I was there. The first of the great foursome to be retired. A night I'll never forget. He was a money goaltender. He is amazing in big games. It was an absolute pleasure to watch him play as Ranger fan. A total class man. It was a total gift and pleasure to watch him defend the net game after game as a lifelong Ranger fan. Thank you Mike.
i know im going get killed for this but i still think beezer was the better goalie . technically and position beezer was better richter tended to flop all over the place and made normal saves look hard
I can't believe they didn't retire Steve Baker's #35 first!!!!! :) And I defy anyone to name a Ranger more beloved than Adam Graves. What a pop he received.
That's why I rank Richter ahead of Hank as much as I love Hank. I don't care if Hank is in the Hall of Fame and Richter isn't (Richter should be in if effin' Tom Barrasso is, by the way). Richter stood on his head in 94 and stood on his head in 96 for Team USA. Richter was a BIG GAME goalie. Don't forget too he beat Brodeur EVERY TIME they faced off.
totally wrong on this one. Mike had some playoff stinkers. Don’t forget the 70 foot shot in the Penguins series that lost the series. Plus Mike was awful in the clinching game 5 vs Vancouver allowing 7 including several weak goals. Hank had a 4 year playoff stretch where he was 15-2 in elimination games w 1.47 GA and .954% plus 6-0 in game 7s during that stretch w .081 GA and .973 save %.
really I know Mike won the cup and Hank didnt and Hank choked in more games and you're actually saying doesn't matter his game 7 reps he still lost against the Kings and he was Absolutely putrid Against Tampa Bay@@trackman94
@@chefrah54 the Rangers won the cup. yes he was part of it but they also had 7 HOF on that team. Hank played w mediocre teams and carried them. Richter won 1 series as an underdog 97 against the Devils.
@@trackman94 And Mike probably beat the greatest team ever put on ice and the greatest performance of a goalie in the history of this earth in the 96 World Cup.. I love hank But if you ask me who I'm putting in Net for one game to take it all I'm taking Mike
As a Mike Richter Fan growing up! I loved the Ceremony! I was a Freshman in High School when he announced his retirement. I was very sad to see him Retire! I loved how he led the team out on the Ice to start! I wished they did the same for Henrik Lundqvist to lead the Team out for his Jersey Retirement!
