Saw them during their heyday in the 80's. Mike Reno was always an underrated frontman. Easy to understand considering the competition in those days. With frontmen like DLR, Jon Bon Jovi, Lou Gramm, Steve Perry, and a host of others at their peak at that time there were a lot of great frontmen who got lost in the shuffle. Mike Reno falls into that group - his greatest hit being "Almost Paradise", his duet with Ann Wilson from the "Footloose" soundtract.

I was in 8th grade and seen him at a signing in 1982 here in San Francisco at Tower Records. Being the only kid in line it was a phenomenal experience!🤞

I seen Loverboy 4 times. 3 times in the early 80's and once in 1999. They lost absolutely nothing during that span of time. One of the best sounding live bands ever.

Loverboy is part of my 80's life soundtrack! Paul Dean is grossly underrated as a brilliant guitarist. He was a huge influence on my playing. Love Loverboy...💚🎸

I grew up listing to Loverboy. Love Mike Reno! Can't forget those RED LEATHER PANTS! They were my favorite band in the 80's. Best memory was going to drill team camp in high school and we were all listening to Loverboy, You Take Me To The Top on cassette. Those were great times!

Saw Loverboy in 1982 on the Get Lucky tour. Man it was incredible. Top shelf musicianship. Brilliant entertainers. Laser show was groundbreaking for the time!

I was 16 that year, and my dad kind of dragged me to one of their shows. They weren't really "cool" enough for me at the time. But I left that concert a fan; the musicianship was beyond any approach, even for a cynical teen.

@@brianshaffneraclc Haha What a great story! Good for your dad dragging you to see them! LOL! I loved the first album and had also been a fan of Streetheart prior to that, so I knew these guys could play. Where did you see then in concert?

Lovin' Every Minute of It was given to Loverboy from Mutt Lange....listening to it I wonder if it was meant for Def Leppard because it sounds so much like a Def Leppard song..or that I could hear Def Leppard doing it.

I happened to be in Vancouver in the late 1970s and 1980s.🇨🇦 I heard all of these musicians referenced here when I was there! 😃 Unfortunately, I was always in a different area. 😖 I never met any of these fine musicians. 😖 And because I was a boy, I had no chance to see them in the bars. 😖 I only saw them in concerts. 😃 Great interview! 😃 Aside. In interviews, Shania Twain said she listened to them when she was in high school. 🤠

Had to wait till I was almost 40 to see Loverboy and I've seen them 3 times since within 5 years. Met Doug a couple of times and the whole band once getting a 1986 tour shirt signed. Love the photo I have of myself with Mike.

They have a few really good songs. Good band. They were in a tough spot. Tons of competition in that era so they kind of got lost in the mix.

Reno wouldn’t have run into Lou Gramm because his background vocals for Bryan Adams were recorded in NYC. Adams recorded parts of both “Cuts” and “Reckless” at The Power Station in NYC. Gramm has said Foreigner was in the same studio in a different room recording “Agent Provocateur”, however he said they were at Right Track which was in 48th St. and The Power Station was on 54th St. so maybe BAdams heard they were working a few blocks away and called to see if Gramm would come help him out.
