5 year warranty

This video is interesting and informative. It looks like you have found the weakest link for this model, the cooling fan. The fan should have been made out of metal just like the ones used in most power tools made for over a century. Many plastics become brittle with age and the type used in this drill is clearly inadequate for cooling the motor over the long term. This obvious blunder is 100% the fault of the manufacturer but I wonder if it was a mistake. It could be done on purpose and something like the Phoebus Cartel is operating again.

Sadly there are weak points. My question is is it designed to fail?
@davidperry4013
@davidperry4013 Год назад
In brushless tools, plastic fans are adequate since the heat builds up on the stator windings instead of the rotor. Also they run cooler too.
@SuperMurrayb
@SuperMurrayb Год назад
@@davidperry4013 This tool has four brushes and if the fan was metal it would probably still be working. The brushless tools may run cooler but their weak point is the MOSFET switches. It costs so much to fix a brushless tool out of warranty that it usually doesn't make sense to repair them. There is not much made these days are built to last for more than a few years.

too late now but it is a 5 year warranty, can i ask what you were using if for when it first let the smoke fly? ive got the similar drill and impact driver kit this year brushed and ive got them pretty hot.. usually got to wear gloves to save my hands and ive clocked the impact mechanism on the driver at 106 degress C when i was using it with impact bit to drill holes in steel.. still running good though
@Oneupthesleevecustoms
@Oneupthesleevecustoms 6 лет назад
+Andrew Browner had no invoice for it but i was drilling 100mm hole say through hard wood 6x6 beam haha they are tuff it only died cause fan blades had previously left the building. Ive screwed in 2000 roof zip 65mm screws a day with my old impact they are bullet proof i gave mine to dad when i got a fuel one
@AndrewBrowner
@AndrewBrowner 6 лет назад
yeah im happy i chose milwuakee for my first set and not makita or dewalt, happy with all my current tools, had the brushed angle grinder and that thing is worthless got the fuel 5" one now and its awesome, not quite the same as a 12 amp corded but its probably more powerful than a 7/8 amp corded, got the fuel circ saw too but havent put enough miles on it for an opinion yet

Hey mate I know your a big waulkee fan 😁 I just got one of these and an impact. Couldn't justify paying for brushed as it's just for home use. It came with 3 x 3ah batts. I should be able to revive a couple of better ones as well😉😎

@@Oneupthesleevecustoms Hey mate I can vouch for their warranty. I was using the impact driver. I put it on the ground, when I picked it up and started using it I got magic smoke and spitting plastic bits. I think it picked up a little stone and smashed the cooling fins. Anyway, they replaced it with a new one, so i was impressed. It's a bit of a design fault. They should mave mesh to prevent bits getting in.

@@Oneupthesleevecustoms yeah but the problem is it keeps cutting out. It's a full charged battery when I pull the trigger the light comes on I hear the motor try to spin. But nothing. I noticed on the trigger there is a small flex cable with a nick so I soldered it and fixed it but then i don't get nothing. With the connection broken on the flex cable there is sign of life. I will are a video
