As usual, quality will always dictate more money. It is sad to see what has happened to the Milsurp market and hobby. It is getting to the point that the common man is being priced out. Unless you have very deep pockets.

Carcano is aound 300 now. Ammo is $1.75 a round. I bought one because my grandfather carri ed one and his "take home" bayonet fit. That was cool.

Did find a mosin at a yard sale for $70 last year and its in great condition. 7.62x54 ammo is still cheap and easy to find.

I am genuinely happy for your success. A yard sale? Wow. Must have happened in a red, gun friendly, non leftist commie state. Screw the atf criminals. I have 5 mosins myself, 4 m38/44 carbines and one sporterized m91/30. I prefer the carbines. WHAT TYPE WAS YOURS?

Great video, that cheap $100 one is nice for that money these days. The problem I would have is finding ammo for it and reloading equipment.

Those class C surplus I would only buy them for my son to collect and reenact military history. They are to far messed up for me to collect. I bought a mosin nagant that needs a new barrel I temporarily made safe to handle until I can get a new barrel(it will not receive cartridges into the chamber).

I bought my 1896 Swedish Mauser for $69 back in the early 90's. It is a 1920 Carl Gustav, all matching numbers.

my first deer rifle was a k-11 scmidt reubin which I purchased around 1970 ( my mom had to sign for as I was 14 at the time) I paid 29.99 for it from Wards back when mail order guns were still a thing. I currently have a Yugo 24/47 in perfect ( brand new) condition I paid around 500.00 for it 10 years ago. just reminiscing...

A friend of mine from high school got me into reenacting and we used to buy k98 for as little as $300 all day long and sometimes somebody would get an exceptionally nice one and they would pay for $500 but now you spend $500 on a k98 you get a piece of crap

I still find tolerable deals in some of my local gun shops but you have to stay on the prowl and check their racks often. I picked up a beautiful 1904 Swedish M96 mauser rifle for $570.00 a couple of weeks ago.

A few years ago (5-6), you could get Arisakas for under 200. Bought two, a Type 99 and a Type 38 carbine with mum and dust cover, for 400 for both. Now, a Type 99 last ditch cost more than that

The only reason I sold my Radom 98 Mauser is that Straight Bolt Handle coming back at my nose with the Recoil of the 8x57 Mauser did not seem like a Good Idea for a Left Handed Shooter. Not many acceptable options for South Paws .

A lot of times THE AVAILABILITY OF CERTAIN AMMO decides whether it's worth it. Saw a 30. 40 krag for sale. Beautiful condition, 375.00 dollars. Ammo? Only ONE company, remington, offers fresh recently made ammo....AT 88.00 A BOX OF 20 ROUNDS. Even teloading for oddball calibers is expensive. The days of good surplus in spam cans from the former soviet union ARE LONG GONE.

I should make a video on how i reload 30 40 krag for 10 cents a shot

@@theblindsniper9130 that would be good, but even finding brass is a problem. Used to reload in my younger days, not now. That is a good idea.

They are dogshit, ammo is impossible to find, and the guns themselves are insanely overpriced

Good stuff. Showing people interested in milsurps a way to give it a whirl without breaking the bank. I personally love the old military guns. Thanks! And I am watching and you are saying "grade C" and "from Africa" - so these are from RTI I guess.

Get one and you will find out. Or if you want modern, then maybe a law enforcement trade-in Glock is more your speed.

Because they hold collectors value and can still be used for normal stuff like hunting and range shooting. Its funny you think a gun has to not be obsolete. Not everyone buys a gun to be tacticool on Instagram.

Saying they have no utility just proves the old adage, "Better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
