Just a common tip to save from losing a few knives or spikes for those who also practice in wooded areas - I'm sure it only happens to me, lol, but i sometimes miss the target entirely, the knife/spike sailing off into the thick brush, often never to be seen again ( I've lost count.). I finally bought some flourescent pink plastic dip, dipped the butt end of my throwers so they all have bright pink ends and it's saved me quite a few throwers from being lost. You can have a knife that's slid into the ground and disappeared, but you'll often spot a little spot of bright pink peaking out when dipped. Silly tip, but it works!

Thats a good idea my friend. You can also buy a Stronger magnet ( used for magnet fishing) and find your lost knifes.
@luke__s0l0
@luke__s0l0 11 месяцев назад
Bruh how do you lose a knife like that. Just look at where it lands. Look at which plant moves. I've lost some small kunai before but I always found them. When you know it's there just look for it. Also you could just look for a spot that's dried leaves with no bush. Can't imagine losing a good throwing knife and mine don't even cost that much.
@goldenagenut
@goldenagenut 11 месяцев назад
@@luke__s0l0 The dead trees I threw at were surrounded with thick weeds/bushes. It's usually easy to find a knife but sometimes it will hit the ground and slide into/under thick growth and disappear. If I'd had a metal detector back then i could have found them I'm sure - the knives I lost were flea market cheapies, no big deal. It happens much more with spikes which I throw often, they can slide into some weeds and hide really well but that pink dot shows up well in dead foliage - I make my own anyway so it's no huge problem/cost. I don't throw anything expensive lol.

When I was 9 or 10 years old, from the back of a comic book I ordered a Whamm-o Malayan throwing dagger for $ 1.98. that came with a booklet teaching that style. I became very good, but my target was a barn door made from 200 year old wood. I could hit it on every throw. I never thought if I had 3 of them it would save many steps.

@@AdamCeladin Adam, I Love the Stinger's the best, but the Daggers are interesting, and actually help with no spin, cause their design let's me see the push part with my forefinger better, the Excalibur is like you said, super cool on instinctive throwing, and my Vengeance arrows are very close, and a little different from the Stinger's, but the Stinger's overall, so forgiving on bad throws, and penetration is insane on all of them, but super on the Stinger's, haha, I still have to try the Finn.

Good tutorial, Adam. The super-slomo makes it much easier to see what is happening with the release. I didn’t realise that you actually put pressure on with the thumb by crooking it slightly - this may be why I find the knives over-rotating at the longer distances. Back to the practice range!

Slowing down the slow motion to 1/4 speed I found out the following: you get more distance by releasing earlier with the knife tilted backwards more. This likely contributes more to the distance than moving the knife deeper into the hand. It's a skill you got from your no spin throwing. I do not have that skill. You can also slow the rotation by releasing very far forward. When I put all the tricks together to slow the rotation: finger on spine, knife deep in hand, release point all the way forward I can only get to 6m on half a rotation and the throw already feels unnatural and loses power.

Man, its insane what you can do! I have no clue about knive-throwing at all, just threw a few knives whitout any idea about propper technique when i was younger... broke or lost most of them in this process... I'm really currious about how you approach a "random" throw. Do you imagine how many spins it will take to hit propperly? Do you adjust rather the distance to the target or the amount of spins (when not using a technique without a fixed amount of spins). Do you pick the throwing technique according to the situation or more like adjusting a pre-selected technique to the given situation? Sorry if this questions are newbish and answered allready, but after watching some of your videos im totally staggered that this does does work at all. Big respect for that skill and the dedication and invested training-hours it must have taken to get there!

Do you practice realistic combat throwing? This means facing away from target and moving, deploying knife from belt, turn, acquire target and throw. All in one quick fluid motion to simulate practical use in a combat situation. I was a LRS in US Army and this is how we learned to throw. I'm very surprised because I never see people practice functional throwing. To face target and take time is too easy!

Thank you Adam for sharing your experience, as usual, you still the best teacher I've seen on the internet, always good advices. I believe you make a lot of people start throwing because you make it look easy. Might seem pretentious, but I think I've found a new technique for throwing. Haven't seen it anywhere yet. For the moment I keep it secret because it seems very effective and even a begginer can throw efficiently with little experience and have great results. I'll see how it evolves, and keep experimenting with it before 'comming out' with it'. if you're interested in it, I'll keep you posted about progress, but very excited beside my 'no spin' training! Thanks again my friend, stay safe and take care!
