Her life story is so sad. Miki was diagnosed with uterine cervic cancer, which she kept a secret for a long time from people and carried on with her music career. she battled cancer for 3 years. 2 months before her death, miki wished nobody would listen to her music and said she had regretted her music career as a whole, because she spent her life being too focused on making music and didn't live her life fully enough. miki spent the last 2 months of her life with her family, and later passed away at the age of 44. she told her husband that she wished she could restart her life again and live it more fully. Rest in peace miki, your song is loved and appreciated by many 😭♥

It's pretty sad when you think about Miki's story. She regretted spending her life in the music industry and said she wasted it. I feel like that was reflected in this song. The lyrics are sad, and it even has a sad sound to it, but she still sang with a smile.

Crazy how 30-40 years later she would be an international hit sensation. Everyone knows this track and how beautiful her voice is. If you look people are trying to find out more about her but unfortunately there isn’t much info. There was even something about how she regretted this career path after she was diagnosed with cancer. She said something along the lines that there was many things she wanted to do and see but she was just so fixated in making her music perfect.
Yeah, if she was still alive I would be the happiest person because she would finally see that her song was perfect, she shouldn't have any regrets, cause she made a song that will still be in people's heart for a really long time.

By any chance you have a source saying she regretted this path. All I found that this song was a huge hit ( including other songs by her) In 2000 she made a phone call to her record company that she can’t play music anymore due to illness which was apparently her communication than everything went dark. Couple of years later they found out she died from uterine cervix cancer. That’s what I found. Not much is known about her or what said during the last couple years of her life battling cancer. 5/13/24 just discovered this song. It has such a good feeling to it, even though the artist's story is a sad one. Thankful she left us this gem. I'm leaving this note for myself to return each year. Just learned that she passed in 2004..it makes me think about many things like life, death,..and the universe we all live in. She is still so beautiful and refreshing in that vid. I think maybe there is another universe somewherelse she is still singing that beautiful song.

This song gives me a false nostalagia where I was born and raised in Japan and I kept singing this song with my sister in the backyard, at evening, the whole family smiling and having a great time
Even without knowing about Miki's life and background, this song always induce slight tears while listening to it. It's one of those happy-sad songs that gives off that feeling.
I never felt so attached to a song and it's artist like this one. It's just sad that I discovered it way past when it was first release and Miki Matsubara was still with us (tho I was born in 1999 but you get the point) , but still I'm happy that I stumbled upon this masterpiece. Wherever you are Miss Miki Matsubara I hope you are happy considering that your song is being discovered years after its release. Thank you for this timeless gem!

@@Suckadoodle9996 That's sort of true. The real story is, she regretted her musical career as she was dying in her early 40s, because it took up so much of her life. I think, that she even made music at all, means she had some love for music. But, making it a career was something she regretted, especially because she turned out to have so little time on Earth in the end.
