Yeah. And we shouldn't expect individuals to be strong in just a flick of the finger. Mike in particular has most definitely sought some help, went through painful recuperation mentally to cope with all these traumas. As a society, we have to learn to help each other to as you say, "pick ourselves up and keep going".

J Witherspoon well i didnt mean its all about chester, as i have yet to listen to it all. But from the first few music videos he dropped on his channel months ago, chesters death is what drove him to even begin this album, which is why it is important to talk about it.
@jeeither

I don't think it's important for an interviewer to ask him the same questions other interviewers have been asking him all year. Which is why I like this interview a lot.
@dewolx7411
@dewolx7411 6 лет назад
J Witherspoon i dont know what to tell you man. The majority of the interview was about mental health which originates from chester and the effects his death had on mike. The album started off as a way to cope with it for mike. The closing statement was about chester. Trevor may not have asked questions that directly mentioned chester, but it was certainly what drove the interview. The only part that had no relation to chester was the part about japanese internment camps, which was referencing one of his songs which isnt even in Post Traumatic

As a Mexican i love that Mike mentioned a little about "Día de los muertos". One very important thing inside the celebration is the "Están contigo" or "They are within you" feeling. Thank you Trevor for giving him respect. Mike Shinoda is a real person. Incredible really. He is a genius in music and yet takes the time to connect and really communicate with his fans around the world. Big heart.

the production on this album is so good. as a life long LP fan it shows Mike drove the bus musically. it is insane how talented he is. And to think rightfully so I always embraced Chester so much, Mike was the glue.

All the way from Jamaica; Chester will never leave our hearts - a group of us even had a memorial event - Linkin Park music has touched so many lives and helped so many across the world through some tough times :'). R.I.P. Chester

Hybrid Theory was the first actual CD I've ever bought. I had tapes before that. Linkin Park has been my favorite band ever since. The music grew as they grew, and me along with it.

Mike, my condolences. I liked Chester because he spoke about his hard past, because he made his depression heard and therefore encouraged others to speak as well. And it hurt me because he went, not so much because of music (in music we live forever) but because of what he did for those who wondered if depression was their mistake. And now ... you ... the exceptional man that you are ... are speaking of mental illnesses ... loud enough for both Chester and yourself. It. Is. Inspirational.

I remember my dad bringing me to best buy to buy hybrid theory the day after I heard crawling for the first time 20 years ago. Mike mentioning it be the best selling album worldwide that year was not surprising at all. We were raised on this band, their music spoke to the lost kids of the world. LP doesn't have fans, they have family. Saw on another comment:"death is a scar that cannot heal, but love is a memory no one can steal."

I really appreciate how Trevor knows that Mike himself is in a sense lost and sad about Chester yet he is able to deliver a question without even mentioning Chester's name with the same intention of asking how Mike has been doing and how he transition from a band to a solo artist. I came back to re-watch this since I've forgotten about the content of this video. Man I do miss Linkin Park, was binging their songs yesterday as usual. It's good that Mike's doing great now even without a band, really do wish more people notice him for who he is and how talented he is as both a song writer and a singer and not just see him as a "member of Linkin Park". Not saying this to bring down the band's reputation, but saying this to show that every band member is talented in their own way and can go being a solo artist if they want to.

Been growing up on Linkin Park since elementary school and tomorrow I'll have my thesis defense to graduate university. LP songs are everlasting, Chester's voice has been always reflecting a lot of people pain and hope, including me. LP is more than a band, they're a part of our history.

Beside "Kenji", I also suggest listening to "Hands Held High". Those kind of songs are like Black Eyed Peas "Where're the Love?", those issues always present no matter what year it is. And it's really weird seeing humankind as a whole never actually put an end to any of those problem one and for all :|

This was such a pleasent interview. Trevor has really come into his own. I wouldn't say he's at Stewart's caliber, but the way he handled this interview is exactly one of the reasons the daily show got so big in the first place. Interviews that are less business and more like two friends talking. I could tell Mike really appreciated both his kind words and his blunt, but still sensitive, questions. Mike is always on point and while I'm under no illusion theres still turmoil in his mind, he really held himself with a lot of inner strength and positivity. Easily one of my favorite interviews.

It was so hard growing up, living with so much pain... Linkin Park became something more to me than music or a rock band, they were and still are a balm that burn when it cures and feels fresh and light when it relaxes you. The way Mike Shinoda has been able to carry on has made those years following LP mean something despite Chester's passing. It was hard for me to accept the suicide of someone who saved me from that same fate... but Mike and his positivism and his will to live and fight and show the world we can carry on and still see the beauty of those songs helped me cope and once more find the balm in their art... I really miss Chester. I really miss Linkin Park. And I couldn't be happier Mike is still there, making music, making people feel again.

That part about how people keep bringing up the loss of Chester to him and how they keep drawing these conclusions about how every piece of music has to be about him reminds me of Dave Grohl and the loss of Kurt Cobain. Seems like people just keep bringing up Kurt to Dave every single time something could even be slightly tangentially related to him and Mike is probably gonna keep seeing that for some time.

Well I mean, yeah it is human nature to do that, it seems like a natural way to react to someone, especially an artist who you would expect to channel such things, but we should also try to remember how we treat other people and be mindful of what bringing up a tragic event over and over is going to do.

Been thinking the same, but it's still the first year. It's a death of a close friend of theirs, a frontman for like 17 years, a talented man we lost too soon and the inspiration behind Post Traumatic. Mike is also the band member that openly talks about anything that happened. I think it's ..normal so far.
@luliby2309
@luliby2309 5 лет назад
Yeah, it is normal so far because it's so recent. But Dave Grohl still gets Nirvana and Kurt questions and people keep seeing Kurt in their interpretations to this day. I wonder if Mike will end up getting that from now on as well, and I wonder if it'll get annoying to him at some point.
