Favre is worth over $100M. He could've easily paid for his daughter's volleyball arena, got his name on it, and received a nice tax break. Greedy and not too bright.

I’ll add to this. Farve is worth over 100 mil; if he wanted sex from a younger woman-all he could have done was pay a prostitute or go to a bar and tell a woman, I’m Brett farve. Did you WATCH that game or are you just another guy who pulls stats out his ass?! Gannon threw 5 in the Super Bowl but anyone with a brain knows it wasn't his fault. Sometimes the O line isn't doing their job, sometimes the defense has you on the field the whole game, sometimes your WRs break routes off too fast. Now all of a sudden it's pile on Favre time and i'm not having it. Three straight MVPs during the most competitive era of NFL football of all time. That was during the time when defensive guys were starting to get as fast as the offense and the rules were still basically 1970s football. Those 90s NFL days were brutal and Brett motherfucking Favre was the man in the 90s.

Another reason Favre was so revered back in the 90s, besides the obvious Madden connection, is that QB play was so dull and plodding back then. After Favre, Elway, Steve Young and Randall Cunningham, you just had these anonymous guys throwing for like 17 for 31, 150 yards, maybe a TD and a couple INTs. For every Favre, there were like five guys like Browning Nagle, Bobby Hoying, Rick Mirer, Billy Joe Tolliver, Billy Joe Hobert... Favre was way more entertaining to watch than guys like that.

Honestly, a lot of people were chalking it up to love of the game at the time, but probably the more important consideration to him was keeping up that iron man games played streak. He was as desperate about pursuing that as Ripken was, and it was honestly to the Packers' detriment overall on a number of occasions, particularly later in his career. Pretty sure he played with a broken thumb on his throwing hand at one point. Also explains why he was so beloved for the move; the generations that were adults watching him play didn't have our modern sensibilities about how showing up to work when sick or injured is dumb and detrimental both to you and your employer. Like, we don't need to completely erase his greatness: he was a 3x league MVP for a reason. But we can also acknowledge that after the turn of the millennium in particular, he had amassed a reputation that his on-field performance no longer merited generally.

Wow! Of all the takes I’ve ever heard abt Favre, this one is the closest to being correct, aside from the total turnover comment. Yet, even if that comment isnt totally accurate, many QB’s have been benched after winning super bowls. His one super bowl ring was because of Desmond Howard, the MVP over Favre. He spent the rest of his career throwing his teams out of the playoffs. Favre’s super bowl winning team wasn’t even his best. He just didn’t have a game breaker like Howard to help overcome his mistakes. I wanted to throw something at my TV while listening to Madden fawn over him. He had a great arm, but was am average QB with far too many 5 INT games that the announcers made excuses for!

Saying Favre is overrated as a QB is a hot garbage take. He started in 322 games and won 199 of them for a .618 winning percentage and the two QB with more wins than him are Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Even Drew Brees has fewer wins than Favre, the same amount of losses in fewer games started. Yes, Madden talking about him like he was a kid playing in the playground was true. Favre did play like that. Green Bay Packers fans loved him for it. He and Reggie White help bring that franchise back from the dead. So, no, he's not overrated. He was a gunslinger who threw a lot of TDs and INTs. He won over 60% of the time. Something Jameis Winston hasn't done with his .446%.

I get the feeling a lot of people are too young to remember the 90s or have a selective memory about this. Just like every QB, you have to evaluate Favre relative to his era. Not only was he historically between the primes of the great 80s QBs like Montana and Elway and Marino and Young (80s QB whose prime was in the 90s) and the Brady/Manning and now Rodgers era, but Favre was literally the most consistently great QB of that era of the second half of the 90s -- he had the best overall career of any QB from 95-04 by a mile. Yeah Kurt Warner had 3 awesome seasons in there, and yeah Randall Cunningham was awesome in 98 and so was Young, and yeah Testaverde had a good season or two in there and so did Bledsoe, etc. From 95-04 Favre threw 306 TDs -- that was more than Elway or Montana or Young or basically everyone but Marino and Tarkenton had thrown in their entire careers at that time, and Favre did that in 10 years. And remember, Manning was throwing a ton of INTs at that time, too. It was totally normal for your starting QB to average a pick a game. It wasn't until the mid 00s and really even 10s that you really wanted your QB to keep the picks to single digits. I mean, look, the guy is a scumbag who probably belongs in prison and we just might see that, but he was also the greatest QB for a significant era of NFL history.

Ok, I love Favre being dissed. I love it that this Legend only won one Super Bowl. I love his interception/fumble record. It’s hilarious. But, given who his dad was, I think it’s 100% his dad would have wanted him to play and throw a bunch of touchdowns.

A ton of this is correct. As a packer Homer, I had my heart broken by farves turnovers for a large portion of my life. It was a risk reward thing for sure. Remember, that during his career, he was not protected by as many rules, so when he threw some of these picks, he knew he was possibly screwed. But! He could get his face and ass beat into pulp by holding onto it and getting sacked. Not taught to throw it away/ refused too. As far as the American hero thing... the nfl needed to reinstate the fan base as consumers too. Ever wonder why some teams just seem to come outta nowhere to make the playoffs. Talent parody and coaching...sure! But it doesnt take much to swing a game one way or another. Just a call or 2 by the refs or a player "under the table" incentive. All teams get it, all teams get hit by it. Some more than others. I like my conspiracies to be entertaining not weird and scary. Love the show!!! Thanks for the stats and show Mike. Both Mikes. I had a comment talking mad shit on Favre, even as a GB fan, he's the worst. However, saying a person should react according to your values/expectations when that person's parent dies, who the hell are you? Favre is the worst. Commenting how a person should react after the death of a parent, maybe slow down with that bullshit. Also, don't steal from the lower income individuals and families in Mississippi. Hopefully, he'll actually see real criminal charges.

Not saying Farve is right but with all those examples how do you see Rodgers career? 1 Super Bowl a few MVPs but wildly disappointing end to the season every year? This comes from someone that likes both of their games. One is definitely more reckless and carefree with the ball but

that is idiotic to call Favre Winston. Favre played in a much different time when the defense was allowed to touch the qb and actually touch the wrs. just about every play pre 2003 would be called for defensive holding now not even trying to sound hyperbolic its just the facts.
