This really is a cracking walk. It has a bit of everything!
We started off in Millers Dale and walked along the River Wye into Chee Dale. We then followed the signs up to Wormhill, through a glorious hillside meadow - there were so many amazing wildflowers and butterflies! With the birds singing in the background it was tranquil! It was a steady incline, but nothing too strenuous. :)
After getting up onto the main road we headed up into the beautiful, quaint village of Wormhill. The limestone houses and walls are a real picture!
Carrying on through Wormhill there is a Telephone Box on the left of the road, right opposite is a farm lane which leads to the Bridleway down into the start of Monks Dale.
I'm not going to lie, Monks Dale was pretty challenging to walk through. It had rained the day before our walk, and the limestone rocks along the path made it slippy and fairly treacherous. It was beautiful and completely wild, but it wasn't easy to walk through! It did get easier after a mile or so, breaking off onto a field path.
After carrying on along through the dale, with the glorious rolling hills all around, there is a wooden bridge to cross over the small brook. It's then up the bank side, then you'll come to the Millers Dale to Wormhill road. Follow the road down back to the car, or have a little refuelling stop at Millers Dale station!
This had jumped right into my Top 5 walks! I'll leave the route in a link below. :)
