Military aircraft land in support of President Biden's trip on Marine One in France 🇺🇸 🇫🇷

Military helicopters and equipment arrive by plane ahead of President Biden's trip to France for the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings during World War II.
Three VH-3D Sea Kings of the United States Marine Corps were transported to Normandy by C-17 Globemasters of the US Air Force. One will assume the callsign of 'Marine One' when the President of the United States is flying aboard. The others will act as decoys. Four CH-47 Chinooks of the US Army also arrived to fly White House staff, press and security with the President.
This anniversary of D-Day marks 80 years since allied troops landed on the beaches of Normandy to liberate France and the rest of Europe from the Nazis in World War II. The event commemorates the allied invasion and thanks the veterans who took part, while also remembering the thousands who perished on June 6th, 1944.

What is the device that is attached to the top of the starboard sponson, on the presidential VH-3 Sea Kings? It is seen with a protective covering, as it is offloaded from the Galaxy transport aircraft.

Having looked at one without the wrapping . I think it’s the rest of the same compartment that the wheel retracts into after takeoff. Why the cover has two colours I do not know. Maybe it’s in two pieces.

Likely an electronics pod. Shaped like a large rugby ball. There are pictures of it uncovered. Helicopter APU's are typically at (or near) the engine.
