MILGRAM / Mahiru - I Love You [The Second Trial Music Video] 

I think that either Mahiru and her boyfriend were both originally suffering from depression and potentially suicidal tendencies, where Mahiru made her boyfriend’s depression worse, or she ruined his mental state to such a point where he became depressed and suicidal by relying on him for her own depression - in order to make him share her pain which she views as love. In her first mv, she describes how she wants to share pain with her boyfriend and have ‘matching pain’, (which she later refers to as matching love) while also saying that their ‘sickness is getting pretty bad’. It seems like she romanticises their pain, and thinks of it as part of their love. So she doesn’t want to get better, because she thinks that would harm their relationship, like where she says she ‘hates being ok’ (a more literal translation). This could also apply to her boyfriend, in that she doesn’t want him to get better either and so she gives him more pain (which she sees as love). The romanticism is also evident when she talks about ‘giving love to the point of pulling you down’, when she says she’s ‘happy to get hurt when they argue’, and when she says that wanting to die because she can’t know everything about her boyfriend is part of love - she associates these negative things positively. Another thing to note is how she mentions she wants to see her boyfriend’s ‘cute confused face’ which could be a kind of early indication that she doesn’t take his emotions too seriously; it seems likely that she would find him cute when he’s upset. I think the first mv also suggests that Mahiru isn’t as happy as she seems when she says she sucks at pretending to smile but relies on her boyfriend to feel ‘better’, which could also put a lot of pressure on him if he was already depressed, or would influence his mental state. In this mv, it seems like the cake represents the ‘love’ she was feeding him which was probably very unhealthy (which could mean the boyfriend also fed her this to some extent, or that it just represented the overall love he gave to her). When he was at his limit, feeling very depressed and suicidal, she fed him more of this unhealthy ‘love’ which made him feel even worse. I don’t think if he was fine before Mahiru he would have killed himself (unless she hurt him so badly he became depressed); it would require Mahiru to be insanely controlling which I don’t think she was (although she definitely was a bit controlling). Also, I think it’s notable how both of them are worn and tattered up in the forest, however Mahiru is content while her boyfriend is suffering - which could reinforce that she thinks their ‘shared pain’ is what makes up their love and is happy about it. So essentially Mahiru feels that their shared pain (depression, suicidal nature) makes up their relationship, so she doesn’t want the two of them to get better as she feels their pain is the love between them. She gives a lot of ‘love’ to her boyfriend, unaware that it is actually pain and hurts him so much that he wants to commit suicide, which makes her confused and regretful as to why the love she gave him caused such an ending unlike other couples.

It's safe to assume that Mahiru had no idea how toxic the relationship was until he committed suicide. It is also implied that their relationship was mutually toxic, with both of them being seen feeding eachother "cake". The difference is, one knows its a rat, the other doesn't.

やめて欲しいと思いつつ第一審の「作った笑顔」「君だから恥ずかしいことも」ってフレーズが入ってたことがずっと引っかかってるんですよね。 まひるさんが二人で生きてくお金が無かったのか自分が可愛くいるために使うお金が無いのか分からないけど身を売ってた可能性ない…？彼氏はそれを知らなくて後から知って絶望しちゃったみたいな…「なんでそんなことしたの？」って問い詰めたら「君が好きだからなんだよこれも愛なんだよ」って言われて自分のせいで彼女がそんなことしてしまった絶望から…みたいな…それをマヒルさん解釈で行くと私の愛のせいで死んだ、私の愛を否定した(踏みつけた)みたいな…ないと思いたいんですけど

MVに彼氏の姿がはっきりと描かれてるのを見るにマヒルは本当に彼氏のこと大好きだったんだなって思わされる。 終盤のボロボロ状態での テンションの違いや実際に見えてるものの差そして笑顔でネズミを顔に押し付けてるところはまさしく｢凶器は私の愛なんですよ｣。 ボイスドラマを見ると 第一審の時の奔放に自由に振る舞うようなイメージとうって変わり 非常に芯が強く意志の固い人物だというのが伺える。 自分の意志を貫きつつ、 他者の考えも尊重出来る寛大さには驚愕させられた。 でも…それと同時にそんな人間的強さと重くて芯の固い純粋な愛が人を殺したんだなって思った。

