Wednesday fan hear I traveled all the way to Millwall my first time to Millwall for that fact but I got to say I thought that Millwall was better then us for the 1st 25 minutes I thought it all changed once we scored a goal then when we scored the second goal that was game done for me you really didn’t look like scoring But I thought both teams were nervous but soon as we scored we played ok But I really hope Millwall can sort it out because I have massive respect for Millwall probably my favourite London club Good luck for the rest of the season

This whole time I've had in the back of my head the comment you made before Edwards was hired when you were concerned about them going one extreme to the other after rowett. These players can't switch to this type of football this quickly. Hell I don't think Cooper can play it at all. Edwards needed to be a summer hire not a mid season.

Edwards have inherated a very defensive minded team and therefore it is most likely too difficult implementing what he wants. The only positive I can see for now is that we have Aidomo, Brooke and hopefully Obafemi back. Players who can drive the ball because you're right none of the others can beat a man and that is why we creating so little. That was the same under Rowett. For the past many years we have been one of the lowest scoring teams from open play.

Spot on mate. As an ex defender, if from now, until the end of the season, they go out with the mindset that you go out with a point so finish with at least a point that should keep us up. Put the opposition under pressure for as long as possible and try and pinch a goal on the break.

All that you have said has merit and it does seem that there may be some deep seated problems for all the reasons you have outlined. Everyone has an opinion but at the end of the day we are all trying to second guess what we think has or is going wrong at the club. What we don't know and are not privy to is exactly what the club has as a strategy going forward (assuming there is one!). They have said with the appointment of Joe Edwards they want to go in a different direction but what does this actually mean. It could be they have factored in the possibility of relegation including the financial implications as you outlined and in Joe Edwards they see him as part of a longer term plan in which case they are not about to sack him. Furthermore, this may well include the recognition that a number of the ageing players will soon be out of contract and perhaps the intention will be to replace them with younger and more athletic dynamic players along the lines of Adam Mayor. Getting someone else in to replace Joe Edwards doesn't necessarily mean we will avoid relegation. The so called new manager bounce doesn't always work and we could still end up getting relegated anyway even with a short term replacement and if it is then a different new manager next season there is no guarantee that he will be successful either. I would add that we are also not privy to what goes on at the training ground. We should not discount the possibility that what Joe Edwards has been trying to do is being carried out OK there but for whatever reason a number of the players cannot seem to transfer this to match day games. Going by some of his comments in a number of his post match interviews he has indirectly alluded to this on more than one occasion.

Didn't listen to the post match interview, but JE did say that he had watched Millwall prior to accepting the position, so he must have known about the lack of quality through out the team, so God knows how he was going to turn a pigs ear into a team that win the odd game here and there with his playing style (which is what I want to see instead GR's borefest)that need just to keep them in this division...

Agree with most of that. A midfield three of De Norre and one other with Flemming at 10 is the start. Play a back 4 cos it is so obvious all our CB's (especially Cooper) feel more comfortable there. Hopefully a few return from injuries to help us in the run in. I think your manager shouts were all solid, My top 3 would be : Duff, Neil and Pearson. Please not Allardyce I think people romanticise what he was but he has lost it, and creates more problems than he solves at most clubs on these short term deals

Thought Danny Mack had a good game, pretty sure it was him not Longman that put in a really inviting cross but no one there. Supporters have got to stop this toxic booing. Doesn't matter what people think about the dire situation it doesn't help anyone on the pitch. Wednesdayite here, excellent review. I can't believe the change in Millwall from then you put 4 past us at Hillsborough, you look a completely different side. It was nice to see us winning at the New Den, we don't usually do well on your patch. I think the manager you have now could well take you down, hopefully you don't sack him too soon, because with a new manager you will pull clear. I still think we have left it too late, but if we win our next 2 against Bristol at Home and Rotherham away, then you never know. All the best, up the Owls, F the Blunts.

A great review Chris. I also think these players didn’t comeback pre season fit. Was that to do with JB I don’t know. The knock on effect has been injuries and I feel for Edwards as that has happened on his shift. The root to the problems is so many players know they won’t be here next season and you could argue they don’t care regardless of who’s manager. The board have to take responsibility here and probably thought we would be safe to do a mass clear out in the summer.

My thought. Tap up Kenny Jackett to get us out the mire. With the thought about making him director of football next season, then look for another manager. Also, change the backroom staff. Personally I'd like Edwards as manager, but, as someone said the right appointment at the wrong time. Whatever happens I believe we will stay up.

I'd play a diamond 442. Put Flemming and Obafemi up front with Esse behind them. Play Mayor and Cuffy on the wings, with De norre being the defensive central midfielder/playmaker. Tanganga and Leonard as centre backs with Wallace as LB (until Bryan gets back) and Danny Mc as RB. Sarkic in goal. Murray Wallace trying to run down the left flank on his jack Jones was embarrassing to watch. Flemming shouldn't have to keep drifting out to the left to support the play in that area - Mayor would fill that space and actually be really effective there too I reckon. Anyway, what do I know about setting up tactics?

I don't think we should sack Joe Edwards until we have someone else lined up. I think it will be a real struggle to find someone with a decent CV who will takeover. Big Sam has to big of an ego to come to Millwall. I actually think Edwards is a decent appointment I think it has a lot more to do with timing, he should've either joined over the summer to influence transfers more or joined end of this season

I’d try to bring in Duff. He’s out of a job right now. It didn’t work out at Swansea, but that’s because his direct style didn’t mesh with their “Swansalona” culture. He’s also known for how well he sets his sides up defensively (which we need right now), and for the endeavour and pressing of his sides. We don’t have the target man he likes, but I still think he’d be a great appointment.

Most things about the board with lack of forward planning and being so inept have already been said. Job looks too big for Edwards first one,that's on the board for chosing him. We need to have changes from the top to the bottom of the club . It seems young JB has no idea of how to run a successful business, running a professional football club is no different to run in a large scale business and in business if you’re not getting the result you make changes so why are we not doing that something is wrong at Millwall or our chairman is afraid to sack people. We need a new general manager, recruitment person, back room team, medical team, and the one thing we definitely need is a fit coach plus some players can play football

You recently looked at who is to blame. Is it the board manager or players. However you forgot the fans who are so quick to turn. What they did to harris was a disgrace and then hounded out rowett. Now it is edwards getting it. What ever happened to getting behind the team for better or worse..Surely that is what being a fan is all about. The four points difference in achievement you identify doesn't seem a lot - but it is the difference between being 21st needing seventeen points from thirteen games for safety and being 17th needing a more achievable thirteen. Edwards seems a nice, inoffensive man and is probably technically capable, but he is more wimp than warrior and certainly no leader: I do not doubt he will do well somewhere but not here and now. Those saying we must go down to rebuild and come back up are fantasists, it will be a disaster as detailed in your summary. The idea of bringing back Kenny Jacket in some capacity seems a good one.
