I believe you are correct. He says the audience didnt know DDP. Then he says he wanted to show a different DDP than they were used to. Make it make sense.
The WWE audience didn’t know DDP!? Dude, the reaction when he unmasked was insane, are you kidding me?? Why did WWE have him pull his mask off with the big reveal if they thought nobody would know him? And Conrad, what happened to you calling Bruce out on his BS? Is he THAT sensitive now that this is forbidden? Jesus guys
They buried DDP, he should have been feuding with Rock. Booker got over but thats cuz he stuck around forever. It took years for them to let him win a match, let alone a feud.
Booking decisions aside, the idea that the WWF audience didn’t know DDP was my point of contention and the fact that Bruce wasn’t called out immediately on that. They literally reacted in a HUGE way to his reveal & WWF knew they would, that’s why they had him pull his mask off in the first place.
On pretty much every I have been waiting for Bruce to just blow up and rip into Conrad with mad fury for all of the ridiculous ‘Meltzer said…’ stuff Conrad spews out like holy scripture.
They took a great angle from 2 years before and made it stupid goofy, okay, the dork with the milk truck is spraying down the entire Alliance of like 20 people and no one does anything besides the goof Stasiak.
i forgot how bad the alliance angle become. wcw being dropped as a separate brand staying only an angle had to be the moment stephanie sang the song in the ring if not sooner. who thought this was a good idea? it's apparent what happened. don't try and make it look like an invasion putting over the "enemy" we have to continue pushing our stars mentality. the wwf talent didn't want to lose their spots plain and simple and wwe corporate didn't see the big picture of wcw STILL BEING AROUND TODAY.
4 or 5 years ago when Bruce had made the comments about DDP and Taz, Conrad would've traded bars back and forth with Bruce. I think it's time to retire STW
Bruce you guys booked the wcw guys like crap, thats why they didnt get over. DDP was a bust cuz you made him a stalker/jobber. Booker got over inspite of being booked like a joke for years with you guys. No wonder Sting never came over. The rest of the wcw guys who came in later were fed to HHh but by then the damage was done. That big audience was gone.
