I met Mikey Dread in 2002 Durham,NC. He and his band needed a place to rehearse and My friend own Barber shop and music studio next door. I didn't know who he was but I knew he was cool from the long dreads to the beautiful woman around him. Then he invited us to see him perform in Winston Salem,NC the show was incredible.
Thankyou so much for a rare glimpse of a young Macka B. An amazing, under appreciated artist who has given us such incredible conscious lyrics all throughout his career. No compromise, just love and no lies, from then until now. A true legend.
Ahh man what a treat, never seen this footage before....thought I'd seen it all....thanks....👍👍💪🇬🇧💪the kung fu dread in the back ground makes it 100% better...
Reggae has always been supported so much more in Europe than here in the States. We have a bunch of Rock "reggae" bands that are awful in my opinion. A few exceptions but not many. Just my opinion.
Reggae and dancehall was huge in the UK 80s and 90s.....but I dont understand, the states was exactly the same if not bigger, the states has some of biggest sound systems away from Jamaica....plus a hell of a lot Jamaican dancehall artists set up shop their in the 80s/90s and some probably still do...., Miami is like a second home for some artists.....you got sound systems like stone love...ect ect....you got reggae festivals all over the place, you got the California roots festival in the summer with (Steel pulse) the line up looks awesome mate.....I'd wanna go, they got the (hieroglyphics) that's hip hop, but I'd love to see them....👍👍🇬🇧💪 Plus (Michael rose) will be there too...and (dub inc) not too about them....
@@carlhansford6880 There's a few things here and there but it never seemed to be as embraced my the mainstream as it was in the UK. There is a Sound system culture in the states but most of the people going to the Cali Roots for instance couldn't name one soundsystem. Never even heard of Stone Love.
