This is probably the cleanest and most useful Packet Mod I've seen thus far, and one that I would actually consider taking the time to imitate as closely as possible. It would be awesome if there was a way to hide the extra cords behind the wooden top plate, but other than that, it's darn near perfection! thanks for taking the time to show us the details of the build brotha!
you did a great job. very well thought out. I really like the gas struts idea, I don't know any way I would personally improve it. you hit the nail on the head
Great concept put into action! I absolutely dig this! I am an electrician who does about 85% home service calls and having this setup would be great, because everything is contained into one low-space package, allowing someone to move it wherever they need it when they need to, without having loose chargers and cords hanging out for customers to trip over in their own home, or their animals to play with or chew on!! Love it!!! Definite sharing this with my friends and co-workers!! Thank you for sharing!!
That is the best charging station I have seen !!!!!! So many people leave there batteries out in the van those cold winter months. You are doing everyone that watch’s this a great service. Keep up the GREAT work !!
Awesome build planning to model this and pass on to my coworkers. Having a changer station/battery holder is vital in the rough CO winters where they destroy your tools. Keep innovating!
Awesome build. I’m loving the 3D printed handle it really looks original. The only thing I could honestly think that could be changed is maybe a black power strip. Honestly a cool idea bro.
I love this idea as I also use M12 and M18 batteries. I love the lack of clutter for chargers and batteries and conveniently located in one box. I wouldn't change anything and if don't win yours I will be building one for myself. Thanks for the idea!
That's a nice design. I like the lift assist. Makes it open easy and holds it open to give air flow for the chargers. Having the cord going through the side keeps it neat and easy access. The outlet keeps the plug from getting damaged while not being used and someplace to get extra power if you need it to say charge your phone. Nice design I wouldn't mind one. You could adapt it easily for other tool chargers too
Nice DYI walk through. I like that you explained why you did things your way, one setup isn't going to work for everyone or please everyone's aesthetic, I do like that 3d printed latch.
Yeah, this is one of those project that could be done 100 different ways. That's why I made the video, so whoever wants to can take the concept and modify to their own liking.
Looks great. Love the lifts to keep the top open that’s genius. The only thing I can think of to add would be a couple usb charging ports to the side or back so you can charge your phone etc. without having to have the lid open also a different grommet for the cord to keep it more sealed and ideally waterproof.
Nice and Clean, good work. Only thing I would add is a couple charger cords into the power strip for charging phones or Bluetooth speakers but that doesn't require a box mod.
That's very cool. the pack out has been a game changer for my work. I love watching these types of videos that get my brain juices flowing. I love trying to do the same things with my system. thanks so much
No problem. Our guys started buying them on their own dollar and the bosses saw enough productivity increase that they actually gave us a credit to pay us back for it. Most of us just bought more! 😆
I think it is a great idea! I might recommend a half solar panel on the top of the box and a small battery that will charge your batteries inside the box!
Very clean very well thought out excellent implementation and hopefully it can pay dividends if you patented any of your modifications. Thank you for all of your work and time taken to design and fabricate, and ultimately share your project with us, the viewers. The only modification I think I would suggest , would be to change the wood to a ufmh plastic material for longevity and durability, and it would eliminate the step of staining because it comes in black. Also, you can use a router to cut the chase for the top cord
That’s a handy little build, I really like it! As an industrial electrician, that would work perfect to keep my batteries charged along with easy access to them when it’s time to swap them out. I wheel my pack out set to the work area and work directly out of it.
Only improvements I could see is a small trim on the top of the inside dividers so you can close the lid while battery are on the charger. And a way to put a pad lock or some lock on the lid so I can secure the batteries from being stolen easily. super dope idea might have to make it myself!
Thank you for sharing this brilliant idea. I can definitely use this in my packout stack. I think you covered everything in one video and I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. Good luck to everyone. Im
I think this is a great idea. I love it. I use the same Milwaukee chargers. I would love a set up like this. It would come in very handy. Especially during the winter.
Nice! Love the concept, and your explanation for the "extras". I would have liked to see what the cable management looks like inside the box, though. Keep the videos coming!
Good work Boss! There is not much improvement to this mod that I can process. I think it was well thought out and it is noticed by how in depth you went about how and why you did what you did! Keep it up man and looking forward to seeing your next creations.
I don't like the use of standard chargers and not rapid chargers. I feel like they are crap free chargers included with any kit. Only some kits get the rapid chargers but they are much better. There's even dual 18v rapid chargers and 18v superchargers. Also I need my upper compartment for 12v batteries in that box. Another also, I don't like open boxes. They are dust collectors that also invite thieves to take an inventory. Mostly the dust, though.
Those holes in the lid correspond with the holes on the back of the chargers. Put a screw part way in then you can have your charger on it, as you would the if they were on the wall.
Great video! Living in Canada, I've been thinking of ways to do exactly what you just did you keep my batteries warm during the winter months. The only thing I would really change is the extension cord to black for looks and possibly a different case to hold more batteries, but all in all a very sleek system!
I think it’s pretty cool and this would be great at my new welding job! Run through batteries so fast , I think one with fast charging would be pretty cool
Very clean.... My only changes would be staining the wood black rather than the brown and then having a black power cord but that's just the OCD of me! Very clean congratulations!!!
