This is true, you can find PPU cheaper but I’m not sure their goal is to undercut prvi. Because it’s a new and smaller company they have to realistically price it out so they’re not running at a loss. I’m more than happy to buy a few boxes to help a new manufacturer enter the marketplace, especially if they’re planning on introducing .268 diameter bullets and 6.5 Vetterli loads. Hopefully in the future, they can economize and get the price down.

I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt since it’s their very first batch and I know they’re super concerned about QC. I’ll be happy if they put out .268 diameter 6.5 and Vetterli loads.

What’s the industry barrier to introducing round nose bullets in either weight? Why does everyone lean towards spitzer bullets?

@@GarandGuy2553 I have to believe it's a mix of not understanding the round and being able to use existing equipment with slight modifications

@@dutchcountryoutdoors You would expect larger manufacturers, like PPU or Steinel, to make this ammunition properly. They must have the internal knowledge and read all the online comments. They atleast make the correct reloading components.

@@GarandGuy2553 I dont get it either. Hornady made the right bullets going back decades. Sadly their .267 160 grain round nose is discontinued, but the .264 works in my rifle at least. It looks like Steinel is sort of on the right track with their round nose offering, but its still light, which probably means too short.

Agree ! If you research "carcano 200 meter test" a site comes up where they used a Mod.91 Long Rifle; and had great success with a Hornady 160gr .264" RN bullet, & a .263" (!) 158gr FMJ ! The key to Accuracy is to seat the bullet out farther than usual, and keep the Velocity to apx 2200 fps NOT 2400 fps ! The .263" works because the open Base allows it to swell into the Rifling. And with the lower Velocity, it also doesn't get "stripped" through the Rifling.

Are they the imported batch from Italy or something else? All the randomly picked Carcanos from a few retailers here that came from the big Italy shipment were all in fantastic shape.

@@GarandGuy2553 As far as I know they are from Italy. I got one place that's selling two M91s for $400 in Fair/Poor condition and the pictures look like something RTI would sell -- those may be non-Italian rifles, while the place I was thinking of buying from outright state the rifles are from Italy and selling a Fair condition for $400. I can't bring myself to spend $400 on two garbage rods or one possibly not a complete piece of garbage rod, ha ha. I'm kicking myself for not buying an M91 I saw a few years back at an LGS. It was in good condition.

@@TheRedneckPreppy I wouldn’t buy a pair in fair/poor. They’ll likely be in crap condition. You might be alright on the fair condition one. Man, they’re so cheap down here right now. I could buy 3 of them in good condition for 400.
