Thank you *eMar fro allowing us to hear this magnificent concert via video with The GENIUS Maestro Mikhail Pletnev playing this beloved Tchaikovsky Concerto No1 in B Flat Minor. How privileged we are to hear the greatest pianist in our time.Maestro Pletnev never ceases to amaze me how well he keeps playing and keeping “au courant”. Ver special indeed!

The more performed version is undoubtely much more beautiful, specially the tempo

Kirill Gerstein describes in detail why the opening chords sound less "grand" here: www.nybooks.com/online/2015/03/09/real-tchaikovsky/ . Gerstein recorded Tchaikovsky's original composition from 1879 in 2015. Pletnev's preference for this version is clear :) as a member of the scholarly editorial board of the 2013 project "The Complete Works, Academic Edition by P. I. Tchaikovsky". Glinka as an encore.... Pletnev, with his foundation and in collaboration with the Glinka Museum in Moscow, has published a two-volume history of Nikolai Golovanov's work.... just in passing to give a tiny glimpse of Pletnev's scientific-musicological commitment and work.

This illegal recording has a few technical problems.... Comments about are certainly allowed :) But a "canned" recording never comes close to the experience in a Concert Hall anyway. (Opinion of a live junkie :) .)
