I have fixed this problem in the past with a strong magnet.

You drill like an 1/8", then increasingly larger diameter bit, until a 7/32, or the closest you can get to RIGHT before a 1/4", you drill the bit out, with as much precision as job site conditions will allow you. Use some needle nose or linemans'. And it'll come out. Takes a couple minutes. Did it today with the m18 Fuel impact and the m12 Fuel Hammer Drill on.....my dogs life. ⚡🤙

@@rizzasteicke5190 Yea, don't do the superglue. Too likely to make things worse.

Or just use super glue! I appreciate the video but I was able to get mine by putting a small drop of superglue on both side waiting 15 minutes for them to dry, pressing together and pulling the broken part out. Worth a try!

You can replace that anvils head easily anyway. I would like to try one of those wrench style with 1/4 inch socket, give it more use.

The bits won't come out unless you pull the collet upwards from its sitted position.

watched a few of these after i fixed one of my buddy's i actually took the head all the way off and took out the bit holder part of it and hammered the side of the top and it slowly worked itself out enough to were i can pry up and pull it out with some pliers but anyways just wanted to complement you on how u did that with a magnet you should see some of the other videos on here for stuck broken bit absolutely horrible but this one was great

Why not take the collet apart, snap ring, spring, and detent ball. Then push it out with a pick. Or was it not possible with the broken bit?
@BuildsStuff
@BuildsStuff 4 года назад
That was what I intended to try first. Have you ever tried to do it? I could barely see the clip to remove it. I figured if I managed to pull that apart I would possibly never get it back together, or would bugger the retention clip. So I tried everything to avoid having to pull that chuck apart.

@@BuildsStuff Turns out your concern was unfounded. Not hard. Putting the split ring back in was a matter of holding down one side where it's split with thumb then pushing down around the ring with a jeweler's screwdriver to snap into place. Easier that I thought it would be as well. Just be prepared for it to fly off once or twice and have a clean floor space around you.

Pull back collet,remove c clip, washer and spring. Think that's supposed to work. 🤔

If I had a patreon I could have got all the input from everybody first and we could have gone through it one by one... I am thinking about Patreon, but need to do a bit more research. I already have a Patreon for my other YT channel, but it doesn't do very well. So many people said they would do it, until I actually launched it, then they all went quiet. Hopefully one day we will get something up and running.

Use a very narrow flat screwdriver (jewellers driver) to pry the c-clip out. Replacing it is trickier without a special tool from the manufacturer, but not too impossible. Replacing a ball spring takes less than a minute with practice and the special tool.
@AceSolomon94
@AceSolomon94 3 года назад
I would've tried using a small vice grip & pull up simultaneously with one hand as I use the other arm to secure the tool down while using the other hand to lift the collet up.

This is exactly how I would have approached it. Luckily I watched a video where they show to remove the split ring that holds the collar on. Use two picks or a pin and a small screwdriver. Out comes the retaining ring, then a waster then the collet. Be careful at this point there will be two ball bearings that the collet was holding in. These retain the driver. Remove the balls with a magnet before they fall out and then shove a wire inside the holes where they went to push up the bit from it's base. Much easier than all this. But, again, left to my own devices, I would have done the same. "HOW TO Remove Broken Impact Driver Bits - Don't Get Mad! "

did U see that vcg construction where they repair the ball bearing of this chuck? watch?v=Oo7urn6TYYc

for the record, I tried to repair a NOS Makita Bdf444z I bought that had a jammed chuck and I did something you did. But I couldn't reassemble well the tool and in the end I sent it to the repair service. Result is I broke some internal parts in the process and it had cost me 1/3 of the tool in a new casing and another small part that broke, lol. In the end I saw a video for replacing the chuck and I din't even needed to open the drill.