ケーキを食べさせてあげる時、彼氏さんはいちごが乗っていない側を食べさせてあげてて、マヒルは本命のいちご側食べさせてるの愛の重さの違いがあるのかなって心臓に来る。

なんか前にボーボボ見てた時「いちごの花言葉は寿退社よ！」って言っててそれのコメント欄見てたら「イチゴは花言葉が寿退社っていうより寿退社する人にあげるのがおすすめの果物」ってあって　マヒルちゃんの彼氏が甘いケーキのひとかけらだけあげてるのは「このまま甘い恋人生活送ろうね」って感じでマヒルちゃんがいちご乗せてあげてるの見ると「結婚しようね♡」って感じなのわかるんだけど私はこれをボーボボで知りたくなかった

マヒルにとっては天国みたいな恋愛だけど相手にとっては地獄ってどんな恋愛してたんだろドラマCDも楽しみ

ラストの「どうかしちゃうよこのままじゃ　すきだよって言うのもすきなのに」「気持ちはアンコントロール　迷惑だって上等」で本当に鳥肌が立ったし感動した。歌声の表現力がすごいからこそこの曲のエグさを際立ててる……

I mean the feeling of being ‘suffocated’ in the relationship was pretty implied in the first MV, but I surely wasn’t expecting for it to be so CLEAR AND LITERAL in this one

ラスサビ前のマヒルさんの歌声が震えてて、すごく悲しい気持ちになる… 最後の「大問…ﾀﾞｲ」のﾀﾞｲで暗く掠れた声になるの、ほんとに怖すぎて…

彼氏くんケーキあーんしてるとき片手受け皿にしてくれてるの優しくて好き。

トレーラー聴いたときは変わらず明るい曲調なのかと思ったけどほんとに＂重い＂感じがでてて最高ですマヒルさん

彼氏は「愛生活」だったんだろうな 歌詞にある「衣食住」とか、MVの服装とかネズミとか見るとかなり生活に困窮してたんじゃないか… 彼氏は苦しくて首括るほどだったけど、マヒルにとっては愛さえあればネズミでもケーキ食べてるくらい甘く思える生活だったってことなんかな 森歩いてるシーンは彼氏目線で、飢えが表現されてるんじゃないかと思って「ヘンゼルとグレーテル」のお菓子の家に向かう道中とか連想した マヒルが首傾げてるとことか特に2人の価値観のすれ違い感じる お目汚し失礼しました

マヒルさんの表現力がえぐくて鬱になる、好き。 追記：英訳の最後がDIEで震えた…。

最近ハマった新参者ですがこのMVみて感じたことがマヒルの愛が私と同じ愛だったって言うのに気づいた。付き合ってる期間が長ければ長いほどお互いのことを信用して手離したくないって思う。それが依存になってお互いがそう思うと共依存になったら離れられなくて辛くなる。マヒルの場合は彼氏が耐えられなくて自殺？しちゃったけど私の当時付き合ってた彼氏は耐えられない。好きかどうか分からなくなったって言って別れた。その時私は最高潮に好きで別れたり離れたりしたら私は生きていけないって言う気持ちが強かったから辛かった。きっとマヒルも同じ気持ちだったのかな。

相手を拘束しすぎて仕事とかも辞めさせちゃって貯金を使い果たして鳥かごの維持も出来ずホームレスへ。 マヒルさんは愛があれば生きていける人間で、相手が仕事も家を失っても大好きなままだったんだろうな。 でも恋人はそうじゃなかったんだろうね。 恋人はそれでも仕事も家も金もない自分を愛してくれるのはこの人だけだろうと依存しようとしたけど、マヒルさんは仕事をしてくるとかじゃなく、野のネズミを捕まえて「なんでもう歩けないなんて言うの？なんでもうついていけないとか言うの？あ、そうだ！お腹減ってるからだね！大丈夫だよ！私がご飯持ってきたよ！食べて！盗んだんじゃないよ！私がちゃんと調達してきたんだよ！お金かかって無いんだよ！すごいでしょ！おっきいほうあげるからね」みたいな感じじゃなかろうか？ いやぁ…凄いなぁ。 こんなにとんでもないのにキャラクターとして愛らしくて可愛すぎて赦したくなっちゃう。 でも現実にこんな人が存在するとしたら…看守の立場にいたらコトコさんに「他の人優先して」って陳情あげるくらいはする…。

Ngl, the music video seems to be based on her musings just after he offed himself. Which fits in with the lyrics, where it's half essentially berating herself pretty harshly. Which would only make sense if it's im hindsight. It'd also explain why it STARTS with him already dead, the music video shows her trying to think of the good times...before slowly realizing how bad they really were...

