Ah very interesting! Is it legal to feed chickens on insects that have eaten food waste? Thinking of foot and mouth disease here!

It is legal if the insects are fed plant based waste, it's only illegal if they are reared on animal waste (feeding animals to animals) or stuff like sewage. These larvae are reared on 'reject chicken feed' which is basically wheat that would otherwise end up in landfill.
