Mike Tyson saved boxing , he made boxing so exiting and explosive. When Mike Tyson was in his prime there is nobody in the world from the past or future that could beat Tyson in the ring. He was the best boxer I have ever watched. This guy could avoid any punch and he was lightning fast and accurate and powerful . He was simply the best boxer that ever lived.

There was this interview with Gus D'Amato and he told that Mike was like a machine. He needed to train hard and regularly for him to maintain that special technique. There are not a lot of people I truly look up to in the world. Mike is one of them. A complete world class athlete, family man, good sport, and funny personality.

I absolutely love how he embraced his opponents upon winning, toward the beginning of his career. True sportsmanship and before any ego could stop him from ever doing that.

Everyone always made Tyson out to be a bad guy. He literally showed almost every single opponent an immense amount of respect. He'd check on them after every knockout and would even rush over to help them up if they were still down.

Well there was the whole physical abuse of Robin Givens, rape conviction of Desiree Washington, and threatening reporters that probably didn't help his image.

He definitely did it to feel good and knowing that others will praise him for “checking on” the person he just destroyed

If Mike was surrounded by the right people his entire career and continued to live a healthy lifestyle, I think he would have been undefeated and the greatest boxer in history. The explosiveness he had was unmatched!

I don't know how much further he would have gone, but I think you're spot on about having the right people throughout his career. He was never exactly what you might call "stable," but he was able to keep it under control. I think between that, fame, fortune, and all the vultures that descend on people like that, had a lot to do with his demise.

@@somersetcace1this sport requires alot of discipline. Once Cus D'amato died and the streets, drugs, dirty business partners, and no good women came into the picture amongst other factors it became a stumbling block for Mike.