何故ネズミなんだろうと思ったけど、マヒルを猫に置き換えてるのかもしれない。 第一審でマヒルがいたのは鳥籠。でも、本当の鳥は彼のほうだった。鳥にとって猫は天敵。ただ、マヒルのほうに天敵(彼と相性が悪い人)である自覚はない。マヒルは彼に近づこうと鳥(彼と趣味などが似ている人)になろうとする。始めは順調だった。けれど、近づけば近づくほど、マヒルの本質が現れ出す。重すぎる愛。マヒルにとってはそれが好物(=ケーキ、幸せ)だけど、彼にとっては天敵の好物(=ネズミ、不幸)だった。 この先マヒルと過ごすのは耐えられない。でもきっと逃げ出すことも叶わない。最終的に彼が辿り着いた結論は死。 マヒルは直接彼を殺めてはない。けれど、いじめなどによる自殺において加害者が被害者を殺したと言われるように、彼女もまたヒトゴロシとして選ばれたのだろう。

もしかしてこれ、マヒルさんDV男にDV仕返してた？そう考えると一審の歌詞全般に心当たりある気がする… こっちのMVでも男が最初にネズミケーキあーんしてるよな…いくら愛が重くても大人同士のちゃんとしたお付き合いで普通自殺するか？って感じするしコトコさんの暴力に一切疑念を感じてないしやっぱ普通の恋愛ではなさそう というかミルグラム内のマッピーなんか善良な恋する女の人すぎて怖い あんな状態で皆のこと大好きとか言えるのがもう強すぎるしコトコさんの暴力を怖がってるのに許容してるのが怖い DV受けてる人の言動すぎる 歌詞みるに精神的に弱々になった理由って愛を否定されたのが大半だよね？1,2審MVでもずっと愛以外なんも語ってなくて怖いよ 3審で場を乱すのはおそらくアマネちゃんなんだろうけど、マッピーにももう1段階やばめの進化残されてそうで怖いな

マヒルちゃんの曲 早口＆ラップ多いのってほんとはこの量言いたいことがあったってことかな、って今思った。 彼氏さんが死んでもなお伝えきれなかったこととかいっぱいありそう。。 それくらい重い愛ってことなんだよね…、そこが好きなんだけど、お互いすれ違って悲しい思いしてるの泣ける… 純粋に愛をあげてるつもりが毒を与えることになってるのも…🥲 鳥肌立ったけど一番好きなシーンかも。

最後まで見た感じマヒルさんの今回のカバー曲がどうして『パラサイト』なのか理解できた。幸せな妄想に溺れるような自分の愛を受け取ってくれる『夢をみせて』ほしいんだね。 ぶっちゃけマヒルに脱落してほしくないから赦すにしたいけど今回も赦さないほうがいいのかもしれない。この愛は否定してその愛じゃ意味ないってことを教えなくちゃいけないんだと思った。 けどまた赦さないだとコトコがまた絶対なんかするから自動的にコトコを赦さないになるな。あとなんかフータを宗教勧誘してたアマネも曲次第では赦さないで動きを拘束しないとなんかしそう。シドウさんは引き続き治療できるようにする為に赦すにする………ここまで考えたけど第二審って滅茶苦茶頭使わないと脱落者がでるから第一審みたいに感覚だけで投票するの本当に危険だな。

マヒルにとっての愛を受け取ることが彼氏にとって耐えがたい苦痛だったんだろうね。ありがた迷惑の究極形

One snall detail I noticed is that when the boyfriend gives Mahiru the cake in the beginning, its not that big of a bite to eat. But at the end when she's feeding him the rats, its a much bigger forkful compared to the beginning. Which maybe represents how their shows of "love" for each other escalated over time into something that was very hard to handle?

