I wish all the kids blasting away on scales on their guitars at 1000 notes per second would listen to Miles. No show-off runs or tricks, tons of gorgeous space between notes. Each note means something. He’s not playing an instrument; he’s making music, creating a very special mood, communicating something that matters.

there was an italian musician/ songwriter/ guitar player called Pino Daniele. I am told by someone present at the exchange that he was once challenged by an up-and-coming italian jazz guitarist in a battle of skills. the jazz player went first. scales at neckbreaking neck over i forget whic standard. to which Daniele commented: "that's very imrpessive. but can you play me O sole mio, ballad style, without getting the audience bored?" there, miles davis could take the most overplayed tune in the world and still make it sound interesting and breathtaking.

WOW! I got chills! Rewind to 6:10: Miles glances at McCreary, drawing him slowly away from in front of the drumkit like some mystical snake charrner... Check McCreary's intense stare at Miles' horn. Miles puts the mute in, hand on McCreary's shoulder and they commune... McCreary riffing subtle figures as he & Miles have an intimate conversation. Mazur and Wellman weave telepathic grooves behind 'em. Fuckin' MAGIC! Masterclass: Awesome music does not have to be loud music. Key aspect of Miles' genius: creating transcendent moments as bandleader relentlessly bringing the greatness out of his musicians across 30+ years.

Cresci ouvindo muita música boa aqui no Brasil, meu Pai é músico, está com 94 anos de idade, muito chorinho e músicas instrumentais, Miles é música pura, sentimento além do âmago, não dá ouvir sem ir ao outro mundo.

This is probably the most beautiful rendition of Cindy Lauper's song, and one I would never have thoought Miles Davis would cover. And the only time I've ever really enjoy Miles's music. Bravo! Would ove to hear more in the same vein.

Me too. I saw him once in Oakland, CA in I think 19888. After the show we all went outside, backstage to get a quick glimpse. He came out with his jacket on his shoulders, wearing dark black shades. like the royalty he is. We all yelled "Miles! Miles" He took cool slow strides like a boss, waved to us briefly and and lowered himself real silky smooth like into his limo.
