Woody should have been fired on the spot if Dolson had any sense or gonads. Totally a weak and corrupted guy, as IU has to be, too! A sick situation. Cuban $s are not going to help the situation on the court next season.
He said that publicly around that same time. We don't have the full context and situation. We have one person's recollection and side of a 3 person closed meeting. Truth is in the middle somewhere.
@@hoosierfan4life836 Eric's rendition is very consistent w/ the surly 'stubborn' and arrogant Woody we've seen many times at his postgame pressers, post losses x 3 seasons - pure condescending behavior toward us mere non-NBA mortals! Also, the lengthy interviews HH has had sev times w AD Dolson reveals a passive, go along, very institutionally dependent lap dog for wealthy donors-he's weak and pliable as he likely has no comparable economic alternatives if he would have fired the severely in your face humiliating insubordinate MW on the spot and had acted the AD and leader the job should require. Woody has lost our respect - a well earned loss of respect, btw. He learned nothing in the wayward socially a drift NBA x 40 yrs except how to grift from one job to another on owner or donor elites. Bad, bad move Woody and reveals all that was readable in his "not true fans" rip last season! He should have been gone by the end of that season if AD Dolson had any sense or integrity on behalf of the institution and the great honest legacy of RMK!
That’s definitely how zoomer IU fans are posturing, because everyone else realizes how terrible a look it is for IU and Woodson that he treats people like this. Long been rumored, but somewhat kept under wraps.
How does HH treat recruits terribly? You have any facts or incidents to back that statement up? Bc I've heard and been witness to the exact opposite. @@masonian19
@@Cooliewhistlesonly low information clowns support these guys tweeting nasty things at recruits that didn't choose Indiana. This was a good move even if they supported Woodson. The HH guys are overgrown goofs
Greg's take is weird on this imo. Especially as a content creator himself. Woody getting so butthurt about criticisms of a bad season that he cancels beloved fan events is Bananas. It's immature and self-defeating. If this was Juwon doing this Greg would've gone nuclear.
It doesn’t boil down to just criticism. Those 2 have been overstepping their access and are a bad representation of what fans are. That fanfest is not some mega event and their NIL collective is minuscule. This hurts the program in no way and gets those 2 weirdos out of the paint
He was mostly pissed that HH had former IU great Brian Evans on the podcast when Indiana had lost 10 of 14 games and Brian said he didnt like the direction that the program was headed. And criticized Woody and X.
IU, the once proud program that boasted from the rooftops about tradition, graduating players, doing it the right way, old school approach, etc, etc. Now they are building mercenary teams by paying players big money. I would bet good money that a lot of their fans are not so happy about that approach.
Big time Hoosier fan and Woodson is coming across as an entitled Hoosier hero and he may be for his playing days but not for coaching. In his mind he thinks last year was a good season bc of injuries. I support Woodson and want him to succeed but this is not a good look for him.
Idk how you look at the last few years seeing the antics of the HH and not see how this is exactly the correct decision by Woody and Dolson. Woodson, by the one sided account (in a private conversation mind you), seemed brash and frustrated but I and a large majority of the fanbase understand why and glad he did this
@@slammin2445no no no I don’t agree Woodson is an entitled child brin Evan’s is right he sucks as a coach they hated him in ny too for these same antics worst thing to happen to iu I disagree with you
@@slammin2445 Again what antics are you referring to? Bc they're a bit goofy? What antics do they perpatrate on the program that are detrimental to success?
@@scott7275 the constant engagement of recruits for one. Whether tweeting at them or being very odd during interviews or interactions. (Ie Dawson Garcia, Jeremy Fears etc) You say goofy but the reality is that they are immature. They are sophomoric. They crave to be liked and to feel important when their hand in the game is extremely minuscule. They come off as trying to hard. Overly obnoxious. Just not likable. They continually rub IU fans the wrong way. Grown men running around with high egos thinking they are doing “their part” it’s not cute or funny and most of all they aren’t important. it’s embarrassing and majority of the people who are fans at IU who knows of them agree
@@Rocket4right I think I’m going to trust the players he coached in NY and the players that have passed through so far in his tenure at IU that have given him nothing but praise than the speculations from parties on the outside
Loved your coverage and take. I think that is where most of us are at. Kudos to Woody for taking charge of his program. One thing you guys probably don't know- Fan Fest was never attended by more than a few thousand. The Camp was outrageous and very few could afford it. My guess is this is one of the smaller collectives. I am a HH fan but....Bottom line: they probably had too much access, too much content unsanctioned, and going negative towards the end of the season the way they did can, should, and did have consequences. Airing this episode was a HUGE mistake and came off retaliatory and full of scorn and spite. That effectively ends HH and IUMBB which is sad because that only hurts the program and fans. All of us in Bloomington know full well if Woody doesn't win with this roster, it is over. In the meantime, I am behind OUR Coach. Well done Woody. Go IU!!