マヒルさん、流石に愛なんですよと違いすぎない？ 愛なんですよはマヒルさんの初々しさは有りつつも距離感は程よい若者同士の恋愛、 だいすきは愛が溢れて溢れて堪らない！どうかしちゃう！ という様な印象を感じた。 もしかしてエス君に言われた事気にしすぎて事実はこうなんじゃないか。 というか、そうに決まってるわ って考えちゃってるんじゃ… 記憶を塗り替えちゃった説もある…？ 分かりやすく「身勝手な女」の方がリアルな背景で、幸せな時間の方はかなりフィルターがかかってる、エフェクト加工されてる、みたいな感じに見える。 2:17 のラスサビの所とかは画面がうねって砂嵐も起きてマヒルさんは迷ってるんじゃないかな… そもそも「愛なんですよ」の時は起きたら突然の出来事！って感じだったのに、「だいすき」だと自分のやった事を自覚しているのでは… 「自分は彼氏を愛してる。まあ彼氏からしたらこんな感じだと自覚はしてるんだけどね？」ってイメージ。 愛なんですよの時はまだ突然の出来事に関して楽しい思い出で耐えようとしている心中なのかなって思ったけど… ミルグラムはあくまで客観的なMVではなく、囚人本人の心理が分かるものだから、取り敢えず今はマヒルさんのショックによる思い込み説を自分は推す…

I think he's dead from the start of the video and then she deludes herself to believing he's still alive when it snaps to the chorus? He looks pale and sucked out throughout the video and we see this especially at 1:56. Maybe at that point he's decaying? I don't know why he's wet at the start of the video though. I think the cake at the end is her viewing her love as sweet but the rats symbolises sickness?

Interpretation: Pay attention to the lyrics in the captions. 0:14 "Clothes Food Shelter + Love and Miss you" Mahiru's boyfriend (I'll call him BF from now on) showered Mahiru with love and affection every time she was feeling sad. This influenced Mahiru and made her think that's how relationships worked (it seemed to be her first, after all) Now, the couple has lost their **home**, are **starving**, and wear **torn and tattered clothes**. 1:35 "Clothes Food Shelter - Love and Miss you" It's now subtraction. BF is in shambles and asks Mahiru for help. Mahiru doesn't know what to do and instead does what BF always did to her in times of stress: shower the other with love and only that. This did not help at all, and BF ended his own life from the stress of their situation. Now, she considers her way of expressing love as a deadly weapon 0:12 "My lethal weapon: "This is how to be in love with you" (which is also the title of her previous song) I didn't use a birdcage analogy for this, but I'm sure it connects in some way.

I wonder if this is mahiru waking up to her toxic habits, and in turn, revealing her partners toxic habits. At the beginning, shes reminiscing on how he fed her and loved her, but when she does the same for him she begins to realise that she was feeding him poison. The carosel representing the constant cycle of toxic codependency, she learned his habits and they ended up trapped together. The partner realised that mahirus intentions werent malicious, but just a reflection of what he had done to her and committed suicide in guilt/response. I don't think mahiru is entirely guilty here.

i love how unlike the other second trial songs, this one is just a reprised version of the first one but what does that mean??? well furthermore it only shows her situation with his possible boyfriend before he killed himself due to starvation, or it seems they've been suffering but mahiru is blissfully looking at the good side of things, probably causing her to hallucinate or implying shes probably supressing her worries, im quiet concerned.

