs up if u understand, what i mean...If not, try to find out what is it
Idk, but there is really nothing special about them at all, and I'm sick of kids praising bands for their use of polyrhythms as if it's a brand new concept in music.
