@Penny4Bernie 2020 none of them, tulsi's alright i guess. And did you really not know about obama? He may have inherited the wars in iraq and afghanistan but he then goes and orders drone strikes in somalia, libya, pakistan, syria and yemen, drone strikes whose kills were about 90% civilian casualties. Bernie has voted in favor of every military bill obama has put forward not to mention he supported clintons military action in kosovo and he supporte NATO's bombing in yugoslavia in 1999. I get that you like bernie but he is not antiwar just because he said he is
@Penny4Bernie 2020 Kosovo may have been legitamate but the rest were not. Bernie is still hypocritical. Tulsi is the better candidate but the DNC's corruption keeps Tulsi from debating
Something that some should also remember is that while the Kennedy family was powerful, and JFK was not initially a "Saint," he started out like every politician of that era - stuck in the mindset that America had to have enemy, always, which was the Soviet Union at that time. When JFK started to do a one eighty to end Imperialism, to challenge the status quo, he was essentially like Caesar with many enemies surrounding him. A true coup de tat happens when the perps get away with it.
I think there should be an anti military industrial complex.I mean Medical Industrial Complex and Education Industrial Complex.Because Healthcare and Education is more important
Perhaps you're not understanding how this works. The government/corporate synergy leads to massive corruption and abuse/deception of the people. We have a medical industrial complex, it's big pharma. We have a Food Industrial Complex: Big Agriculture & factory farming. We have an Educational Industrial Complex: propaganda news outlets and our education system from K through Doctorate being highjacked by academic elitists with bad theory and no practical knowledge.
They make Eisenhour sound like a hero, the horros he committed on Germany specially after WW2 ended is well documented for those who care to lift the veil of decit and look
+David W Well...depends who you ask. My grandfather, who was part of the Wehrmacht (Not the Nazi army) during the Second World War, joined the military during 1934 and lasted managed to survive till the end of the war, mentioned that it was all for the Fatherland. Not unlike how we fight for our country in the United States. He wasn't a Nazi, he didn't like Hitler and he had such a sense of national pride that during the war he believed he was protecting Germany. Most of my family was killed off when the Russians came to East Prussia (I am Prussian, not German, but I don't think you care to know the difference). The only ones that survived were a few people who got out early and my grandfather who was in the military. He fought at Stalingrad, he was on the Eastern Front where the fighting was at it's most brutal. And he survived. But you have to understand the state of Germany after the First World War. It was harsh, desolate, and nearly impossible to make a living. For my grandfather, who came from a military family, the logical choice was to join the military. The most important thing he said was that he hopes that future generations, anywhere in the world, would learn from the Second World War the cost of blindly having pride in their country. Did he regret fighting in the Second World War, no. Was he a Nazi? No. He was just a soldier fighting a war against other soldiers, believing that he fighting for the his family back at home. There's no questioning that the leadership of Germany during World War Two was psychotic at best. But to say that the civilians were lucky is just short sighted and lacks a basic understanding of history. Open up a book, read into the history. It's much more complicated than what you believe. Because I can see the United States following the same road that Germany did. Maybe not with genocide but nevertheless just as harmful. And to let you know, family on my mother's side fought for the Norwegian Underground during the war. A few of us were put in concentration camps, never to be seen or heard from again. So next time you say something that's fucking off the mark, just keep it to yourself. It'll make you a better person. Not that you'll listen to me, but it's an attempt.
Blind pride in this country is on continual display. The extreme belief in American exceptionalism permeates the nation. The similarities to NAZI Germany are concerning.
Big problem with politics today is using a 5 y/o's perspective, looking at everything like it's a comic book, with heroes or villains. Every president is at best a complex character. Their tarnished track records should not detract from the truth found in their rare earnesty.
Try he founding fathers, who were rich white men, and this country has tried to keep it that way ever since. Put that together with the Rockefeller's, and we have one volatile way of life.
That's why I'm voting Green from now on. At least when the nuclear arsenals are unleashed to wipe out most of the human race, I won't be held accountable, if there is an afterlife.
But Jill sold out and that makes her just as dangerous as any. I'm not trying to bust stones here, but when someone says "if" there is an afterlife shows little to no faith and that alone hold us accountable. It's better off to be hot or cold than lukewarm, it is spewed from God's mouth. Chin up brother Trump has our back. I'm 55 and it's the first time I voted because I didn't want to endorse the lies, thieving murdering ways of the left and right. A lot came out in the open this election, things most know, but when it's confirmed is another story. Out votes doesn't really matter, but Trump cleaned that up. I never was a big Trump fan, but I have to say he's done more good for this country so far and he's not even seated yet than Obama did in 8 years sad but true. Trump put a hurting on the NWO and China is having a fit because they paid the liberals off to take all of our resources and country over and couldn't deliver, Trump has put a huge dent in NAFTA that Bush wrote and Clinton signed in that was killing us and a huge chunk of businesses are coming back including some of China's and that's why China is breaking the holt agreement on nuclear arms, Russia jumped in on this as well, but not against Trump but China, Trump then jumped on it stating we will do the same until the world comes to its senses meaning China. We need a president that knows business and wont back down from a bluff or threat, if we did we're done for. I don't want war whatsoever. Talk to God he is there.
