You are singing to the Choir. If you understand how many family members I lost in 6 years. Losing your health with a broken back @ age 43. I just found out about a 3rd spinal cord surgery. In 16 years. I had all my teeth pulled out. Why I'm physically handicapped. Hardcore ULTRA DISTANCE ATHLETE" the year 2003, my most demanding test. Can I get off the Opioids after 12 years? And can I lose the 160 lbs gained? Spending All day flat on my back. For 17 years, still worked for another 14 years & 2 spinal cord surgeries. Why I promised my son that he would Graduate college one day. It came in 2011. Had I tapped out & stopped paying Child support? Legally, I didn't have to pay. B cause I" made a promise" long-suffering & chronic pain" = Wisdom" always I ❤️ Mike, believe it or not. There was a time when Mike Tyson could walk down the street. W/O 50 people. I saw this happen when Mike was 21 years old. Just him & Don King. Two others. I think I understand. It's called accountability. For our actions. Don't look because you want the loss so bad. Look for the REF; he makes the count. At Ten, he was down! & now how is his health. Like me, 6 years ago, 365 lbs. With a workload ahead. Yes I did all of that. Back to HS weight of 215 lbs I'm 65 years young!

I am glad Mike is giving credit to Douglas , and just admitting he fought great that night . Douglas always had a ton of talent .. he lost to fighters Tyson had beat due to lack of dedication . But when he actually had motivation he was a great fighter . Oliver Mccall has even said he warned Mike before the fight , not to take Douglas lightly . As he had fought him , and Douglas had skill .

The "long" count was 13 seconds, sure, but rules say it's the referee's count that's followed, and even then, Douglas was ready to get up even before the ref got to 5, he just waited until 9 to get some rest. @@mongoslade277 He was lazy in general. It was his biggest shortcoming. The Buster Douglas that fought Holyfield was one of the worst versions of himself. I think the fight with Tony Tucker is probably a more accurate summation of Buster Douglas. His jab was hard enough to drop heavyweights. I don't doubt that Tyson was undertrained, but he did train. He wouldn't have taken a beating for 10 rounds if he hadn't. Anyway, regarding Douglas, his performance against Tyson was nothing less than skilled, tough, smart, and ruthless. He put it all together that night and no one will ever be able to take that away from him.

@@mongoslade277 Thanks. Your recollections are dead on. He looked so good early on against Tucker. Then his lack of conditioning showed up. He basically just ran out of gas and stopped. There they go again, making excuses for another grown man. Pathetic! Douglas boxed the sh¡t out of Tyson. You actually blame Mike's choices for getting him 0:00 completely destroyed in a fight that he was willing to fight in. Mike was warned by his people that if Buster comes in shape that he's going to be a problem. And guess what, they were right! Thumbs down! Douglas was down for the 8-9 count & got back up when he was supposed to, before the 10th count. It's called a "10 count" & not a "10 second count," for good reason. Stop making excuses for another grown man that lost fair & square. And give props to a man that deserved & earned his win. Nobody broke Mike down like Buster did, not even Holyfield. You emotional fans don't even know who Buster's father was, let alone why Buster was such a good boxer when he came to fight. Buster's father schooled him well & it showed. Mike signed the contract, made the commitment to fight & got his a$$ handed to him. It happens for whatever reasons or excuses you can come up with. Mike still had an amazing career bc he kept going. Buster didn't bc he only wanted to please his father. So he quit. But stop trying to make it seem Mike won something that he NEVER deserved to win! Or worse, trying to say Mike lost bc he wasn't training correctly or something. Mike said it himself in this clip, he wasn't training correctly for better fighter's than Buster that he knocked out. So by your logic, Mike should have lost those fights too? Man stop it. Mike lost the fight bc Buster beat the brakes off of him. This is EXACTLY why Mike lost that fight. Mike won all of the fights he didn't train for bc he didn't train for them. He won them bc Mike beat the brakes off of his opponents, just like Buster did to him. Don't ever make excuses for another man. That's straight up nonsense. No one that has dignity respects that!

Yep, a damn good, wise perspective. And credit given too. I KNOW Mike could have said truthfully he didnt take Douglas too seriously, while Douglas took this as the fight of his life, and meant it truthfully. But, he didnt take that road, and thats good. He aint kidding too: Douglas never fought as good before, or ever again after as he did that night. Accuracy, defense, not giving up WHEN he was pasted with bombs, and on the fly, accurate switch hitting. Douglas that night might have beaten almost anyone. And he deserves credit for his efforts. Had he come in less prepared, Tyson would have stopped him too.

Ok, so here's the fistic deal. Poor Mr. Douglas' beloved MOTHER had died the day before this immortal fight. No man on Earth was going to beat him that night. Listen to his tearful post-fight interview in the ring: he was a man on a holy, familial mission. And, by the same token, Mr. Tyson is right in calling this fight his finest hour. Not only did he 'take' Mr. Douglas' best 'shots,' he landed a MAGNIFICENT right uppercut of his own, from which the former arose on the strength of finial piety alone. Bravo to both Champions. I even saw footage of the older, wiser Mike Tyson, in more recent years, with the footage replaying, counting the seconds off verbally for an audience.
