How hard is it to get visas for the African countries that don't allow visa on arrival? Is it a long wait time ? And my other question was how much does it cost in general to ride through Africa? I've been saving trying to have 25k cad to ride from south Africa to Kenya and am wondering if I need more or if it's alot cheaper than that

The border crossings between Western Sahara and Mauretania and Mauretania-Senegal were in the past one of the worst border crossings. All border patrols wanted Bakschisch-money. Looks like they changed the mood. If you want to cross in general critical regions with many checkpoints you have to copy your passport documents multiple times, like 50 pieces for example. :D

"como estas?" isn't necesarily a universal way of greeting; if you ask a Norwegian "how are you?" the question sounds more like "how's it going?" rather than "hello" - so you'll get an honest answer, maybe a bit awkwardly - like the question surprised them a bit - just like that guard, "How am I? Ah, well - I'm doing so-so... "
