I drove this truck and all the other 900 series American generals when I was in the marines. Very capable wreckers they could do just about anything but stop a bullet. No armor so I am glad I never had to take it into combat.

I worked on on the older version of this wrecker in the army for four years in the 80’s. In Germany and elsewhere. I slipped off it while refilling the hydraulic tank and broke my tail bone. I loved this truck. Yes it has it issues but it is a workhorse. I was able to use the boom to pull truck up and out of area, truck you cannot pull from the side though.

nice mods! great video! I own a m939 5 ton with a winch and want to do that winch mod you did with front bumper controls and found your video! I will do something like you did. any pictures or videos on how you did that linkage underneath?

Thanks for checking it out. I do not have any pics of the underside attachment but i will ask my guy who built the truck with me to see if he has any. I just sold the truck the other day, so i cant check. If i remember right we were able to add the steel rod from lever to valve in a straight line no bends required. i just can not remember what we did to attach the rod to the valve. I will get back to you if i find any pics. thanks

How did you run your air for the Lodar valves?
@mikestowinginnh7866
@mikestowinginnh7866 Год назад
I ran a 1/4 air line up the center of the boom rotator table, if i remember right the wiring also runs the same path. Once on top of the truck and under the actual boom i had to leave some slack and limit my self to rotating to the back corners of the cab and the boom was no longer capable of 360* rotation without potentially damaging the air line.

@jweddleman7077 Год назад
@@mikestowinginnh7866 it there quite a bit of room there through the center of that table? I haven’t tore into mine yet
@mikestowinginnh7866
@mikestowinginnh7866 Год назад
@@jweddleman7077 it was many moons ago but i dont think there was much space room. i used a smooth 1/4 air line similar to what a contractor would use for a nail gun, smaller diameter plus a slightly smoother and harder surface so it would be less likely to gain any traction

@mikestowinginnh7866 4 года назад
Hey Matt Everything in the world is for sale! haha the truck is not currently for sale and is in active use in the company. A couple more modifications have been done since the video, and i have been slacking on making a follow up video showing it in action. But i will get it done eventually. Thanks Mike

Nice work. I have a M936 that I upgraded engine too 435HP big cam 3 with a custom switch blade turbo. Swapped duels for super singles with run flats. Your wrecker modifications are awesome and I will be copying some of your work. Can I get your email so we can swap ideas and parts. I am in Iowa.
