This atmospheric, haunting feature debut by German director Sophia Bosch was also featured at the Big Screen Competition, International Film Festival in Rotterdam, 2024. Set in the post-apocalyptic world, Skalde lives in a small rural community amongst towering trees and wild animals, far from a human world that may no longer exist. Despite having been born to an ‘outsider’ mother, her loyalty earns her the respect of the village elder. However, this sense of belonging proves a facade when Skalde encounters a mysterious girl in the local woods whom she befriends and invites home.
Risking everything, she attempts to hide the girl to maintain her standing with the villagers, but her plans threaten to unravel.
