Milwaukee Cut-off tool vs DeWALT cut-off tool. I prefer the DeWALT for a variety of reasons, however, the Milwaukee having a universal dust port makes up for all its shortcomings. While it's difficult for me to find DeWALT's AirLock system online anywhere, there seems to be quite a few adapters for it for an average of $15 or less.

In this video, we take a look at two popular cut-off saws: the DeWalt 20V and the Milwaukee 12V. The DeWalt 20V cut-off saw is a powerful and versatile tool that is perfect for cutting through a variety of materials, including metal, wood, and plastic. It features a powerful 20V battery that provides long run time and quick charging. The saw also has a comfortable grip and easy-to-use controls, making it easy to operate for extended periods of time.
The Milwaukee 12V cut-off saw is a more compact and lightweight option, making it ideal for use in tight spaces or for on-the-go projects. It also features a powerful 12V battery and easy-to-use controls, but with a smaller capacity and less power than the DeWalt 20V.
Both tools are durable, high-quality options that are well-suited for a variety of cutting tasks. Ultimately, the choice between the two will depend on your specific needs and preferences.

I have both and like both. The m12 i use for smaller jobs. Stays in my m12 bag which is for small jobs. I added the hex to it with one of those sticky bit holders on top. The dewalt i use for larger jobs like cutting tile, etc...

Thanks for your completely unbiased review. After really using my M12 recently, the only 2 things I can fault are the lack of onboard key storage and the location of the vac hose. Though it's not really supposed to be used as a circular saw, you cant really see the guide marker on the plate. I'll think of a way to rip off that vacuum attachment. I agree, the Dewalt is a superior cut off tool in design, power, and function. But by the time you're adding a compact cut off tool to your collection, you've already committed yourself to the brands battery platform.

Ha, nice! If it weren't for the proprietary dust collection of the DeWALT, I'd say that's all you need, but it's that tid-bit that makes it a toss up. I too have both!

Besides TTC, "Tools tested" channel did a nice performance comparison of these plus Ridgid and Ryobi models. Milwaukee should update to catch up to the competition- or make an m18 version.

That dewalt is the one tool that kinda made me wish I had stayed in the dewalt line, lol. I jumped in and right back out after problems with a 17 tool haul about a year ago. The 12v line I kept, but this came out right after I jumped out. I can’t bring myself to jump back in for one tool, lol. I’m surprised Milwaukee never made an 18v version 🤔
@ToolDeals
@ToolDeals Год назад
LOL. Definitely not worth the jump back in. I only got it because I still had batteries. But I now only own 3 DeWALT cordless tools. The Auger (Got 75% off on a glitch); the One handed circular saw (Sweet little tool)l and now this. Oh... and a lawnmower that's only good for the 10AH batteries it came with. Throw the whole mower away... smh.

Food for thought: Milwaukee released their version approx 4 years prior to DeWalt. So my guess is that some of the design features/flaws were incorporated when DeWalt released theirs.

Absolutely as long as you're not using it for grinding type of jobs and just cutting.

Changing the blade on the m12 you just snap whole guard off. So i would knock too much off for that. And the size of m12 handle doesn’t bother me but ill agree the dewalt is a better tool. Something you didn’t point out is the dewalt has a deeper cutting depth. Which I’ve wished i had a few times on the m12.
@ToolDeals

The grip size of the Milwaukee is fine, and I don't have big hands. The Milwaukee's motor is weak though. The thing I don't like about the Dewalt is the battery hanging off the end of the handle even when using a smaller battery. Milwaukee does need to update the M12 cutoff tool ASAP.

Very nice comparison. I'm an angle-grinder owner. What can I cut off with these? Are they primarily for small demo work? Can grinding or polishing or wire brushes be fitted? What about dinky saw blades? Sorry for asking what the heck these are used for. I keep imagining pipes and such, but would want them at right angles, not a handheld operation.
@Lee-lb9qh
@Lee-lb9qh Год назад
I use it at work for cutting 3/8 hydraulic hoses it's the best tool for this, can literally hang it off your belt, rebar workers would like it too for fast cuts but you can use it for whatever you need it for! Use your imagination now go cut something
@ToolDeals
@ToolDeals Год назад
At the moment you can't fit wire brushes or any grinding or polishing discs. So a grinder would be your best bet there. The main reason I bought mine was 1. To cut plaster (depth gauge and dust collector makes this PERFECT for it) 2. To cut the padlocks off the foreclosure garage doors I've bought.

Love how all these comparisons for the m12 cut off tool have to put it up against 18-20v tools …. Maybe the other manufacturers don’t make a 12v version I just think it’s pretty obvious 12v tools are generally viewed as less powerful than their 18v beefier counterparts , all that said, m12 still hangs with the 18v competition….. it’s still like comparing a 4cyl sedan to a 6 cyl coupe

@ToolDeals
@ToolDeals Год назад
I considered that one! I'm going to check the stats on that Ryobi first; but if you've been around, you know I'm not a fan of Ryobi power tools. They generally don't last as long if you push them moderately hard. If it's for casual use though it should be fine.
@carpe164
@carpe164 Год назад
@@ToolDeals agreed-I’m very selective when it comes to Ryobi tools. I mainly stick to their lights, fans, and my fav of their line is the high pressure inflator which I use to clean my tools and work bench. I do own the Ryobi cutoff tool-I don’t use it often but it’s worked well for me when I need it.

Which one is better Angle Grinder or Cut off tool?
@ToolDeals
@ToolDeals Год назад
Depends on what you're using it for. An angle grinder will do what a cut off tool can do and a lot more. It can cut as well as grind. They also come in different sizes to get bigger jobs done faster. A cut off tool is just that. It cuts things like padlocks. Another thing it can do is cut plaster! Which is what I bought mine for. So while they seem to be the same tool, one would be better for certain situations.

I have the M12 and I like it, however it is under powered. I am sure the 20vlt dewalt is more powerful. I got my M12 on Black Friday and it was a good deal, but I only use it to cut light steel such as 1/4 or 3/8steel shapes. I can’t imagine the M12 would cut tile if they even offer a masonry blade.

Yeah the M12 fuel cutoff isn't very well built. I get that it's only a 12V tool, but the motor is just too weak, if they can make an m12 circular saw they can make a powerful cutoff too. I've also experienced that weird noise on the cutoff, it comes from the cutoff disk not being properly balanced. Usually balancing it on the arbor or switching out for a new blade fixes the issue.

@ccbowers
@ccbowers Год назад
Apologists try to rationalize that the bulbous m12 grip is actually good, but even Milwaukee knows it isn't and that's why the m18 has a completely different grip design. It is an unfortunate compromise made due the their insert battery design. I'm sure for people with bigger hands, it isn't as bad as people with smaller hands but it still is bad. And I'm sure some people get used to it. But finding yourself liking that bulbous grip is like getting used to a bad situation- it doesn't make it right
@ToolDeals
@ToolDeals Год назад
Agreed! And I too thought for a while that it was because of the battery.... Then I held a Bosch 12V tool in my hand... night and day and EXACT same battery design. Milwaukee is just doing this stuff on purpose for no good reason. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@ccbowers
@ccbowers Год назад
@@ToolDeals I have Bosch 12V also, and I thought the Milwaukee was bigger, but I just checked and the batteries I have are like 1mm difference- so you are right. The main difference is the Bosch isn't bulbous and I think that makes a significant difference