MrBrymstond I think all politicians are seduced by power in one way or another. It's because we are still stuck in the paradigm of competition rather than cooperation. We are not yet in a condition of full humanity. We are only on the road. I'm afraid you're going to be sorely disappointed with Trump. A man that's spent his entire life pursuing his own greed is now fully for the people? I'll believe that change of heart when I see it. Just for the record, I'm agnostic, and expect full accountability from humans in this life. I know that I don't know. I don't believe one for or against a God. It is a mystery to me that so many Christians trust Trump. He is just about as diametrically opposite Christ as one can get. More like the mythical Satan really. That's my view.
lol.. information is in.. Trump is your typical establishment republican. go figure, the perception was created, as it always has been in the past, people bought it, history repeated.. people were 'fed up with the politicians', someone who was not a 'politician' was brought in, it convinced people.. its always about creating the perception something is happening, and thats as deep as people look... as far as war goes... i mean its just speculation, but, any further war far to extends already stretched resources.. aside from intentional collapse, i can't see it happening. (or, there are some unknown magic mechanisms yet to be enacted like the current AI algorithms being used on the stock market and the federal reserve's direct input into the stock market). However the military budget has increased. but i guess R&D alone could cover this, with these upcoming technologies..
Please note that at :41 Ike DOES NOT stutter on the word 'guard'. I post this on 1/04/19. This is the way I remember the speech, this part of it, in dozens of viewings. Yet if you go to the archives and other YT versions, most have him stuttering on the word 'guard.' See ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CWiIYW_fBfY.html It's about 2 - 1 on YT in favor of versions that contain the stutter. Again, I had never heard/seen the stutter before, in dozens of views of this part of the speech. Yet I can't find a full video version of the speech without the stutter. The stutter is in the Ike Library audio-only archive. This makes no sense, as many other people say the same thing (no stutter). In fact, as of today, it's about 20 to 1 that say they never heard the stutter. Think about the odds here -- that (basically) no one (the one may or may not be genuine) remembers the stutter, as obvious as it is. I suggest folks look into the 'Mandela Effect'. (If you think it's just a matter of someone editing out the stutter, you have to think about Why no one remembers it with the stutter, at least as of today.) If you have thoughts ideas on this contact me at my blog at blog.banditobooks.com, especially starting with this one: blog.banditobooks.com/a-brand-new-mandela-effect/
"In political discourse, every term has two meanings. You gotta start by recognizing that. So, a democracy has an official meaning which is something like the ability of the public to take part in running their own affairs, or something. But it also has a technical meaning; the one that is actually used. Uh, something is a democracy if it is run by the business classes. If business runs it, especially business elements that are supportive of U.S. interests, then it is a democracy...
Eisenhower - a man some people will be quick to call a bigot, on a trememndous historic oversimplification, because of some of his decisions - had real integrity. IMHO, he was naive in some areas, had old ideas on others but did a tremendously deep, albeit synthetic, analysis during his farwell speech. I re-watched it recently and found it interesting his analysis had a pinch of historic materialism when he argues about the impact of the huge standing military would have on US society. (historic materialism, as I understand it, is a method of analysis created by Marx that considered the interactions between the material considitions and current social organizations to explain historic and sociologial developments. Note that I'm not a specialist and my understanding is probably wrong or, in the best case, incomplete and oversimplified.)
If each US citizen is really serious about cutting the insane defense, or rather offense budget, then they should stop paying tax, they cannot jail 100 of millions citizen anyway.
And we wonder why there is problems everywhere, because the profiteers still own Warfare, Healthcare, Monetary Systems, Education, and Business. Government is not the issue its the profiteers, the people without any humanity. Congress needs exclusive control over these primary functions of society without any financial lobbying influences. The Executive branch has shown themselves to be incompetent or powerless, which makes sense since we are not a monarchy but a democracy.
Thank you for this video .. This is why I donated to the real news in the first place :) :) So that they could bring out more stories about the military industrial complex.. Ultimately it will open up vistas of where the whole money is flowing from the feds to bigger and above top secret projects....