Well done video. I jusy got started getting into the milwaukee fuel and packout lineup. We need more videos like this one showing great ideas that end users have thought of that Milwaukee didn't. They should adopt this design and pay you a royalty. 👍
I like the idea of bringing in the box in winter like you suggested. I'm in Wisconsin and have run into cold batteries before. One thing that you could add, is that outlet you had added in back to hold the plug, could be connected inside to that 3 port extension you cord. That way it serves both as a cord holder when stored and another plug when you're charging.
Great idea. Only concern would be on the way the struts are mounted in the box. With the constant stress eventuality the screws might strip out of the plastic. Maybe a filler piece inserted in the hollow Chanel for something to hole the screws better.
Because the load is only pushing perpendicular to the screws, or directly into the back, I don't think it'll be a problem. It wouldn't be hard to add that filler piece though, not. Abad thought. We will see how long it holds up. Currently 6weeks in from the original build and it looks good.
Neat concept! As My Kits are the biggest part of My job. I appreciate the improvements You've made from Your first chargingbox. I would incorporate My other brand of charger for versatility.
Thanks for the inspiration, I took a smaller one and just store the batteries to also bring in on those cold nights. Will definitely look at building one!👍🏻
Honestly is just the way I would do it the only difference is using one of the wider pack outs. To put either rapid chargers or super charges milwalkee offers
That’s great, need something like this. Only thing I would change my self is shorter cords so your not wasting so much space with extra cord. Really perfect tho. Thanks for the video.
I could possibly shorten the charger cords, and now I probably will. That's a good point. I wouldn't want to shorten the extension any at all. It's only 3ft as is.
There's always gonna be those guys that think their preferences are better than yours. If you have a different idea then great. Do that yourself. Would I do it a bit different? Sure, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with what he did for the final product. It's pretty crafty and slick. Good job dude!
Great idea. I would have probably used button head bolts nuts to fasten the chargers to the ply board 4:32 but then they wouldn’t have been able to be on the centre line.
Love the idea, been trying to make kits for everything in my pack outs and batteries is one I’ve been struggling with to get perfect. Thanks for the great idea. I can’t see many improvements besides playing around with the way the battery’s fit in the bottom(remove organizers). And I really like the fact that it has the male plug ready for plug in
Batteries do fit nice in this box! I use mine unmodded with the dividers. It holds my rapid charger in a 2x1 slot, 2 18v 8.0ah, and 4 18v 5ah. And the tray still fits in mine! You could fit more with a kaizen foam insert custom cut to your liking for sure. Right now the packout stuff I'm getting is all drawers. I'm tired of doing the box stack shuffle... I just want access to my tools. The batteries fit well in the drawers too. Probably my whole box of 18v fits in 1 drawer. But I want drawers for tools. When I want a drill, multi tool, grinder, jig saw, I don't want to shuffle for it. My battery box is worth 600. It's small and light enough to take home everynight. Maybe if I get another box that size I can sandwich it in a stack to lock up. For locking I suggest 2 python locks per stack, or 3 for 2 stacks. One to run through the holes, another to lock the stacks together @ the back, which can lock 2 stacks and go around something immovable.
Been fiddling around with my packout setup yesterday and my OCD decided to binge packout vids and stumbled across this vid. Awesome mod and great sensible thinking on the reasoning of why you made the alterations you made. To give my quirky feedback, I would've gone with a black extension cord instead of the white, since the white will start getting dirty quick, but that's really trivial in terms of a future consideration for another mod. Does not take away from the extreme thought you put into this. I'm in a cold weather state, and I mounted a battery mount to the front of my crate so when winter comes, I'll have to pull my crate off and bring it inside to avoid battery damage. Not the most feasible setup, but could be way worse. Keep creating and sharing. 👍
Thanks for the feedback! It would also theme better that way. I'm glad you found this video so maybe you can work something out that'll be good for you.
Man that is the best packout mod video I have ever seen!! Haters gonna hate boss LOL I love this!! I would be honored to call this my own and blessed for this to be my first addition of a packout set!! Truly Awesome and thank you for your time and dedication put into video!!Keep them coming too...... -#1Fann
Great idea! I would start right now if I had a few more tools you were using. I honestly agree with why you did everything the way you did. Well thought out my friend! Hope to win the giveaway!
Very good video …. Impressed with the precision. Was thinking … hmmm i think i will build this … right up to the point you said… “so i 3D printed …” lol
Awesome video! Thanks for the idea with the gas struts and the entire build. I just starting looking for ways to figure out how to stay organized with my batteries and keep them charging from the elements. Awesome idea. I have nothing to change but maybe a different color cord to black but that’s so it would match the color scheme but it don’t really matter. I like that cord your using because it don’t stick out and it’s low profile. This unit is ready for the job site. Thanks for making this video.
I would love to have this. I currently have a couple of chargers and about a dozen of batteries and keeping track of them all gets a little crazy. Maybe add a LED light so when you open the lid you could see your batteries better.
This idea is super awesome. The only thing I would change would probably be to the cable, like having the cable be black, and possibly have it extend out longer having some little spring inside to coil and retract it back in
This is actually a brilliant idea, I would like to make something like this or even better win it lol.. I actually won’t change anything I would leave it the way it is perfection.. good luck everyone