Mahiru always have stated that a relationship should be about giving and taking since undercover. Mahiru emphasizes this line: "Clothes Food Shelter + Love and Miss you" Which showcases that Mappi is giving more to her boyfriend than what he is providing. One thing to remember is that the boyfriend works at a convenience store...they're not exactly beaming beacons of financial stability. We can see this by the cake the Boyfriend gives versus what Mahiru gives. Another interesting one is 0:15 this bit here. When she sings "理不尽 between 恋&愛" (ENG: "Unfair and stuck between in love and love") But when you listen closely, she's not saying "koi" (恋) and "ai" (愛), instead what she's saying is "Rei" (零) and "ai" (愛) "Zero/Nothing and Love" The carousel has multiple meanings. Let me just list out the relevant ones: Couples usually ride the carousel together. Either in the same horse or different ones as long as they are nearby each other. - Joy and Romance: Carousels are often associated with joy, playfulness, and a sense of enchantment. - Cycles of Love: Carousels can symbolize the cyclical nature of relationships. Love often goes through ups and downs, evolving and changing over time. - Nostalgia and Sentimentality: Carousels often evoke a sense of nostalgia and a longing for the past. It can represent sentimental feelings associated with love and romantic memories. It may symbolize a yearning for past loves, cherished moments, or a desire to recapture the excitement and innocence of early stages of love. - Balancing Acts: Carousels feature horses or other figures mounted on them, this can symbolize the need for balance and stability in relationships. There's a thing since T1 Mahiru keeps doing with her boyfriend...And that's the Breakup Ritual so he could prove to her that he really loves her as much as she does, because... She's giving way more to this relationship. Notice how the Carousel distorts everytime we see the Boyfriend providing to Mahiru. It's because Mahiru right now feels the relationship is not balanced. You can also notice with the carousel and Mappi looking away, I personally believe Mahiru believes that with love they can overcome whatever situation they are in (I'm leading up to it I promise). Notice how one of the poles is a rope. Another thing you will notice in the video, there's a green horse that constantly follows these couple together. Red = Mahiru Blue = BF Green = Something. Most likely money or nature. I'm leaning towards Money. @1:17 ish The Green Horse (Money) following the Blue Horse (BF). Then following Mahiru at her dilapidated safe place. We should also pay attention to Mahiru's lyrics here when the green horse was following 2 red horses. If you think of the green horse as money, you can almost imagine the BF is only staying with Mahiru because of money. The Lyrics allude to it with this imagery @1:31 Notice over here, the moment the green horse disappeared, they look like battered people. Mappi is the only one smiling. The chorus is probably the scariest part of the MV! Mahiru: What you trampled is my, “This is how to be in love with you” Then notice how Mahiru sings this segment, it's the POV of the BF: Boyfriend: This can’t go on, something’s got to give, I even love saying the words, “I love you” My emotions are out of control, that’s inconvenient? I don’t care! Tell me, oh tell me why, are you not here anymore? One thing I noticed immediately, why is there blood on the Boyfriend's clothes that wasn't there in the previous panels? So, for the young people here and don't know what's happening here, there are cases where someone falls in love and completely changes as a person. Their lives started to revolve around you and become obsessive. I think this is what happened to Mahiru. The Boyfriend I feel is asking, what happened to you? Where was the Mahiru I loved? Mahiru doesn't understand what he's saying and instead thought he wanted more out of her. This entire scene can be seen as Mahiru trying to provide love and support to their partner despite their circumstances, but perceiving that their efforts are met with disappointment or an unhealthy dynamic. The dead rat could represent a realization of negative aspects or a loss of trust in the relationship. Because immediately after, we see the carousel only filled with Red Horses, which I mentioned earlier could symbolize Mahiru('s love) taking over. There is also an interesting sequence that happens. Green -> Disappears First Blue -> The BF (eventually his dead body). Bonus Symbolism Post: A tea set + living room commonly symbolizes communication. A tea set often represents hospitality, social interaction, and harmony. It can symbolize a welcoming atmosphere, connection with others, and the sharing of conversations and experiences. A broken tea set typically represents disruption, disharmony, or a sense of loss. I'm not trying to start a argument or anything not saying people are wrong or anything, but this video kinda is heart clenching in a way just seeing the carousel spinning and as time goes on it becomes destroyed just makes me think about how relationships start off so dream like and overtime this feeling dies and can't go on and usually one person is left sad because they really wanted them to be the one but wasn't even if those promises that there'll be a "together forever" but come out short with nothing but the memories that were made. I can't help but feel bad when she can't grasp it because this is her first life and she thought the way they loved was right and was happy with it but yet the other couldn't do it like her, I dunno if they were actually together or not or maybe it was just a thing but never was really officially set in stone. i hesitated bringing up before but i've seen a few ppl on twitter point it out so i'll put it here too as things to consider: - the "cake" at the end of the mv was ALSO fed to mahiru at the start, in the same lovey dovey light. whether or not this was the reality or whether her bf was also giving her """cake""" is up to interpretation, but it's not something to gloss over when the whole MV is part of a bigger picture - both of theme seemed ragged from the relationship, i think they were both just... not happy, but in the VD, mahiru held no resentment to es or even kotoko, meaning she might've genuinely deluded herself into believing her suffering in the name of love was "normal" because this was her first relationship and the whole "this is fate!" stuff she brought up was said may have absolutely made it worse. it's pretty consistent that mahiru takes things a bit straightforward and even in the VD she mentions needing help having smth explained, so it's possible she 100% agreed with her bf up until he realized he'd fucked up BIG time and now in comparison to his toxic love had a demoncore gf. - to sort of add onto the above point, mahiru's T1 notes within the MV gradually build up her going "oh i like that too!" first as a mistake to gain his approval (commenting on how she'd bought a bunch of bread he liked and now didn't know what to do with it), before it turned into "omg we match sooo well he even likes the same stuff I like!!" which CAN be interpreted as her mirroring her bf. going back to the first point, he fed her the "cake", she fed him it back. :shrug: - while i didn't take it too seriously, i really don't think she's going to "live" if she's guilty voted. even if she can't off herself, she might end up just. completely devoid of warmth and become a human zombie with no more will to live, complete depression and whatnot. i truly believe she might end up like that if she DOESNT die for real because going off the VD, if she really only stayed alive/kept herself together in the name of love, then if we deny her even that and tell her EVERYTHING she's doing is wrong, what else can she do? vote how you like, i've seen a few people stay 100% on the guilty vote because yeah abusive/toxic relationships are a no-no, and some people always vote guilty just cuz they like their faves to suffer. personally i'm voting inno because i'm full stop doubling down on my theory she mirrored her bf which included his toxic traits and ended up smothering him in both genuine love and the toxicity that was brewing in their relationship as a whole. just bringing up some of these points because some people have only been zoning in on the ending scene and not connecting it back to the beginning scenes and it was bugging me a bit 👍

