Introduced in the late 1960s, the Mossberg pump-action shotgun is known as the premier shotgun during tactical operations. Its robust construction, ergonomic design, and versatility have made it a trusted choice for military personnel and law enforcement.
The 590's 12-gauge chamber allows for the use of a wide range of ammunition, including buckshot and slugs, enabling it to adapt to different tactical scenarios. The shotgun's pump-action mechanism ensures reliable operation even in harsh conditions. Its durability has made it a favored shotgun for urban warfare. The Mossberg 590's compatibility with various accessories like stocks, sights, and foregrips enhances its effectiveness.
The 590 has witnessed extensive use in conflicts and law enforcement operations, contributing to its iconic status. It has served as a reliable companion to military forces in countless engagements and security operations worldwide. Its popularity has grown over the years, making it the perfect shotgun for self-defense and sport shooting. The Mossberg 590's enduring presence is a testament to its historical significance and the trust it has earned among those who value its reliability and effectiveness.

Mossberg is highly overlooked by "fancier" brands. I got a 590 shockwave under my bed right now. I put a OPSol mini shell adapter and now it holds 9x mini 12 gauge shells. Perfect for home defense!

The one thing I do like about the Mossberg is the ability to use the mini shells. Especially the new S models that can use both without the adapter.

Literally the one gun I would ever need. If I could only have one long gun and one handgun for the rest of my life I’d go with a mossberg 590A1 and a S&W 686 + with a 4 inch barrel!

Best pump shotgun. Mine has plastic stock and forensic but these guns are tanks. At 40 yards 00 buck all nine pellets in human sized targets. Slugs at 100 yards are all touching. Best bang for the buck in the firearms world in my opinion.

There are still scars on the US Marshals Service's second-floor Squad Room ceiling (covered with acoustic tile) where a rookie Deputy, against our district’s policy, brought in a loaded one in the chamber shell and hit the floor, and it discharged. Luckily the only casualty was the ceiling tile and the Deputy’s reputation. That was back in the 90s. The culprit was a Remington 870 standard-issue shotgun in the USMS. I bought my own CAR-15 a week after that incident. My safety is my trigger finger. I retired on December 31st, 2017, with a combined 30 years of military and federal law enforcement service. Stay safe.

Mossberg's are like having birds for a pet. You start off with one, end up with more of them than one person should have, and they don't die.

Great review and reminder on how to be safe at all times around shotguns. What happened to soldier shot in the leg?? Ouch!! So is this the shotgun you recommend, and what's your take on using a pump vs. semi-auto?
@harvestblades
@harvestblades 11 месяцев назад
I would like to see Tim reply but in my humble opinion for most of us where this isn't a "work" tool, but rather for self defense, putting food on the table, sport/fun & especially for a rainy day a pump is arguably better as they are less picky about ammo. My pump guns will cycle damn near anything they are chambered for while I've seen Benelli's & other pricey semi autos fail to cycle especially with lighter dove rounds or if they get dirty (keep your guns cleaned & lubed) or dry. Also whike the 590a1 is great, a standard 590 works just fine as does a standard 500 series shotgun which can be bought new for cheap & used in great Co diction for even less. With the standard 500 series it is also takes less than 5 minutes to swap out barrels so you could have a long smooth bore (with the option of chokes) for harvesting various birds, rabbit squirel or whatever you want or need to eat, throw on a ride slug barrel with sights for harvesti g big game at longer ranges with slugs, & then even throw on a short "tactical" barrel for ho.e defense. You could do that with a 500 series for the price of the 590a1, & that's still much less than even a budget Benelli semiautomatic let alone a M4.

The 590 is such a old warhorse but the 1301 is godly So simple also just give me a Red dot or ring sight and saddle car loader and any shooter will have a blast Even the JM Tactical by mossberg is great Use a mossberg for Turkey and waterfowl and never had issues and smooth shooters just make sure it feeds the correct length shells

No way. You need that super soldier military training. Then you need to maybe write a book about your super soldier military training and experiences. After that, maybe start a coffee company or sell t shirts, perhaps even sell a course online that teaches super soldier military mindset. Then after you’ve made it very clear, via multiple avenues of marketing, that you do indeed have the grit & super soldier military training, you can possess this weapon of war.

Thank you 👍. Question please … with the heat shield on barrel, if gun gets wet (i.e. rain, snow) how do you wipe down outside of barrel to get water off barrel to keep it from rusting? Is heat shield removable? (That’s the only thing keeping me from buying it.)
@cole4537
@cole4537 11 месяцев назад
100% the heat shield is removable. With the heat shield on, I’d just do my best at doing a good job at wiping it down with it attached. As previously stated, you can always remove the shield to do a wipe down if you feel the need. Hope this helps!

Cleary I Commented before getting far in the video. Now I havent beat my 590 but pur hased it used & havent had an issue w the polymer trigger & neither do most folks. Still not a bad upgrade, to do in the future, but I would rather have a 590 today & replace the trigger down the road then waiting to save enough for an A1.,

Should I be allowed to own this one, Tim? Reminder to all: Tim does not think 19 year olds should be able to own either a pistol or an AR. He thinks if a right is damaging to other people then it should be curtailed. And he believes you should demonstrate your right to own a gun by undergoing a (much harder) background check. Source: Lance Armstrong interview.

A lot of people who like to comment on FBI business who only know media snippets and Internet garbage. I wish some of these so-called informed people would engage with people who were there and saw the FBI change over time. Give the American public a more objective account of recent FBI action and how we got here.
