I once got to open a few shows with Motörhead, in a support band. Mikkey was super gracious and let me and my brother check out his setup during soundcheck, even let me play his kit. How cool, right?!?! He had THE loudest drum monitor wedges I’ve ever heard!!! He and his tech laughed their asses off when I smacked the kick drum the first time....and the monitor smacked me back, hahahahaha.
I know Mikkey Dee. Amazing drummer and excellent person. A drummer with a great adrenaline and incredible extamine. Within his style he created a great musical formula in the band.
I have seen the Scorpions 27 times and I also saw two of their soundchecks. I feel a little ripped off too. Not once was there ever dancing girls on stage during any of those times. However, Klaus does have some moves.
I owned a 7-piece TAMA drumkit from 9th grade to 12th and played in the school traveling jazz band and a few garage bands (Rush, AC/DC, ZZ Top, Floyd, etc.). Sold it all during my first year of college. During my senior year, a college band's drummer couldn't make a gig so I had three days to relearn playing a kit and learning 20 songs. Playing on a fully-mic'd drum kit during the soundcheck is something most people never get to experience! That first hit blew me away! Everything you play on the drums, you feel resonate everywhere and in your body!
@Legal : It's a reference... Lemmy always say he was, just for the show, and because is one of the best, listen some motörhead and you will understand. Nobody is the best musician/drummer in the world it's a fact...
@@Gretsch0997 Your right, I'm pretty sure with the energy Mikky plays with I'm pretty sure he was happy with a hot shower and good nights sleep...Road life isn't always the big party people think it is...After awhile it just becomes a job and your happy to get your quiet time.
Sad that he has to play to a click all night. What a vibe killer. I would have loved to hear what Gregory Hines could have done with this concept of tapping to a drummer. He was the best tap dancer I have every seen. Pure rhythm.
Those drums are overpowering the dancers, the audience will barely hear their feet tapping thru all that heavy drumming. Any percussion used to accompany them should be much more subtle and refined. The dancers feet tapping should dominate the mix while the percussion lays down a pulse for them.
Vad är detta för jävla nonsens. Jag minns Stones 1982. Förbandet J.Geils.Bnds trummis höll på på samma sätt. Sedan kommer Charlie Watts, vilket tog tio minuter!
