My favourite Miles solo and album, probably.

I usually distaste attempts at performing such seminal pieces, NOT HERE! Right off the bat, exquistely done with more than justice, tribute the beat, the bassic beauty of this classic and an almost spacy Birdland touch to the solos. A moving respite, followed back into the driving beat and bass. FuulnSweet. Then it ends. Should've gone on a bit longer, with an organ and guitar solo to share, why not? (@ weeks) I'm back, second listen better than the first, Great Appetizer to the original Tribute to the Jack Johnson-LP Version by Miles, My favorite feel good song, crank it UP! "Yeah baby!" as Austin said.

Really great! One of the most seminal tunes of the fusion era, probably one in ten thousand guitarists could get the vibe of what JMcL played on it. Not sure this is really it, but closest I've heard in a cover.

Where did the chromatic descending chord sequence in the trumpet solo come from? Zawinul's "Birdland"?

Speed it up a bit and you'll be cool. Remember this song is about the boxer Jack Johnson and not the hipster from the mid 2000s.

Think soprano sax is a better contrast with trumpet & band.

Mr. Henderson has changed a lot over the years, huh? The gitfiddler does a pretty good job, but he sometimes sounds likes he know how to play the guitar a little too well. Like many other gitfiddlers, I knda went BACKWARDS from "Birds of Fire" to electric Miles to Coltrane & sideways all goofy-ordered. Way back then, McLaughlin in the "Jack Johnson", "Live/Evil" era, REALLY laid on the sloppy abandon with great vigor. Kinda making the bad notes STAY BAD, IYKWIM. What's REALLY WHACK is that it seems like the world is FINALLY catching up to Miles - the 1972 Miles! Dag Nab, at this rate I'll be pushin' daisys to little schoolgirls before anyboy else notices how STUPENDOUS the 80's Miles was. Evans->Bob Berg? Munch, Miller on bass? When Miles wore Stern out and he needed a _leedle rest,_ shall we say, Scofield waltzed in, when Miles wore HIM out, Stern came back-> Robben Ford. Lordy what's WRONG with them igno-kritik peeps?