第一審でも指摘されてたけど、マヒルのヒトゴロシ=男性の自殺(首吊りだと筋肉の弛緩等で体液が垂れ流しになるらしく、冒頭みたいになる)で確定かな。第一審の最後の驚いた顔は死体見た時の顔か…。 第一審はファッション誌風の楽しげだった感じだったけど、今回の荒廃したメリーゴーランドとか森の中の不気味な感じって、もしかして「男性から見たマヒルさんとの思い出、もしくはマヒルさんへの感情」なのではないかな…。男性を喜ばせるためにケーキを与えてるマヒル(マヒル視点)と、口にするのもおぞましいネズミを飢えを満たす食べ物として押し付けられてる男性(男性視点)。 キラキラした楽しげなティーセットやメリーゴーランドもマヒルが恋愛に舞い上がっていたからそう見えていただけで、男性からしたら第一審であった「内緒で家に上がり込んでご飯を作る」って行き過ぎた愛情表現は荒れ果てた風景や痩せこけた自分に反映されてるみたいに辛かったのかも…。 何にせよ、まだキラキラした恋愛に浮ついた感情が見えている分、自分が男性を追い詰めた自覚や罪悪感はなさそうだし、好きだと伝えて悪いの…？みたいな感じにも思えてしまった。

I hear people saying that she was abusing him, but it sounds like she was trying her best to make him happy, but it just wasn’t having the effect she wanted. - She was shoving a dead mouse in his mouth, but she thought she was feeding him cake with the strawberry. (What he was doing to her but with a little extra.) - “My love, it scored an own goal, destroyed my love and me with its weight.” She was trying to do the right thing, but it just worked in the opposite direction. - “why can’t I just do it right” same as above. Update: Okay, here’s my current theory. In her first trial video, on Day 16, the day he “slides into the sewer” (I assume that was the day he did it, because Mahiru is wearing the same clothes in that picture as when she found him… y’know) Mahiru made him a very large meal expecting him to be happily surprised by it. She probably did this because he was in a bad place and she wanted to cheer him up (as depicted by him in the forest starving). She was practicing her cooking and thought it would be great, but in reality, her cooking was awful and tasted like dead mouse. But he didn’t want to disappoint her and ate it without telling her it was bad. And she didn’t pick up on this and thought her meal was as tasty as a cake. I think their relationship was likely full of misunderstandings like these, and it lead to the “sewer sliding.”

again, to remind you people, these cases are about whether you want to forgive what they did or not. in my opinion, for Mahiru, I forgive her. as someone who doesn't really know anything about romantic love, and never dated anyone before, I suppose we can give her a second chance. i mean, she said in the voice drama that this was her first love. she just need a love therapist to tell her things that she can do or not do in a relationship. i do know their love was toxic, but she didn't know because all she did was loving him (in the wrong way possible, just like he did to her). I think people who are calling Mahiru abusive even after watching this need to understand that it's possible to be toxic without being abusive. Being abusive requires some level of awareness of what you're doing, and part of that awareness is recognizing that there is a power imbalance. That isn't the case here- at least, not until the end. When people are in love, it tends to cloud their better judgement and make them oblivious to anything that could possibly be wrong about the relationship. Considering this is Mahiru's first time being in love and her boyfriend took the lead and fed her cake first, it's pretty clear that Mahiru genuinely believed that this was normal and this was what love was supposed to be, and didn't realize that everything was wrong until it was too late. It does seem like to an extent she was starting to recognize some flaws in the relationship, but again, when people are in love, they tend to brush off those flaws and view them as normal until things reach a breaking point. I'm voting innocent. It seems like Mahiru feels guilty for what she did and understands the weight of the situation to me.

