Being an older person and having safety instilled in me at an early age by the US Navy, I see so many RU-vidrs without safety glasses and proper footware around machinery. So far you guys have been injury free which I hope continues. Enjoy your videos.

Safety comes first and I shudder when I see people doing construction work with power tools and no PPE. You’re very lucky to have no injuries in 5 years, but please use safety goggles. Also sandals, crocks and flip flops are anything but safe. Enjoy your channel and look forward to more of a great team build their dream home

I'm so very impressed with your videos!! Each one reminds me of my early life working with my father, who was a Jippo logger on the Oregon Coast. We had a full scale saw mill and with it, we built our on house, Chicken Coup, Goat Shed, Work Shop, etc. . . My father was a garden fanatic, so we had a 1/4 acre garden each year. Dad, made it open to our neighbors so they could come and pick vegetables also. I'm 77 now, lost my soul-mate to cancer 2 yrs ago, so your quest is such a breath of fresh air. Be safe, and never give up!!!

5:23 if greg sees this, you can add an "electric start" for her by getting this adapter for your drill search it up W38137 3/8-Inch Drive Ratcheting Adapter edit: this will allow her to spin the engine with the drill without taking her arm off once the engine gets going
@rookm13
@rookm13 Месяц назад
im assuming the reason greg doesnt break it is that he can pull the cord fully in one motion, which keeps the teeth engaged. katie pulls the cord per engine stroke, which might be putting unnecessary stress on the teeth when it spins back a bit, similar to kickback. all that to say lacks strength..

You have some disadvantages to starting the saw. Height, left handed, guide bar interference vs Greg. Build a standing box about the height of the side rail 10 to 16 in. Easier pull cord angle above the T bar guide rail. If the T bar could pivot or lower, even easier. Make the handle in two pieces with pin slotted holes for height adjustment. On those hot days, time for Greg to build a container box inground poo. Or an in-ground waterfall pond.

You can actually just insulate around the batteries with polyiso sheets and put in a small thermostatically controlled 750 watt heater in the space. I have a battery rack that I raised up high enough off the floor with blocks to be able to sit the heater underneath the batteries, then wrapped the rack to the floor (and even over the floor itself). It saved me a LOT of money insulating the whole shed. Everything else in the solar setup runs more efficiently the colder it is, so just warming the batteries themselves is all you need to do.

Hi Katie and Greg, great to see you again. Katie, I always enjoy the random shots of flora and animals you include in the openings along with nice music selections. Steven is getting growing like a weed. I laughed seeing his swagger as he was strutting his stuff as he sauntered around in that one shot. He is so darned cute. Your goats are my favorites on the homestead, beside the dogs. With all the power equipment you are continually using, it would be wise to have a supply of the common repair kits and items that will be needed at some point. It would sure save time and frustration. The framing went quickly and you'll have it finished in no time. Thanks for letting me hang out with you guys today and I look forward to the next update. Have a great week. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
