Since the crash, I've been in the red. I’m playing the long term game, so I'm not too worried but Jim Cramer mentioned there are still a lot of great opportunities, though stocks has been down a lot. I also heard news of a guy that made $250k from about $110k since the crash and I would really look to know how to go about this.

I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

@@randomandy2023I'm guilty of going out to lunch when I was eliminating debt too - but that was for the mental boost. But I wasn't doing it all the time. Like, I've had people look at me with surprise when they find out I cook regularly. I said, "yeah, every day." They're shocked. Especially single people like me.

For years my husband drove my crappy needs a paint job 5 speed Toyota. All the guys at work drive giant dually trucks. He heard from one of the guys who was friends with the owner of the company that the owner said "that guy is SMART." My husband is a mechanical engineer with a masters degree. When he told me that I said "it's not your work smarts. It's because you drive a crappy car and your wife homeschools your kids."

I make six figures and drive an 8yo paid for SUV, I’ve had comments from coworkers that I should be driving a nicer car. So I laughed and laughed all the way to the bank!

@@williamclark1244 I think people that use doggy daycare and dog walkers is because both people are working so the dog would otherwise be stuck in the house all day…I don’t think he pays for that because he’s lazy, more of a necessity for the dog.

@@The_1995_there’s nothing hypocritical about this. You have to cut back on costs until you get out of debt and increase your income. Once you’re debt free, have a fully funded emergency fund and make decent money, then you can eat out and spend more. While you’re drowning in debt and you’re still paying rent, you shouldn’t be splurging. It’s not that complicated. You know what they keep saying: live like no one else so later you can live like no one else.

Yes, she was clearly from Ontario. If she is living anywhere near Toronto, that amount of spending doesn't surprise me. Toronto is like Canadian LA in terms of how ridiculously expensive everything is.

George is debt free and his NW is over a mil. The percentage of his worth far exceeds pampered pets. Big difference than if one owed 200K in loans and CC and was blowing 50 bucks a week on dogs. Its kind of the burn pile theory. If you can go buy a classic car/boat/rv/ect , you can get it if you could pile that in cash in your driveway and burn it and your life wouldnt be affected.

He kinda explains it in the video, I think. It's a lot easier to spend on those kinds of things when you're debt free and doing well.

I loved Mint! Switching from Verizon saved me a TON. Also the app is super clean and user friendly. My only issue was that the towers Mint uses leave me with spotty service in my area of Nebraska so I’m actually planning on switching to Visible which uses the same towers as Verizon. @@annstaup4542 I always hesitate to say what I do, because my success is uncommon, but I am a Financial Advisor. After being an Advisor from 2001-2008, I became Dave’s ELP for finance in my area. Soon after that my business exploded. I tried to keep up with the growth, but I was drowning. At 1 point, I was working all day, coming home to eat dinner, then going back to work to do paperwork from 9pm-2am. I’d then get up around 7am and start the process all over again the next day. I only took Sundays off. It was SO hard, but I was addicted to the chase. I would bring in anywhere from $30M- $40M a year in new client dollars, so I was increasing my income by about $300k- $400k per year- year after year after year after year. It was exciting, but my health was strained, my relationships were strained- or non-existent, and I was exhausted. I didn’t do any hobbies and I didn’t really spend time with any friends. Dave helped me build an incredible business earning a few million a year, but it was consuming me. He then, through entire leadership, helped me understand how to manage it all. I was doing estate planning and trusts, taxes, investment planning, insurance, etc. I knew that I knew my craft exceptionally well, and I had people lining up who wanted to work with me and who wanted to be my client, and Dave Ramsey was sending me sometimes 3-6 referrals a day! It was crazy! I eventually hired an Operations Manager, then an Executive Assistant to answer my phone, emails, and texts, then an account manager to open all the new accounts and manage them…. I opened a couple offices in California, but then spread into Idaho, then Wyoming, then Oklahoma. I had a number of Advisors join me and I started shifting my focus to that of a trainer. Even today I had a webinar with Advisors from around the nation, teaching them about a new investment product which sounds good, but can be dangerous. I started teaching Dave’s principles to all my Junior Advisors. Its scary, but I know Dave’s advise almost perfectly before he gives it every time- except for last week when he told a woman to look into Unified Estate Tax Credits. That’s an area I wouldn’t have followed. I know perfectly after 15 years as his representative almost everything he’s going to say. I hired more staff and moved into larger and larger offices. Now, after 23 years as a Financial Advisor, I feel like I can take a break. I make 6 figures a month, and this week I only worked 2 days. Today I had a High School kid with me because I am his mentor. I sit on several local boards, and I donate a lot of money and time to my community. I’m meeting with a contractor tomorrow to discuss the build out of an ADU on our property because I feel like God has blessed us with the ability, and hence the responsibility, to care for our family. My parents are getting older, as are my wife’s, and I want to be prepared to care for them. When I say it’s uncommon, I mean that most Financial Advisors don’t earn what I earn, and I have Dave to thank for that. I still manage 4 territories for Dave, and I give those leads to my junior Advisors, who also run FPU and follow Dave’s principles in practice and word.

Fantastic! Question -- don't you have gas, utilities, car insurance, groceries health insurance costs? That is what is kicking us ... our health insurance premium has been almost $1800 a month after taxes for a year!! Fortunately, this is changing on Monday. We never eat out or do anything frivolous. I am so looking forward to making headway soon.

I spend $93/week on utilities alone, no food included. You must live in a tent, trap for food, don't drive at all, and bathe in streams. My target is $200/week and I'm frugal but don't make my target some weeks.
