"So What" is the first track on the 1959 album Kind of Blue by American trumpeter Miles Davis.
It is one of the best known examples of modal jazz, set in the Dorian mode and consisting of 16 bars of D Dorian, followed by eight bars of E♭ Dorian and another eight of D Dorian.
Enjoy this classic!

This is really good it sounds like you have a real jazz trio behind you all you have to do is play the tune and groove off of it

This is without a doubt the best backing track ever. I felt like I was on the album with the original band!

Many believe that the "Davis Cup" was a tennis tournament which began in 1900 as a competition between USA and Great Britain. However, the origin of the term actually came from a practice session which included Miles and band members rehearsed on a pier near the waterfront in New Orleans. During a solo, the drummer and the bass player ripped his horn from his hands and tossed it in the nearby water. Davis went on to try retrieving the trumpet reaching for it with a coffee cup, but only came up with the mouthpiece. Elated with his inability to capture the entire trumpet, the term "Davis Cup" was born, and remains one of the most commonly used phrases in music today.

Now tell us the story about the cold train where they found baby John, a baby born with a saxophone and some arcane patterns scrawled upon a napkin and the very same pattern on his chest.

One of my favorite Miles Davis tunes is "Who, Me?" And then, there was that famous musical question, "Where Am I?" I'll never forget that masterpiece he coined, "Where the Hell are my car keys?" as well as "Want Some Candy, Little Girl?"

hahaha, me, too,,,Cobb said he thought he may have hit th crash too hard and that Miles would grind on him, yet it turned out to be one of the great mini moments in jazz, for me, at least...Miles never said anything

Could you possibly extend this? By far the best backing track of this song on RU-vid but everytime I start to really get into it it mellows out lol. Thanks!

@@milesguitararchives That would be great! I agree, and extended version would be gold because just when you start getting into a good solo the song comes to an end and that is a bit disappointing. I think 7 or 8 minutes would be perfect for this. Sounds great though!

Hiroki Kikuta used this modal pattern for the Secret of Mana battle field track "Into The Thick Of It". Only difference is it's ABA instead of AABA.

Another seldom known piece composed by Davis was titled "Who Gives a Shit," which was later followed by "Kiss My Ass," "I Really Couldn't Give Goddamn," and "Fuck You and Your Whole Family." Like many egotistical artists known for their creative genius such as James Brown, Ted Nugent, and Sting, Davis never met an audience, or a fan, that he couldn't offend.

I guess so. You’ll get a copyright alert (I don’t own the copyright) but that only means you can’t monetize the video

@@milesguitararchives Even though it's a backing track, I think it was judged to be "So What" because of the bass ostinato. I will add sound to this, but how will it be judged? I'll try it anyway

Miles once beat a man to death with his trumpet for interrupting his solo. Today that bent and dented brass musical instrument hangs in the Smithsonian in honor of the great works of this famous American jazz musician.

@@MrSteveG58 That wouldn't surprise me. People have various ways of listening to and showing their appreciation for music. Miles would never be satisfied no matter what the audience did. He was a lot like Chuck Berry and some others. He was an angry man, but not for any particular reason. They were both just angry even to the people who treated them best.