I don’t have any idea who’s right who’s wrong in the situation but if Woodson’s looking to really give it to this podcast, this is exactly what he does so people who would not have a opinion will indeed turn on them. It’s human nature, and a rather obvious move, if you’re petty😂
Don’t care about woody feuding with whoever and cancelling whatever. What I don’t like is him saying he will coach at IU however long he wants. lol. Thats a horse$hit attitude from a mid coach.
Small rant but to be clear, this is not a big deal. HH represented a very small portion of the NIL and were gigantic losers with their antics in the last few years. Woodson and Dolson made the correct decision. Running to a podcast and releasing it like this just shows how self centered and entitled those 2 are. Records have not been transparent with how their NIL was being distributed. They were extremely weird with recruits. Majority of IU fans love that this happen and regardless of how you feel about Woodson, he’s answered every question and critique about roster construction after one down year this off season. A down year where he misplayed his loyalty to his 2 guards leaving the depth dry and where 90% of college coaches wouldn’t have finished the season the way Woodson and Co did. This was 100% the right move and anyone who thinks otherwise either are blinded by their Woodson hate or are just as big of losers as the hysterics
I just think IU wanted out of the golf outing and the fan fest. They had to cancel player participation last year so I am thinking any nil missed will be made up
HH is the best IUBB fan show ever - the 15 hrs of oral history by so many re RMK last Nov was unprecedented in sports history - of course they're over the top - true fans are hysterical, FANatical - I love them - best player interviews as well, 1-2 hrs of truly getting to know each player or new recruit - FANtastic! Woody is who he reveals w his arrogant, stubborn sideline coaching, and post game pressers - the problem w/ his approach is that every coach in the land wants him to continue at IU as Woody is so arrogant, stubborn and predictable - ie IU becomes EASY TO GUARD...Woody is not HC material, poor prepper, poor teacher, and personally a very petty person and tyrant - a below avg NBA coach as his record proved in that higher league, over 650 games x 9 yrs,
It wasn't just the podcast - they're also part of a faction on the message boards. It's messy. Last year's fan fest they got booed since 1/2 the fan base does not like them. It's best to break ties.
Some facts: 1. Woody posted one of the worst seasons in IU basketball history of all time. Statistical fact 2. Woody has underperformed all three seasons 3. Woody is recruiting at a high level 4. Indiana basketball has been irrelevant for over twenty years It’s insanity to not consider a new coach but you also have to consider Woodson has a lot of financial backing to fix the issues. I think they made the right call given how the coaching market played out. But IU needs to win now and there aren’t really excuses for last season. It was bad despite having unlimited support and resources.
I disagree about underperforming every year. It’s been only 1 down year and that was contributed more so by the roster construction than the coaching. Also is a program not considered relevant if they haven’t made a championship game. Bc in that time IU has won B10 titles, been ranked #1. Been ranked in the top 25 and they draw in top viewing for games
The 23 team shouldn’t have lost to Miami and should have been outright second in the B1G. They got sucker punched like Woodson has in every single big game he’s been in.
@@Eric-l7x Yes that team had higher aspirations for the tourney but we’re talking about a final four Miami team that boat raced a top 3 Houston team the next round. They lost a starting guard and relyed heavy on the starting 5 with little to no bench play by the end of the year is what hurt that team. The improvements from Galloway JHS Trayce and Miller were all direct from Woodson and staff. It sucks that Bates couldn’t hit a single shot 2nd half of the year
@@slammin2445 the improvements are irrelevant, they lost in embarrassing fashion. Woodsons signature move is getting blown out by 17+ with NBA talent. He’s good at developing talent I agree. He’s very bad at winning games and he’s even worse at understanding basketball.
IU media? They are major parasites trying to suck every $$ they can. They cause more problems for the program than anyone. Rabjohns, DD and even Sterling need to STFU.
I’ve been interested in this exact question . Can you confirm your claim on 1%? Sounds like they have 2 big contributors, but would love to hear if there are resources out there to see who these contributors are. My guess is that that was a guess.
….also they’ve barely contributed to NIL. They’ve done some good work and truly tried to support fans but they’ve also done some horribly cringe worthy things. Also Hoosier Collective already creating fan events 😂
After this year everything is going to be ok. Mikes doubling down on "if you aint with me, suck it." Now if he doesnt play predominantly 4 out with Mgbako and Goode at the 4, shi7 could be different.
You guys don’t get it - the head of one of their NIL collectives actively went on their podcast and called for his job. The fans ultimately support woody over the HH
IU fans and media people need to shut their month and GIVE WOODY THIS YEAR TO TURN IT AROUND. Mike Woodson has been doing WAY BETTER than Archie Miller with the Hoosiers. Miller has ZERO tournament appearances and Woodson has had TWO and he’s entering his 4th season in Bloomington. Ik last season wasn’t good, but they weren’t horrible, they were mediocre, that’s a better word than horrible. 19-14 ISN’T a horrible record. WHY are Hoosier fans saying that Woodson should be fired when he has lead IU to the NCAA tournament two out of the three full seasons he has been there so far, something that Archie Miller NEVER did when he was the IU coach?
