I met Mikey Dread at Blake's on Telegraph in hometown of Berkeley, California. I was only 21 so it must have been 2002. The band had no herb and their bass player asked me as I was walking by. I ended up spend the night kicking with them and Mikey dropped the same dope dub he's well known for in the small venue that was Blake's basement stage. One of the coolest nights ever. Rest in eternal love and peace Mikey Dread! Forever blessed in the grace of Jah. ❤️
I came in part 2 (1979, when Reggae was starting to become more known, saw Gregory Issac, Black Uhuru, Earl Dunkley. Pat Kelly, & more @ London 100 Club & the Rainbow... Brilliant times. When clubs would be in run down buildings & basements.

@pberglin : Mostly they say/shout: 'Wheel......!!!' or ' Rewind !!!! ' . I think it comes originally from reggae-deejays (soundsystems) who really did rewind the tape / plate , then announce something again and then restart the song. This always gives some extra push-/powerfeeling to the song. This rewind-thing is totally accepted for bands in 'reggae-world' .
Anybody know a song Mikey Dread performed when he sang ''go to work on mon ... tue, wed etc then church on sunday ? I seen him do it in Glasgow but I've never been able to find out what it was. I even asked Mikey after a gig but don't think he understood Scottish (",)
