these clips are from Degrassi: The Next Generation and I do not own the right to them miles hollingsworth III being mistreated by everyone in degrassi for 6 minutes straight.
i couldn’t believe hunter during this storyline in general. like he literally saw his dad 1. throw a glass mug at HIM and then 2. hit his brother ??? like i don’t understand how he had zero empathy for miles. i mean wasnt he diagnosed with being a sociopath or something 💀
@@nysclips Most of these clips are from Degrassi:TNG which was on TeenNick. They couldn’t use strong language back then. In the last few seasons, the were finally allowed to say Bitch, Slut and Whore. I do agree that there were times where stronger language should have been used. According to Shane Kippel, the actor who played Spinner, the new Degrassi series that was supposed to come out this year was going to have a lot more mature themes.
@@quantasiumDegrassi has always been mature, since Junior High, what more mature can they do? Cursing doesn’t make something mature, it makes it rated higher
"Do you ever think that maybe you're the problem?" Words like that make my blood boil. You have no idea what it really feels like feeling as if you're the problem in everyone's lives.
Mile finds out his dad is cheating. After struggling to keep it a secret he tells his mom. Then his mom blows him off and tells him it's not his problem.
I mean the only reason miles younger siblings are seen as bad is because they won't admit to the abuse they're put through. They see the amount of verbal and physical abuse miles is the target of and the only way they know how to handle it is to pretend it isn't happening (they may not be aware of the full extent of it either as they aren't in every scene where Miles and his dad are together). In the end this is the family they were rasied in, in many cases they may not even see some of the things they and Miles go through as abuse. but instead as something they deserved or were at fault for.
I could write a dissertation about how that last clip is a peak Degrassi writing scene. It so perfectly introduces us to Miles, and his dynamic with his family & Winston.
miles is my favorite degrassi character (given i’ve only seen 11-14 of tng and next class but I know most spoilers) and I know the miles stans gonna be up in here so i wanted to share an opinion. so like i think his character is super complex given all this shit that was dumped on him. but like his dad abused him for example: this whole video so then he gets a weed addiction?? like that is the most unserious thing ever. like i just wish they made his storylines more intense. like i wouldn’t wish bad shit to happen to someone but like I feel as if he would have been an even better character. if they delved into him more. to sum up my thoughts: life gave him lemons. and degrassi made him aggressively squeeze the lemons. but imagine miles as a character if those lemons exploded?
I think they did do a good job of showing how serious his issues were! Like he had problems I just think it got lost in between the other storylines. For a while he had 0 friends and was just walking around depressed. He then later meets Esme and he develops a SERIOUS drug problem. Like at one point Esme was just giving him shit and he didn’t even know what the drugs were but he was so upset about his dad, he didn’t care. But you are right. I think they should have done a relapse story with him and went deeper into that storyline. It would have been really realistic. But Miles just sort gets better after his drug accident (where he was so high with Esme that he hit his head on the pavement). He changes for the better and grows but I suppose you are right, he had the potential to have a wayyy deeper storyline.
Next class does go into greater depth and (spoiler) gives him a a genuine drug addiction among a whole bunch of other stuff. The weed “addiction” was pretty funny though lol
I just finished watching every episode .... He is in my top ten favorite 1. Maya 2.Claire 3.Spinner 4.Miles 5.Tristen 6. JT 7. Ally 8. Adam 9. Ellie 10.Grace
Degrassi never really hit the mark with weed but as a person with sobriety issues that’s heavily dependent on smoking and not being sober, I actually really enjoyed Mile’s early addiction storyline (before Esme got him on pills) Like yeah, I really stopped caring about everything and stopped taking care of myself because I was constantly high and never wanted to be sober Maybe the only weed storyline I genuinely enjoy, besides the iconic line “wanna like… blaze?” 😂
i really wish he just packed and let them get them abuse and public humiliated because then maybe he won't need to be hard drugs. i get the mom was a victim but staying in the relationship because he's gonna be "president"
The father is so full of himself, abusing his own son, does not justifying as I'm learning to be a better father.,. As for the mom idealistic for so call perfect husband does not justify for the emotional, psychological, physical, spiritual, intelligent harmed that Miles is and has endure., Nor his siblings ideology for maintaining a perfect father, perfect family, against the existence of child abused.
I am so glad that I saw Life with Derek before I saw Degrassi. For instance, George is a pretty good father but needs to do a bit better. Miles on the other hand is a jackass, but he doesn't scare me due to George being friendly and calm most of the time.
Tristan didn’t mistreat him though… Was the biphobia okay? No but Tristan was a teen and it’s not shocking that a teen would think that made sense. Also Tristan was being used by Miles to some degree.
No shade, bc I feel like it’s a me thing but: I feel like I watched a different show bc I was so shocked when I found out people liked Miles lol. I’ll have to watch again but I remember the whole time just feeling like there was way too much time spent in the Hollingsworth house.
