Amazing footage and the first time I've seen the scouring of the ground. I want to come and tornado chase briefly next year (part of a road trip.) These things fascinate me and we don't have them like this in Australia.

I used to live in Abilene, pretty little town. I was near Greensburg the night that massive EF5 hit, my automobile was destroyed with hail damage. I'll never forget that night.

How scary. I used to camp in Abeline when I storm chased. Cute little town.

I never realized this tornado happened. I always feel sorry for the cows I see out to pasture during tornadoes.

That's one of the scariest tornadoes I've seen in a long time. The evening glow makes it even creepier.

Yeah, imagine it like three miles away from your house, just cruising on by. My dad got some amazing footage of it as it was passing just a couple of miles from our house on the other side of the interstate. Could literally see the debris getting sucked into it. Closest our house has been to one.

I live in Enterprise, Kansas and just the sound of that monster scared the hell out of me.

Half-mile wide, for title accuracy; otherwise it's clickbait. Also, it was on the ground for 90 minutes, not "multiple hours". Respect for filming, though! My video isn't quite as good, as it was rain-wrapped by the time I filmed it from Chapman.

David Dushane - Technically speaking, multiple hours would be greater than one so if the tornado is on the ground for 90 minutes it is considered multiple hours.

Reminds me of the Moore May 20, 2013 twister.

Thankfully it didn't go into any of the towns and stayed mostly on the outer parts, or we would have had much more damage like Moore. We're lucky that the only injury we had was one of my dad's buddies got a piece of something fly straight through his hand. At least, that's the only injury I heard of.

There is no doubt in my mind that it was easily capable of EF5 damage. In my opinion it basically did.
