You sir, are the best juggler I've ever seen! Keep it up bro :D A true inspiration to watch so many variations at once, especially when I just learned the basic one :) We're all one

@MadJugglerTV I spent a couple hours brainstorming, then a couple hours filming, and waaaay too many hours editing. I have to thank you for the inspiration. If you didn't set the challenge to do as many mills tricks as possible I would not have made this video.

I am just sitting here with my hand over my mouth speechless... BOOOOOOOM! unbelievable. how can your mind hold so many patterns! You are the Encyclopedia of ball juggling! and this is just Mills! One of my most favorite Juggling videos. Ever. Now you are doing 4! I forgot there was more than 3ball! Super freak! You are a way better ball juggler than Jason Garfield. You son of a 5 ball mills! Unbelievable.

And the juggling video of the year goes to... I'm a Mess-addicted juggler and you've got the good stuff I need. There are plenty in there I wouldn't have thought of, and I'm sure they'll just provide starting points for my own exploration. Some of these are debatable as Mills Mess Variations - for instance, I personally believe that Boston Mess is unrelated to Mills Mess. Seriously though, this is immense. On behalf of the entire juggling community (whom I represent), thank you.

steve, i really appreciate the work that must have gone into making the video, and i'm sure there must have been a lot of work. you've done a great act for the juggling community as a whole. beyond just the video showing the skills, the cataloging and tutorial linking goes above and beyond what anyone could reasonably ask. thanks for posting this. -alex "sandypants" trendler

@MescalineBanana I guess I caused some confusion with the title "mills mess variations". I realize a lot of these are simply "mess" style patterns that don't have much to do with the authentic mills mess, as pointed out in some of the other comments. I'm glad you liked the video!

It's a 42333 mess variation. When the arms are crossed and you're doing the under-the-wrist throw/exchange, you sorta just do an extra exchange (42) with your arms still crossed then go back to mills (333). I hope that helps!

@johnnations Thanks, John! I spent about 2 hours brainstorming and compiling a list of tricks before filming. Took me about 2 hours to film all this stuff, some of which I have fairly solid so it didn't take too many tries. Believe it or not, editing the video was actually the most time consuming part!

Very fun to watch sir. May I just ask you two questions? One, how long have you been juggling for now and two, from what sources did you learn to do these tricks because as vast as youtube is it can be difficult to find very specific and rare tricks.
@thegoheads
@thegoheads 14 лет назад
@meshunderlay I agree, some of these variations are very slight variations to the previous trick. Example, mills mess VS clawed mills mess. Takeouts VS clawed takeouts. They are essentially the same pattern with different catch technique. But, I feel they are different enough to count as seperate tricks, even though the difference is not massive.
@thegoheads
@thegoheads 14 лет назад
@MassacreOlsztyn They were floating around in my memory banks, I wrote them all down before I filmed the video though. I do have a very long list of 3ball tricks somewhere, but it's very disorganized. My siteswap lists, however, are very organized!
@mk59apr
@mk59apr 13 лет назад

@AmeronRosvall
@AmeronRosvall 14 лет назад
@thegoheads Yeah standard hand movement during period 2,4 and 5 siteswaps makes it difficult/awkward, especially if it has 1 in it somewhere. during 75314 you have to do 30 throws before the pattern repeats on the same side. I've done the 3 different 7531 on both sides, and 74414 properly for atleast 15 catches a few years back :P I'm looking forward to you learning it! And great job with the video.
@thegoheads
@thegoheads 14 лет назад
@TABjuggler I start with 3 in each hand and throw a (6x,4) set of throws. Then you have a stack of 2 balls approaching a hand holding 2 balls and you can go right into [33] from there.

@Nlfreaks learn to do the windmill (aka side circles) but the hand that reaches under to catch under the arm, well make it pass over and catch over the arm (VERY MINDMELTING AT START ^^). Get that on both sides, and then to do the mills mess version just do one side circle with above catch one way, then switch ways with an above catch again but the circle is the other way, like mills mess but with above catches. Mind. Melting. but fun as hell and neat to watch =)
@kennyjuggling
@kennyjuggling 14 лет назад
WOW !! that's a lott of variations :D
@thegoheads
@thegoheads 13 лет назад
@craig6244 There has been some confusion about this. These are "mess" variations, only suggesting that the common theme is tricks that involve some type of crossing of the arms. Technically speaking, any variation of mills mess would not be mills mess at all, but rather a different trick with only some type of similarities to mills mess (i.e. crossing of the arms) .... yet still, it's not too much of a stretch to refer to these types of patterns as "mills mess" variations.

@thegoheads
@thegoheads 14 лет назад
@TABjuggler I actually never tried [33] mess before I made this video. Only took me a few minutes of practice to get a decent run. If you have several mess patterns solid, and your multiplexing skills are adequate, the [33] mess is not incredibly difficult to learn. Not easy, but not incredibly difficult either.
@thegoheads
@thegoheads 14 лет назад
@nomorepoetsplease Wow, thanks! I actually learned a lot of the tricks in this video from the tutorials that are linked to in the info box, so I suppose I'm just returning the favor by compiling them all together... These videos are a lot of work, but I enjoy it and I'm glad people find it helpful!

I enjoyed the video immensely, and it's only due to my sometimes-type-a-ways that I'll say this.... Some of the variations were only variations in the way that a Half Shower is a variation on a Cascade. Of course, maybe I'm just tired, or jealous, or both, who knows?

@RicotheJuggler haha, I do hope I win but the length of the video doesn't improve my chances. It's a random drawing of everyone who enters. I decided to go overboard with the content, because, well, that's kinda my thing, hehe.

@lessthanrich haha, oops my first comment seemed a bit arrogant. I guess I unfairly assumed you were disrespecting jazz music, sorry about that! :)
@thegoheads
@thegoheads 13 лет назад
@lessthanrich It's called jazz music, and lots of people really like it. Jazz music has been around much longer than the popular garbage of today which is often mistakenly referred to as "good music" ... I also like to use all instrumental tracks for my juggling videos sometimes. I think instrumental music fits better, because songs with lyrics usually are about girl problems and have nothing to do with juggling... I hope that clears things up for you :)
@thegoheads
@thegoheads 14 лет назад
@JointDemise No. Before I made this video I had only done 1 round of 7531 during 4b mills.. I managed two quick rounds of 75314 mills in the video, i think... 7531 mills with the standard 3beat hand movement looks very difficult in the animator. I will probably tackle it someday. You?

@thegoheads I'm with you, I also do not like "popular music" and I am well aware what jazz is.. But I was talking about the time signature... The music isn't on a 4:4 rhythm so the tricks don't fit with tune. That is all, kthxbai x
