Presented by Ogio Powersports and FMF Racing
Mike LaRocco is an absolute motocross legend. The former 250 and 500 National MX Champion enjoyed a long and prosperous racing career, won a ton of fans over with his never-say-die and come-from-behind racing style, and was instrumentral in building one of the most powerful motocross teams from the ground up. After retiring from racing, LaRocco managed that team - GEICO Honda - for seven years before stepping away to enjoy some real retirement, but he's re-entered the sport with a new company - Five Moto - to help racers improve their craft with the years of experience and knowledge that he has to offer.
We were super excited to have LaRocco join us on the SML Show presented by Ogio Powersports and FMF Racing and even though it's been a couple years since we've seen him, we shared laughs just like it was yesterday. So grab some refreshments and enjoy this episode of the SML Show with Iron Mike...we guarantee you'll love it!
Thanks to Ogio Powersports, FMF Racing, Alpinestars, Bell Helmets, FXR Racing, ODI Grips, Scott Motorsports, and FLY Racing.

2 strokes made motocross fun, 4 strokes turned it to a Nascar event (and it shows with low attendance and Enduro is where it is at now 2 strokes rule).

Fun Fact: At the end of 1997 I offered Mike LaRocco $50,000 plus expenses to have my "Record Label" become the co/sponsor of the Jack in the Box/Factory Connection Team.Just yesterday, I found his final letter stashed away in a box, stating that he had landed the final piece of Sponsorship budget and would have to decline, but if we would of started negotiations earlier we could of got the deal done. It has his signature at the bottom and I would like to at some point have him re-date and resign it. It needs to be framed.

@@mx-co2388 , Yes I am. I will forever be a fan of this sport. Started riding when I was 7 years old. Have raced my entire life. Chased trying to become a Pro up until age 23 and then thought "hey go make a living". I ride all of the local tracks still... Prairie City, Hollister, Marysville, etc. I will ride these bike until they put me in a box.

Looking back on it my respect for mike loRocco has grown. The length of his career, if he had better starts where better he could be as winning as McGrath, but he has my respect more now cuz like him I don’t look friendly out and about. He really kept his pace longer than anyone

I remember back in the late 80's getting to ride a racing friends 500 for the first time! whiskey throttle it straight through his back yard dirt track and over his fathers stockade fence. I was forgiven but not ever allowed to ride the back yard track again.

Donn: Great interview. Funny you put the two Mikes next to each other in the photo shoot. If MMA was around back then I bet ML would be a contender.

Next time ask him about 2002 when he came together with Pastrana and broke his arm. The Rock came marching up to Travis after he crashed out like he was gonna kill him. I know Travis is tuff but he must have crapped his pants a little. 😂

1:56 in and I just have to say. This guy was my favorite back in the 90's. He was a beast. He still looks like a beast. I just liked how he was never a pretty boy. Just down to earth guy.

Still top 3 classic chainsaw riders. Also if anybody has a 1997 rm125 clutch side main casing I will buy it. Just respond to this! Broke my lip that holds bearings behind water propeller. Hard to find piece in my parts of Ohio.