So this mv basically confirms what a lot of people thought in the first one. Mahiru always lived her life in sunshine and rainbows as we can see in the sudden shifts in the music video. When the boyfriend is on the ground after he can't keep up with Mahiru. (possibly pleading to Mahiru???) It pulls her into reality but only for a second as we see the shift of her feeding him the rat/cake. Only after her boyfriend offs himself does she get a harsh reality check. Now personally to me, she's innocent I think Mahiru is just the type of person who doesn't like conflict and she knows her emotions are out of control, she also feels like she cant love right because she thinks that if she just LOVES her boyfriend it'll help him (obviously it didnt lol) which would explain why she chooses to live in her own little Delusion. ALSO, The rat she tries to feed him could possibly be her way of trying to push him into a delusional life with her? hence why to her it's cake when in reality it's a dirty rat. I NEVER understood the notion of Mahiru being a 'stalker girl,' when the reason she began to act so clingy was since her boyfriend was so distant. For example, day 14 of Mahiru's blog entry states 'I really wanted to go, I begged him to come with me!' So we can infer her boyfriend doesn't pay much attention to her. Another one as well, on their first date, we see that her boyfriend nearly drinks himself unconscious! And, of course, Mahiru doesn't pay any mind to that. "Then, why cover Psychogram?" DECO*27 has stated once before that "The songs each prisoner covers do not correlate to their pre-existing storylines." And of course, Mahiru knows her happiness derives from her relationship with her boyfriend completely, so she obviously doesn't want to leave him. One other thing, that may be somewhat of a stretch, it may explain Mahiru's doubt in herself. Her character bio states "I may be incompetent, but I'm so happy meeting you!"

This is kind of a silly theory, but I remember in the first MV, they went out camping for a date. What if they got lost during that camping trip and that ended with the boyfriend's death? It would explain their tattered clothes and emaciated appearance in the forest scene in this MV. As well as why Mahiru is trying to feed him a dead rat: It was their only food source. Also, is it just me or does the corpse seem... wet at the beginning?

Idk how to vote her because she clearly didn't mean to treat her boyfriend so bad and she thought she was being a good girlfriend when in reality she wasn't, but also, she was so (willingly?) blind to every sign that he might be suicidal (i kinda feel like she didn't WANT to see it, and that's kinda the worst). Aside from that and as always, the mv is amazing at depicting how she felt at that time, and the song is just great. Also i was so shocked about how the dai from daisuki becomes die at the end, such a great way to put it, in her mind she just said she loved him but it wasn't actual healthy love so it just made it worse for him 💔 I love mahiru as a character and im very excited to see how her trial turns out

OH OKAY, SO MAHIRU MAY BE DELUSIONAL. UM, LET ME PROCESS THIS. Okay, so I think Mahiru may have been deluding herself this whole time, completely living in a fantasy of this cute love story. However, all her actions were actually abusive to her partner so he killed himself because he couldn't take it anymore. I think because we voted her guilty, we sort of disillusioned her? Like we're seeing less of the lovey dovey fantasy in the first MV and more of the reality of the situation. BUT OMG THIS MV HIT HARD. I DIDN'T THINK WE'D SEE THAT MUCH.

Although the scene with the forest and mouse could have been figurative, I have a theory if it’s taken more literally. Maybe they actually lost their necessities. We saw in the first MV that Mahiru wanted to spend every waking moment with the guy (if you don’t hug me our hearts will start drifting apart) it seems like she wanted to hold onto the love so much that she felt they had to be together every second. I think maybe she quit her job to spend more time with him and with her calling him super early on the phone every morning and forcing him to wake up she consumed his life and made him so exhausted he lost his job. It also seemed like they were spending a lot of money in the first one with the first one features a shopping catalogue, and scenes where like she gets her hair done, and they go out for fancy dinners. Maybe then ran through all of their money got into debt and because they both no longer had jobs they couldn’t pay it off so they lost their home and could no longer afford food or new clothes. She sees love as more important than other vital possessions so in her mind everything is still happy and wonderful because she still has “love” but in reality they’re having to eat mice to survive. She perceives it as cake and doesn’t mind but the lifestyle is too much more the guy and he decides he can’t take it anymore

