It's one thing to be arguably the most beautiful man in recorded history, but he was good inside, too. Sensitive, vulnerable, honest. The lying and chaos destroyed him. 3:14 Yikes, they must have died inside 😬. The reporter explicitly addresses this and Rob & Fab had to pretend that Milli Vanilli was a credible musical act. Ironically, Rob talks about Boney M. being a conceptual group, while Milli Vanilli was even more calculated in retrospect. Not only did they not write a single word of their songs themselves, but they never got anywhere near a microphone in the recording studio. What I've always wondered is that apparently some press people already guessed that they weren't singing themselves, but never once asked them for an acapella piece. Even the cheapest boy band after that had to prove that at least once 😛.
Of course lots of people knew that they did not sing any note, but that time they were huge, that means no one actually did care. Number One Records sales, the money, merchandising, as long the cash flows as long no one care. Everybody had fun, the record company, both of them, the fans, people all around the world. They were really hyped at that time. Both accepted Farian´s Style, both signed the contract, both knew what they do, from the first single on. Its pathetic when Fab tells after all how bad it was for them. Really ? why didn't you stop? The one who killed Milli Vanille was Rob´s ego. Rob killed Milli Vanilli and than himself. Franks idea of making it was certainly not the nicest way, but he was the only one who would keep them alive as long as it gets. But Rob wanted more, and his ego & greed killed both. This pop music, Frank knew how it works, and it did. Sometimes you have to compromise and sacrifice for a such huge success. But Rob wanted more AND fabrice was his follower.
