Ye bro the high lift of the zippers cam puts extra strain on the rocker arms and valves so they get louder. Perfectly normal

I just had this conversation with the mechanic I go to. So I have S&S components and Fuel Motor adjustable rods. I have 10k on the cam, lifters and rods and had no issues with the set up. Recently I swapped pipes to a Bassani 2 into 1. Now I have a slight tick. Most likely why from my mechanics point of view is that the fuel mixture is lean, making the engine run hotter and thinning out the oil. I hadn't tuned the bike with the new pipe but now I'm going to. Cams increase the stress in the system and if your bike is running a little hot from most likely the screaming eagle tune for their cam, then you'll notice more valve noise no matter what oil you run.

@@MeathedMoto Thanks for your reply. I think your on to something relative to a lean condition. Since I wrote this query I went to S&S Roller Rockers, Cat Delete, and had Bryan @ Vance & Hines fatten my fp3 tuner. All good now.

468 is the business! I had the RS572 i believe or the HP cam and switched to the 468. You are going to notice a huge power gain on all fronts compared to SnS! Download the base map from the PV then send the map to fuel moto to tweak perfectly. They will send you a custom tune and you flash it will work wonders. Can’t wait until you feel the RS468!!

I’m not sure on exact numbers but DEFINITELY more. Harley cams have to be legally sold for street and highway use so they aren’t as aggressive. I hope you drop the Zip in that big ass motor. You’ll be very pleased i can guarantee you that

Redline over Syn 3 all day. If you ride the dog piss out of your motorcycle, definitely invest in good oil. I love in Florida where it’s hot as hell plus romping on the motor I’m running 80 weight in my primary and trans.

I would start by taking you air cleaner off and when you look inside on top there is a little valve called the Idle Air Controller (IAC) you can spray carb cleaner in their to clean it out or replace it. 9 times out of 10 that’s what it is. The symptoms sound exact.

I tried all that you said and I’m still having the same issue. I’m going to bring it to Harley south to get it diagnosed. I’m not getting any codes or check engine light so I’m hoping its something simple. I appreciate the help and knowledge

I have same issue you described on your bike. I have 2021 RGS with 22,000 miles. I used Amsoil Full Syn 20-50 and Amsoil filter for two oil changes and dealer mechanic with 32 years of experience told me to switch back to HD Syn3 and HD filter. So I did and the ticking at cold start is not as bad as before and goes away after a couple seconds. The bike still has a rattle around 2200 rpm so I have been trying to keep rpm’s above 2500. I’m saving up money for a rebuild at 50,000 miles or engine breakdown, whichever comes first. Thanks for sharing.

@@trex860 ive put alot more miles on my bike since i posted this, im at 37k now and ended up tearing into it and doing my full s&s cam upgrade and havent had a single problem since. Been running amsoil since 15k miles and havent had an issue with that but the noise i was hearing ended up being loose header nuts on the front header pipe along with pre detonation pinging in the front cylinder from not downshifting to go up bigger grades than what i thought it could do. She runs like a champ now