Excellent synopsis, great guest, with a very insightful interview. I'm a big supporter of The Real News Network, even sent some money, and wish them the best success, but just one criticism here: Paul Jay will never endear himself to young Americans if insults the quality of the their education--no matter how bad it may be, it was an impertinent comment. Would've been a perfect interview without it.
There are many reasons to spend on the military other than to fight..... Scientific, economic, and diplomatic research and work. Also for our national security. Also it's tradition. And more and more reasons
Since when was it a "tradition" spending all this money on the military that didn't take effect until during the Cold War in the 1950s when Eisenhower was in office and he tried to limit the spending on it because he knew that the Soviet Union was not a direct threat. And its proven that our big bad powerful military is "poweless" to stop terrorism, like the guy said once thousands hit the streets its game over.
If not, it's not a democracy. It doesn't matter...nothing else matters, virtually. (If) you'll check, you'll notice this criterion works quite perfectly for identifying democracy..."
ACTUALLY, THE "MILITARY-INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX" BEGAN DURING THE CIVIL WAR. Lincoln basically gave his generals a "blank check" to ramp up the Union army & navy. After the war, this relationship continued with the wars against the Native Americans, then the Spanish-American War, and then WW1. The only difference back then was, there were periods of SANITY during which the military faced large cuts in funding. However, this "cutback" philosophy ended after WW2 and the start of the Cold War with the global "boogeyman" of Communism. SINCE THEN, the Pentagon basically gets whatever it wants.
+Mary A < Spoken by (no doubt) a southern christian or baptist? "The jewish controlled north destroyed our slave owning ways, but rather than admit it was about slave ownership, we made it about states rights." < The poor poor south, never to rise again... booohooohooo..
The military industrial complex (mic) is privately owned and contracts with and to the public military. Why isn't this angle being investigated? It is also true that even though America went in and devastated Iraq, the mic still to this day controls the pipelines and all exports of oil coming out of Iraq. There is a small group of people making a lot of money. So there is an agenda that is being missed here and we would all be better off if this was brought up in context of this issue.
They say what they have too in order to get in power. They do what it takes to stay in power. If you imagine the Democrat's and Republican's as one in the same you can see how successful a two party system has been even when either sides policies have shown to bare no fruit.
@waterhead001 Progressive Liberal = New-Con for all intents and purposes. In fact, the progressive liberal ideology is that you must move towards a stronger and stronger federal government with more and more government regulation of the private sector until you are left with a socialist economic structure and then later move to a communist socio-economic system. The Neo-Con ideology is similar in it's approach however the end game isn't communism but fascism.
Who is the #US Military Industrial Complex?? Who controls them, what are their names? If they can be identified & exposed, surely then you will find out who managed to force the US "government" to look the other way on 9/11?
Overall I think this report is of good quality. I believe that the military-industrial complex as no allegiance to parties only to money. I would remind everyone that JFK refused to go to war on SIX different occasions and had ordered the return of advisers (he never sent combat troops) from Vietnam. Eisenhower advised Kennedy to send troops to Laos and Vietnam. See the movie and book Virtual JFK. By leaving that info out it appeared that Kennedy was same, which I dont believe for a second.
Imagine how many people all around the world could have really meaningful jobs if all the money spent on military purposes instead was spent on civilan purposes.
I'm sorry but if you have taken a basic American high school history class and you don't know Dwight D Eisenhower is, then our education system has failed you and the american public as a whole.
@407buddy I didn't vote for him. But, I was willing to give him a chance. I wish I knew then what I know now. I really can't blame anyone for voting for him. Considering how bad Bush was. The good thing in this is alot of people are understanding what is going on. Let's all learn from our mistakes.
@duezeri1968 You think people will be insulted to hear the schools they attended criticised? They believe them to be perfect? I guess Paul Jay couldn't resist pointing out how useless that education is and I'd say he has no more reason to withhold criticism of that than refrain from criticising anything else....Ghadaffi might be offended by some Real News videos too...and why not?
"If you like this story send $5 to the real news" WITH NO EASY WAY EXPLAINING HOW! marketing guys. you want more donations, you need to learn how to market better.
too bad, we don't understand it is...cuz you and I, are paying for it. We are basically, borrowing money, to invest in their international criminal enterprises.
Why did he increase advisers from 1000 to 12000 by 62' and increase South Vietnam forces from 150,000 to 170,000 to include equipment. He also increases helicopter support to 300 by the end of 62'.
+Blah Bla < Are you willing to hire a Jew as President? < I hope so, cuz Im an American Jew. Everyone else has had a president now, why not a jew? < Bernie is an avowed socialist.. but, it may actually be what we need now, someone who actually is a social democrat .. I always hear NSDAP in my head when I say that, but Bernie just isnt hitler, lol.
