NFTR - Welcome to the brand new series, Not For The Radio. Hosted by Duane Jones aka Vis (Renowned), Posty (GRM Daily) and Chams (Face4Music) the trio invite a series of guests onto the show to talk realness - no holds barred.
"Yeah yeah, most defiantly " is the usual sign a interviewer is thinking more about the next question they are going to ask rather than taking in what the person has said.
jahhutrt lepeed respect to Posty tho, I know he is not a expert at this interview thing and he does provide the jokes but they need to let Viz lead with the questions and posty should keep it basic loooool.
Bradley Stocker yep I do it too but this is the usual delaying tactic from some interviewers 😄😄, wish they could of been as relaxed and engaged as they was with tinie tempah one.
but to be fair i wondered where viz was, posty used his broad shoulders to carry the interview, the even better thing was that mike was chilled and reflective and honest liked his character, glad for shamz too as she put in a few good Q's, viz pull ya finga out lol
The fact that he reached me with his music in the states when I was a kid is a MARK IN MUSIC HISTORY. I've been paying attention to UK garage/grime/rap ever since 2003 I am forever grateful for this countries lyrical talent. FlowDan, Mike, Wiley, Dizzee, Skepta etc etc etc If any of you lot read this! BIG UP!
"First thing this morning you ironed my shirt for me, at lunch break we were vibing on the phone, This evening i brought back DVD's, but I'm alone with the TV". Who remembers this classic? Let's see who gets it right.
Mikes so talented. it went wrong for the streets when he started singing his own choruses. the first two albums were untouchable, the last one was good as well.
One of the best and most unique to ever touch mic. He is to the UK what MF DOOM is to the yanks. If you haven't already, read his book 'The Story of the Streets'.
Mike Skinner. I went to the streets "last gig" three times. I found this annoying at the time (you cheeky chappy) as I had very little money but couldn't resist an opportunity to see you again and again. I have a lot of hope for the future, but looking back at it now those were the best days of my life. Thank you. And Big up NFTR this show is the one.
Mike you are a serious guy! inspirational words and as good as the Wiley interview love when people got not fakeness about them. I would truely love to have a convo and spend a day with Mike Skinner.
It's sick looking at Mike Skinner from outside of the box here in California.. much respect and have to say there aren't many artists here in the US that can produce such an ageless piece of art like The Streets. Although I will never be able to connect to the material in the same way that people involved in the culture were, what captivates me are his lyrics that make me feel like I'm witnessing that scene as it was. How many artists have tried to portray there projects as interwoven pieces of art but how many were actually cohesive and successful in "painting" their image? Not many.
Fucking Don, without him the scene would be very different. He brought the everyday struggles to our music. It just shit we can all relate too, that is why its so good.
Mike was the wave God, he spewed live on air in a zane Lowe interview, check some of the beat Stevies mike ,the bold Ted mayhem example biting the head off mics oot his doo-hut, funny as fuck ,,good times man big up mike and nftr
wasn't really into mike skinner when he was big but nobody of a certain age can say they haven't heard a track of his. legendary for british music and still involved. I'm way older than most and wasn't really feeling eski beats either in the beginning but what it's turned into currently is big. British music has finally found it's own lane and ironically now the world is taking note. Ironically again forget the beef hype that comes with the wiley x dizzee clash but how sick would it be for british music, world music and them individually if at this stage in their careers if wiley and dizzee got on a track together and went H.A.M for ten minutes! str8 🔥.
Such a shame that the interviewers were so poor, was really looking forward some insightful question about Skinners musical process and inspirations. Shame, but still love Mike, genius.
I feel for Mike, he put so much time, passion and money into The Beats creating a proper authentic label (and Beat Stevie of course!). It's a shame it went tits up, obviously he grew those artists massively and they would have naturally moved on but I can't help but imagine who he would have picked up after.
