Those police officers have always been there. They have been there in the same numbers you see here. But law enforcement officers don't stand around on street corners intimidating the masses. They are out responding to hundreds of thousands of calls a day. Every cop you see there is one more called away from duty somewhere else, increasing response times and possibly getting more people hurt. These rioters don't care if your mother bleeds out from a car accident because an officer couldn't get there in time. There are buildings to burn, after all.

We do, but when the country is in a state of emergency, and the state declares a mandated curfew to weed out the rioters from the peaceful ppl and you don't follow it, then you're breaking the order. Protesters should go home and start the protest again the next day, in the morning. What is so hard about that?

The law should protect the people and keep peace, but when the very people of your country suffer, because of it's laws enforced by the police you get riots. What else do you expect of people treated as second class citizens, born in broken homes and dangerous areas? There is major issues on both sides. Someone needs to throw a tonne of hash on one of those burning cars and both sides need to stand down wind and I am sure they will start seeing each others points of view.
