While the Mix does use a spare ball pancake block with virtually no differential, it is urethane not plastic (polyester).

The Mix has a urethane cover but comes very shiny polished. If Mikey took surface to it, not surprised he is getting it to face up.

Hammer widow Spare ball . . . is what I have and use. Great for spares AND that rare time lanes are dry enuff to play down and in. Gas mask core . . . rev it up and BOOM! Then you watch all the other guys swinging it gutter to gutter splitting everything! Saw this in a local tournament I was in this past Sunday NE of you guys! My widow spare came in very handy! :)

Kegel and Brunswick machines differ in the way the oiled is laid. In a Kegel the oil is rolled on and with a Brunswick its squeezed from a sponge like thing. I personally like Kegel a lot more because its more accurate where the oil is being laid and how much oil.

I just wonder how much crying would go on if they oiled the lanes with a "Bug sprayer" like they did before the machines took over. Every lane was a little bit different and you really had make a lot more adjustments a lot faster.

As someone of a certain age who remembers junior league life before reactive, Urethane was my SHIT. I loved it. I did fall in love with my OG fire storm when I got it, but when you've got a shorter pattern or a blown up house shot, I freakin loved my old urethane stuff. This channel has reignited my love for the sport, and I'm gonna get back in shape, physical therapy, etc. and be able to physically bowl again. First ball Im gonna buy? Pitch Black.

Why? Urethane is ok but it isn't that great for league bowling. If you want a Urethane get one of the strong ones like the uc3, pink widow Urethane, or some of the older motiv stuff like the desert tank/blitz.

My friend in high school threw a mix as his low ball, and he loved it! He had a really slow speed and a decent rev rate, so I’m actually not surprised to see it being used for these high rev guys.

I like the line you guys are playing, looks like your about the 2nd or 3rd board. Back in the 80s into the 90s we use to play it there most of the time when they starting screwing with the oil. Always enjoy.

@@gregjefferson8112 In one league I was throwing a plastic ball with my thumb out. Break point was between boards 3-5. Norm Duke can really play straight up the boards.

@@gregjefferson8112 .. There were times I'd play it around 2-3 and move my approach far right & drive it & lift. It's been awhile but having been raised in my grandfathers bowling alley and even having hand dressed the alleys before the oil machines I learned a lot. I think you've got to be open to different methods. I'd play inside, outside whatever was required.

I'm old. My first high tech ball in juniors was a Columbia Yellow Dot. When I started adult leagues I had a Red Hammer for wet and a Pink Hammer for dry (I worked in the pro shop at the Hammer owner's center). I know these are dinosaurs now, but after watching you guys throwing it over the left gutter as hard as you can to try and get it through the desert, I'm surprised there isn't something like that around for you guys to go to just to be in play.

I literally bowl a tropical storm and spare balls for strike shots. The down and in strategy is the best in my opinion.

Spare ball will be a new trend in next couple years. Why migrate so far left when you can go up 5-10 with more hand on the ball. If you can avoid flat 10s can shoot high scores

And that is why you back into parking spots. Obviously you pull in to unload balls, but then back in afterwards so you don't get blocked in

I guess its what you are used to. It is not Rocket science throwing plastic its just about the friction and roll to carry. Many times on tour especially the late blocks, plastic was played in the 90's and 2000's. Have watched Walter avg 250 for a late block up the 2-3 Board on the short (Odor Eaters Ball). Couch throwing a Blue Gemstone up the rail on wood in the late Block avg almost 240. Today everyone goes urethane to control the hook but when the friction is all over Plastic plays. There is a reason why guys like Norm and Walter could still compete at a later age especially when the lanes were tough. Fun to watch you young guns!!

I loved the video. Also, if I wanted to join my first PBA Tour tournament, would you recommend I attend one or should I join the regional tour instead? I wanna join the Mark Roth/Marshall Holman doubles but I do not have a partner to enter with