While I do agree that Mahiru didn't deserve what happened to her, some of you have to realize that she isn't a complete saint herself either. She's been constantly idolizing a toxic relationship and claiming it's 'love', she doesn't seem like she realizes what she's done wrong nor does she want to stop either (like what she said in T2 that being told her love was wrong was like being told to stop living) even though this very same love had most likely driven her partner to his suicide. I do also believe that her partner was also toxic to some degree, but that does not excuse her own actions that led to this degree. She's just a very morally grey case in my eyes... Mahiru probably thought what she's doing is right, but aslong as she doesn't realize what's wrong then there's a likely chance it will happen again. But to be fair, that's also the case with most characters in Milgram. It just doesn't click with me right when people treat Mahiru like some sort of angel that's never done anything wrong when clearly she's done her own fair share of harm in this codependent relationship (they both fed eachother cake), her wrongs are what make her a compelling character so don't wipe them away guys!! 😣

I think people, specially those who are conflicted, should wait to see the voicedrama before voting. I can find big motives to not forgive her but also some to do it and so I will wait as I always do. She drove someone to taking his life which is horrible and undenably her fault but she also wasn't aware of this (maybe because she was in denial) and thought that it was love and that if something is love it is okay and obviously repents of what she did even if at the same time she is not able to imagine a life without love. I think it might be possible for her to someday understand how she doesn't have to renounce to love but to her toxic approach to it.

As much as I don’t want Mahiru to be found guilty again, I’m glad this video isn’t making the choice easy. I was getting a little disappointed with this season with how the last two videos seemed to be pushing the audience to vote for one result far more than the other. So I’m happy we’re finally getting some mixed signals from the videos again.

I voted her innocent because she didn't kill him. Her boyfriend killed himself. Mahiru thought she was just showing love to him. So, innocent.

Mahiru taking delusional on another level

My thoughts are that Mahiru was in a toxic and overwhelming relationship, both ways. The food represented her “affection”, the way she portrayed her love to her boyfriend. Mahiru viewed these actions as sweet and good (strawberry cake), while in reality the way they treated eachother was toxic, overbearing, and detrimental to both of their mental states (rats). I also think it’s worth noting Mahiru being almost cat-like in the PVs- from pouncing into the feathers in T1 to bringing her boyfriend dead rats in this video. Great Pet Care says “Since our house cats regard us as part of their posse, many cats will bring us dead animals (often intact) as a sign of affection”. She loves him, and brings him these dead rats as a gift of her affection (not literal rats, guys), not seeing that these are bad for him. He’s hungry, but Mahiru’s hurtful words may just look like playful teasing to her. He gave her the cake first in the PV, so this harmful treatment, whatever it may be, isn’t one sided. But neither of them can bring themselves to end the relationship and get off the carrousel, despite it causing them so much pain. When you’re wearing rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags. Also, this is Mahiru’s first relationship. The way he treats her, however good or bad it may be, builds the foundation for her perception of “love”. This is clear in the first song, “This is How to Be in Love With You”. Might not be tradition ways of expressing love, but she thinks this is normal! This is good! This is how love is for us, it’s fine! A couple lines that stand out are “We fought sometimes, I was happy to get hurt” and “Let's have matching pain, this sickness is pretty bad”. She doesn’t care if the two are harming one another, she just wants to match that which she believes to be powerful love. She wants to be with him more than anything. If he’s hurt, she wants to hurt as well. She thinks that’s how it works- that they both have to be in mutual pain or feel the same in order to fully love one another. She’s very passionate about this relationship, to the point that she’s suffocating him and moving faster than he can (around 1:40 / 1:45 ). She’s giving as much as she can in quantity, but he can’t deal with all of it. But she’s only giving him more of what he gave her a taste of to begin with, right? They’re both tattered, starving, and suffocating, but she thinks it’s fine because they’re in pain together. Until the only out he sees is through death. Feel free to discuss, these are all just my guesses! The cool thing about Milgram is that there are so many ways to interpret one MV, and we won’t know the full story for quite a while. It’s unhealthy for both of them, but that’s the only way she knows to love. Similar to how cats bring rats and other dead animals to their owners, Mahiru was trying to show her boyfriend her love but only hurt him in the nature she expressed it. )
