Another pearl by the Magician ... He checkmated me un 18 moves un year 1975 (I was 18 years old) in a simu here in Milan:/he was playing against 33, he drew 2 and won 31. When I went to have the paper signed, he immediately wrote a question mark on my 16 move, the mistake. He had perfectly in mind our game after playing 33!
Corno sir,you have made my day. This must be the most memorable moment in your life, I'm sure. To be face to face with the very legend. Wow! What more can one say.
@@giriiyer3968 very kind of you saying that I made your day, maybe a bit exaggerated! Well, I was that time (1975, great Milan tournament) seventeen years old, not 18 as I wrote before ... now (2020) I am 62 ... But I remember the game, my emotion ...and I am still disappointed for having played so badly. I remember shaking his famous three fingers hand, that he normally didn't show ... But what a shame, 18) Nxf7# .
I would like to face Mikhail Tal just to see the magic he could do on the board against me. And after the game ended I would stand up, hug him and thank him for what he gave me...
I have to confess that I played the black pieces in this game, which Tal played in a 1973 simul in Birmingham. Bernard Cafferty was amongst the kibitzers, who thought I was winning until two moves from the end.
