You can't really be late to such a fight. It's always the last event of the night and you often have to watch 5 fights or more before. But your opinion is actually partially what I thought of. There's a huge difference between watching it there or on TV when the price of the ticket is so freaking expensive for a world title. I mean, I don't know how much it was then, but Frazier was a bit of a legend too - it must have been quite expensive. I'd be super mad if I paid thousands nowadays for such a match, wait for 3h for the other matches to end and then have the main event end in 30s. Imagine if you were a fan of Frazier...
@@Revok7272 does it have to be a fault? No, it’s no one’s fault if they missed it because it happened so quick but it would suck for me. Like man, I saved up for a whole year to see this fight. You know it could have been a number of reasons why a person could not get there on time. You do realize sometimes things are out of our control.
@@ernestvalentino689 Lol. Good point. Whether he was there for a fight or not, he certainly got one. Basically an execution without the death if you ask me.
I mean at least throw some punches if your going be in the ring with the man …at bare minimum tell your grand kids I landed some punches on the one of the greatest fighters ever!
I remember this happening back in the summer of '86 on ABC wide world of sports, I went down stairs to take the trash out an when I got back upstairs the fight was over 😄
I had two televisions, the big one in the living room and a little one on the kitchen counter. I’d gone to the kitchen to fix some snacks for the fight…fortunately both were tuned into the fight otherwise I would have missed the whole thing!
People always say it's was all power..Mr Tysons movement made the power...he is the perfect Human to be taught by Gus Demato... Peek a boo style is a really skillful style of boxing...his spring while in movement made him powerful.
Back when this happened, I was in the kitchen making a sandwich and could hear the TV in the living room. Couldn't believe it was over before I had one bite. 😳🥪
@@danbranch5798 I don't think it went like that. I talked to Marvous Frazier and asked him personally why he fought Mike Tyson and he said he thought he could beat him. Joe told him he wasn't ready but he trained hard for that fight and Joe said ok. He also said once he got in the ring with Mike he thought he made a mistake. Mike looked different in person than on TV. Joe Frazier Jr is married to my niece so I see them on a regular.
OmG I'm only NOW just starting to realize how much of a beast Tyson is. This after seeing a training video of him getting ready for the Paul fight, I was astonished. That dude is SCARY!!!!
During a decent chunk of the 80s, Iron Mike looked like the most undefeatable fighter in history. Even during Ali's prime, there was a thought he could lose. During Tyson's prime (before snake-oil Don), you KNEW no one could beat him.
@blueberry pancakes, butter and honey whaaat for real bro lol alright maybe he won't have knockout power behind EVERY single punch like he did back then, but he still seems to have PLENTY of power, even in his jabs. And his speed, 60 ain't slowing him down at all that man is a beast. I just wonder how the fight will go down I know Tyson and Paul are pretty good homies so wonder if Mike will hold back. But honestly, I don't think that's possible. I think once he gets in the ring he unleashes the beast and Mike Tyson has no control anymore, that's what makes him such a beast. That kind of rage can be scary and Tyson knows it. Damn now I gotta watch me some highlights lol
That's Iron Mike in his prime an unbeatable force of controlled savage offense constantly moving forward destroying any opponent from the past or future . In this moment not even A.I. could create a more perfect specimen than what you see on this footage.
GOAT? I think not. Holyfield whooped his ass twice. Lennox Lewis whooped his ass, and Buster Douglas whooped his ass while he was still in his prime. Pretty sure Riddick Bowe would have whooped his ass too.
@@jonrob4675 Yup. Holmes at age 34 toyed with Marvis and also beat him in the 1st round. Pounding on Marvjs while turning his head back at the ref telling him to stop the fight.
True story..was anticpating this fight for weeks. Had a bunch of people over to watch the fight and party. I ran up stairs to pee and heard everyone yelling. Fight was over. I missed the whole fight..I was pissed..literally.
I remember that after the fight David Letterman had a top 10 list about why Marvis lost the fight. #5 I believe was he had suffered from the effects of consuming pre fight Nachos.
Tyson's uppercuts were vicious. He threw them as if he had every intention on make contact under the nose and push his opponents cartilage into his brain. Always amazed that he didn't kill anyone in the ring.
He knocked him out knocked him woke then knocked him out again. But the most incredible thing here is the ref actually counting a man completely unconscious and this commentator stating he's going to stop the fight. At this point what fight?
@Justin Ward-Angelucci Did I claim that I would have lasted longer than Marvis? Please point me to where I made such a statement. My point was, no matter the size of the ring, Marvis Frazier would have been beaten regardless.
@Justin Ward-Angelucci Like you, I respect any fighter who was brave enough to fight Mike Tyson. A lot of fighters froze on the night and no doubt would have walked away if the chance was available. But professional and fighter's pride kept them going. Good to exchange views. Happy New Year.
@@torrolindsey3459 Yes it is they both got knocked out in the same fashion and put to sleep in the same way. 😂😂😂. They have that in common. 🤡 Also both retired after being KOed. Tell me I'm wrong.
Just about all of mikes opponents had height and reach advantage but Mike was so destructive and so clinical up close . He just closed the gap . His hooks and uppercuts destroyed anyone . Best fighter ever .
Marvis didn't have the hunger like his dad had. I'm sure Joe's kids had everything that they needed growing up. The old fighters didn't have no one to depend on. Train hard and win your fights or you and your family went hungry.
@blueberry pancakes, butter and honey American fighters just ain't hungry like they used to be in the 60s, 70s, 80s and then something happened in the 90s. Especially the black fighters. The hunger is gone.
@@jonjones7137 YOUR right! I've followed boxing my entire life. I remember when heavyweight champion of the world was very important! Bigger than anything!
@@marcuscompton3772 now you watch these dudes and they aren't even marketable. Deonte Wilder is a horrible wide swinging clown and wouldn't crack the top 20 from 1970 to 1999.
After listening to Mike Tyson talk about those days now and then watching the fights is surreal. Like I doubt if someone would even get in the ring back then if they heard him speak now about how he felt and his thoughts in those days.
